On April 16,1850, a Dr. Davis announced the opening of his Thomsonian Hospital and Botanic Medi cine Store, located on K Street between 2nd and 3rd, and offered to supply physicians for the mines. His rates ran from $5 to $25 per day. The Thomsonians of that era believed in "natural remedies, not chemical.” The advertisement stated
