WELCOMETOTHESCRIPPSRANCHSWIM&RACQUETCLUB PRESCHOOLPROGRAM!

WelcometoourpreschoolprogramatScrippsRanchSwimandRacquetClub.We areexcitedtobringahighqualitypreschoolexperiencetotheScrippsRanch community.ThepreschoolprogramisownedandoperatedbyScrippsRanchSwim &RacquetClub(SRSRC).OurpreschoolprogramislicensedbytheStateof California’sDepartmentofSocialServices’CommunityCareLicensingDivision.

FulltimeandparttimepreschooloptionsareavailableMonday-Fridayforchildren ages3-5yearsoldwhoarefullypotty-trained(childrenarewipingontheirownand havinglessthantwoaccidentsinamonth).Childrenwhoareturning5by September1areeligibleforKindergartenandmaynotenrollinthepreschool program.

PHILOSOPHYANDGOALS

AttheSRSRCpreschoolprogram,ourgoalistoprovidequalitychildcareina nurturingandsafeenvironment.Wewillfocusonthewholechild(social/emotional, cognitive,language,andphysicaldevelopment)throughanintegratedcurriculum.

Webelievethatchildrenlearnbestinadevelopmentallyappropriateenvironment, withampleopportunityforeachchildtoexperiencesuccess.Weprovide opportunitiesforthechildrentoparticipateingroupandself-directedactivitiesas wellasindoorandoutdoorplay.

TheSRSRCpreschoolprogrammaintainsa1:12stafftostudentratioperourlicensing requirements.

OURSTAFF

Weprovideteacherswhoareexceptionalintheircapacitiesforguidingandcaring Theyarecommittedtoprovidingapreschoolprogramthatisstimulating,safe,and invitingwithacurriculumdesignedformaximumsuccess.Ourteachersmeetor exceedCaliforniaStateLicensingrequirementsandarecommittedtoprofessional growthanddevelopment.Children’sCenterteachersthatworkwithyourchildhave beenfingerprinted,receivedabackgroundcheckbytheDepartmentofJusticeand theFBI,andreceivedclearancefromCommunityCareLicensingbeforetheycan workwiththechildrenInaddition,alloftheteachersarerequiredtohavecollege unitsinEarlyChildhoodEducation.

Onoccasion,parentsmightaskthestafftobabysit.ScrippsRanchSwim&Racquet ClubdoesnotauthorizeortakeresponsibilityforanyservicesthatScrippsRanch Swim&RacquetClubemployeesmightprovideoutsideofScrippsRanchSwim& RacquetClubemployment.

DAILYSCHEDULEANDACTIVITIES

NAPTIME

StateLicensingregulationsrequirethateachchildinaStateLicensedfullday programisprovidedtheopportunityforquiet/restingtimeeachday.Thechildren have2hoursofnaptimeeachdayforfulldaystudents.Allchildrenarerequiredto restquietlyduringthistime.

BEDDING

Childrenwhostayafulldayandnapatpreschoolarerequiredtotaketheir beddinghomeattheendoftheweekonFridaytobewashedandreturnedatthe startofthenextweekonMonday.Parentsareresponsibleforprovidingasmall pillowandblanket.Theblanketshouldbebigenoughtocovertheirentirebody, butsmallenoughtofitintotheirnappingdrawer.Anannual$15feewillbe assessedforafittedcotsheetforchildrenwhoareenrolledinthefullday program.

SWIMMING

PROGRAMCURRICULUM

Thecurriculumoftheprogramis designedtoprovideyourchildwitha largevarietyofactivitiesandexperiences toenablethemtolearnandgrow.A tentativedailyscheduleispostedinthe classroom.Thefollowingisasampleof thefulldaypreschooldailyschedule.

Scheduledsnackandlunchbreakswilltakeplaceinboththemorningand afternoonChildrenenrolledinthefull-dayclasswillalsohaveanadditional afternoonsnackbreak.Itistheresponsibilityoftheparentorguardiantoprovideall necessaryfoodandbeverages.Pleaseensureyourchildarriveswithapackedlunch andsnacksthataresufficienttokeepthemnourishedandenergizedthroughoutthe day.Adrinkingfountainisavailableforwaterbottlerefillsasneeded.

Parentsarealsoresponsibleforprovidingallnecessaryeatingutensilsalongwith theirnutritiouspackedlunch.Ifyourchild’slunchrequiresrefrigeration,please provideacoldpackintheirlunchbox.Theclassroomrefrigeratorisforstaffuseonly. Theteachersaskthatchildrenkeeptheirpersonalbelongings(toysandvaluables) athome,unlessitisascheduledsharingday.Thepreschoolisnotresponsiblefor lost,damaged,orstolenpossessionsofanykindWeencourageyoutolabelall clothingandpossessionsandleavevaluablesathome.

SUNSCREEN

Parentsshouldapplysunscreentotheirchildrenpriortotheschoolday.Ifyouwish theteacherstoreapplysunscreen,pleasesendyourchildwithspraysunscreen.Per licensingrequirementsamedicationconsentformisrequired.

PROGRAMATTIRE

Childrenshouldwearcomfortableplayclothesandtennisshoes,orsandals(please noflipflopsorCrocs)foractiveplay.Achangeofclothesisrequiredtokeepinyour child’scubbyatalltimes(1facemask,2shirts,2shorts/pants,2underwear,&2pairs ofsocks).Ifitbecomesnecessarytochangeyourchild’sclothesandnoextra clothesareavailable,theparent/guardianwillbecalledtobringextraclothing.

Becauseourdailyactivitiesincludeart,wesuggestthatyoudressyourchild appropriately(clothesthatyoudon’tmindyourchildgettingdirty).

ARRIVALANDDISMISSAL

HALFDAYPROGRAM(8:30AM-1:00PM)

Dropofftimeisat8:30am.Earlydrop-offisnotoffered.Pleasearrivenoearlierthan 8:30am.Childrenmustbepickedupnolaterthan1:00pmforthemorningsession.

FULLDAYPROGRAM(8:00AM-5:00PM)

Teacherswillbetakingahead-countat8:45amtoplanandprepareactivitiesfor theday.Pleasecallby8:45a.m.ifyourchildwillbearrivingafter9:00a.m.orifthey willbeabsentthatday.

ParentsmustaccompanytheirchildATALLTIMESduringdropoffandpickuptimes. Pleaseinformteachersofanypossibleailmentsthatyourchildmaybeexperiencing (i.e.didn’tsleepwellthenightbefore,wokeupcranky,nobreakfast,etc.).Atpick-up time,pleaseinformtheteacherthatyouaretakingyourchild.(Thisisespecially importantifweareoutontheplayground).

LATEPICK-UPPOLICY

Terminationofservicesmayoccurafter5instancesoflatepick-up.Pick-upsthat occurafterthepreschoolprogramends(1:00pmforhalfdayand5:00pmforfull day)willbeassesseda$10feeplus$1perminuteperchild.

Ifastudenthasnotbeenpickedupbytheprogram'sendtime,wewillreferto his/heremergencyinformationandbegincallingthenumberslisted.Ifwehavenot heardfromaparentoremergencycontactwithinanhouraftertheprogramend time,wehavenootheralternativeandareobligatedtoturnthechildovertoChild ProtectiveServices.

SIGN-IN/-OUTPROCESS

SIGN-IN/-OUTPOLICY

CommunityCareLicensingrequiresthateverychildattendingtheprogrammustbe signedin&outwithafulllegalsignature,includingtheexacttime,byanauthorized adult.Authorizedindividualsmustbeover18andonthepick-uplistwithavalidI.D. WemusthaveawrittenauthorizationemailorProcareassignedtoeachauthorized individualforanyotheradultnotlistedonyourregistrationforms.Forthisreason, pleasemakesureyourformsandProcareprofilesareuptodate.

SRSRCstaffreservetherighttocheckanyperson’sIDwhocomestopickupachild and/oraskfortheirassignedcode.Pleaseinformanyotherauthorizedperson pickingupyourchild(ren)thattheymustshowIDtoastaffmember.

TRANSPORTATION

TRANSPORTATIONINFORMATION

SRSRC10-passengervansmaybeusedinordertotransportchildrenforfieldtrips. Staffmemberswhodrivethepassengervanshavevaliddriver’slicensesandhave hadtheirdrivingrecordreviewed.

DISCIPLINEANDBEHAVIOR

DISCIPLINEPOLICYANDBEHAVIORREPORTS

Corporalorphysicalpunishmentofanykindisnotallowedatanytime.The preschoolstafffollowa3pointbehaviorplanif/whentherearebehavioralissuesin theclassroom.

Redirection-Theteacherwillredirectthechild’sattentiontosomethingmore positive.

ReflectionTime-Ifthechildisunabletoberedirected,theteacherwilltakethe childaside,discusstheissue,andallowthemanage-appropriateamountof timetoreflect.

2. RemovalfromtheClass-Ifthedisruptivebehaviorcontinuesandbecomestoo muchofadistraction,thechildmayberemovedfromtheclassroomatthe Director’sdiscretion.Thechildwillmissthenextactivitybeforereturningwhen readyandwillhaveanotesenthomeexplainingtheincident.

Intheeventofextremeorconsistentmisbehaviororifyourchildinflictsbodilyharm ofanykindtoanotherindividualtheywillreceiveanIncident/BehaviorReport. Repeatedmisconductduringprogramhoursisunsafeanddisruptstheexperience ofotherchildren.Ifachildcontinuestobedisruptiveafterthestaffmemberhas alreadyfollowedtheprocedureasmentionedaboveorifthechildintentionallyhits, harms,orendangersanotherchild,staffmember,orself,theDirectormayrequirea conferencemeetingbetweentheProgramDirectorandthechild’sparents.

AfterthreeIncident/BehaviorReportshavebeenfiled,anddependingonthe severity,thechildmaybeplacedonanactionplantohelpremedythesituation, maybeplacedonsuspensionfromparticipationintheprogramormaybe removedfromtheprogramentirely.

Adisruptiveactionthatthreatensthesafetyofothersorselfmayalsoresultinan earlyparentpick-upfortheday,conference,suspension,orprogramremovalifitis inthebestinterestforthesafetyofothersorselfregardlessofthenumberof Incident/BehaviorReportsonfileattheDirector’sdiscretion.

DISCIPLINEPOLICYANDBEHAVIORREPORTS(CONT.)

AchildremovedfromtheprogrammaybeineligibleforotherSRSRCprograms (including,butnotlimitedto,licensedchildcareandcamps)for12months.Priorto becomingeligibletoreturntoanSRSRCprogram,theparentsmustmeetwiththe childcaredirectoroftheprogramforwhichtheywishtoenrolltheirchildtoseek approvalforenrollment.

Itistheparent’sresponsibilitytofindcareforthechildintheeventofanearlypickup,suspension,orprogramremoval.Pleasenotethatfinaldisciplinarydecisionsare madeatthediscretionoftheDirector.

BEHAVIORREPORTS

Behaviorformswillbeusedtohelpdocumentgoodbehaviorandbehaviorof concernaboutwhichwefeeltheparentsshouldbemadeaware.

REGISTRATIONANDADMISSION

ANNUALENROLLMENT

Programparticipantsmustre-enrollannually.Noticewillbesentoutwhenitistime todosoalongwitharesponsedeadline.Ifnoresponseisreceivedbythestated deadline,yourchild’sspotintheprogramwillbemadeavailabletoanotherfamily. Registrationwillbeavailableforthefullyearfromfallthroughsummer.

SIBLINGANDMEMBERPRIORITYREGISTRATION

SRSRCmembershavepriorityinthepreschoolprogram.Tobeconsideredasa member,yourchildmustbelistedonyouractivemembershipaccount.

Membershipaccountsmustbeundertheparent/legalguardianwiththechildlisted ontheparent’s/legalguardian’saccount.Thisprioritysystemisalsousedforthe waitinglistsystem.Youmayaddyourchildtothewaitinglistatwww.srsrc.com.

PAYMENTANDACCOUNTPOLICIES

Ifacheckfortuition,yearlyregistration,fieldtrips,orrelatedprogramfeesis returnedduetoinsufficientfunds,allassociatedbankchargesanda$15.00feewill beaddedtoyouraccount.

Forpast-dueaccounts,includingonlineregistrationsforotherSRSRCprograms,a writtennotificationrequiringpaymentwithin14calendardayswillbesent.Accounts thatremainunpaidmayresultindelayedenrollment,suspension,ordismissalfrom theprogram.Membersusingserviceswhilecarryingdelinquentmembershipfees mayalsofaceprogramtermination.SRSRCreservestherighttodiscontinue servicesatanytimeforunpaidaccounts.Additionally,allaccountinformationmay beusedforcollectionactivitiesasnecessary.

ABSENCES

Whenyourchildwillbeabsent,pleasenotifytheProgramDirectorbytelephoneor emailby10:00a.m.thatday.Failuretonotifytheprogrammayresultina$15.00 chargeaddedtoyouraccount.Becauseourprogramandlicensingrequirements forceustoengagestaffbasedonthenumberofchildrenenrolled,wecannotgive refunds,credits,orexchangesfordaysyourchildisabsent.

PROGRAMWITHDRAWAL

Ifyouwouldliketodiscontinueenrollmentintheprogram,a30-daywrittennoticeis required.

SCHEDULECHANGES

Tomeetcapacityandstaffingrequirements,yourscheduleforyourchild(ren) mustremainconsistentthroughouttheschoolyear.Ifyouwishtomakea schedulechange,awrittenrequestmustbesubmittedatleast30daysin advance.Scheduleadjustmentswillbeaccommodatedbasedonspace availabilityandrequireapprovalfromtheProgramDirector.

STAFFDEVELOPMENTDAYS

Eachschoolyear,thepreschoolwillbeCLOSEDbetweentheendoftheschoolyear andthebeginningofthenewschoolyear.Thisallowsourteacherstopreparethe curriculumforthenewschoolyear.

PROGRAMHOLIDAYS

SRSRCSchoolAgeProgramsareclosedonnon-schooldays.Tuitionisnotprorated forholidaysunlessbreaksareaweekorlonger.However,Mini-Camps,Winter Camps,orSpringCampsmaybeofferedattheChildren’sCenterorAviary locations.TheseACA-accreditedcampsareseparatefromourchildcareprograms andrequireanadditionalfee.Registeronlineatwww.srsrc.comonafirst-come, first-servedbasis.

PROGRAM/PARENTCOMMUNICATIONS

Communicationisessentialforanyprogramtobesuccessful.Weencourage communicationsbetweentheprogramstaffandparents.Pleaselettheteachers knowifyourchildisonanymedication,hadadifficultmorning,oranyother informationthatyoufeelisrelevant.

Besidescommunicatingdirectlywiththeparent,theteacherswillkeeptheparents informedofany/allclassroominformationby:

1. Providinga“StudentFileBox”(locatednexttosignin/outsheets).Itisthe parent’sresponsibilitytochecktheirchild’sfiledailyfortheirbehaviorreport, artwork,newsletters,andanypossiblehandouts.

PostinginformationontheParentBoard(locatedinthemainlobbyabovethe signin/outsheets).

2. ParentMeetingsandParent/TeacherConferencesmayberequestedbythe parent.

3. MonthlyNewsletterswillbesenthometonotifyparentsofupcomingactivities, eventsandcurriculumplans.Inaddition,forthoseparentsthatprovideuswith theiremailaddress,wewillsendoutbriefemailremindersregardingthe program.

STATEMENTOFRISKRELATEDTOCOVID-19

AninherentriskofexposuretoCOVID-19existsinanypublicplacewherepeopleare present.COVID-19isanextremelycontagiousdiseasethatcanleadtosevereillness anddeath.ByvisitingSRSRC,youvoluntarilyassumeallrisksrelatedtoexposureto COVID-19foryouandyourchild.

DAILYILLNESSSCREENINGS

SRSRCreservestherighttocheckparticipants’temperaturesdailypriortoattending programs.Childrenwithatemperatureof100°Forabovewillnotbeadmitted.Any childwhoexhibitssignsorsymptomsofillnesswillnotbeallowedtoattendyouth programs.Ifathermometerisnotavailable,SRSRCmayutilizeasymptomchecklist. Itistheparent’s/guardian’sresponsibilitytoHAVEABACK-UPPLANintheeventthat thechildmustremainhomeorbepickedupfromtheprogramduetoillness.Ifa childmustbepickedupduetoillness,theparentisresponsibleforhavingthechild pickedupwithin30minutes.

Foraninjuryorillnessbelievedtobebeyondourscope,emergencymedical services(911)maybecalledforemergencytreatment.Accident/Incidentreports fromthesupervisingstaffmemberordirectorwillbewrittenupandgiventothe parent.Anyexpensesforroutineoremergencymedicalcarearetheresponsibilityof theparent.

ACCIDENT/INCIDENTREPORTS

Accident/IncidentReportsoran“OuchReport”fornon-emergencyinjurieswillbe writtenupbythesupervisingstaffmemberorProgramDirectorandgiventothe parent.

ILLNESSESANDABSENCES

NotifyprogramstaffthroughProcareonthemorningyourchildwillbeabsent.

Childrenwithanysymptomsofillnessinthepast24hoursmustremainathomefor thesafetyofall.Symptomsofcommunicablediseasemayinclude,butarenot limitedto,rash,redandwateryeyes,fever,cough,shortnessofbreathordifficulty breathing,chills,fatigue,muscleorbodyaches,headache,sorethroat,nausea, vomiting,diarrhea,congestionorrunnynose,and/oranewlossoftasteorsmell. Participantswithsymptomswillnotbepermittedtoremainattheprogram.Ifyour childexhibitssymptomsofCOVID-19,testingisrecommended.ChildrenwithCOVID19maynotreturnuntiltheymeettheCaliforniaDepartmentofPublicHealthcriteria, andSRSRCmayapplystricterrequirements.

Childrensenthomewithafevercanonlyreturnafterbeingfever-freefor24hours withoutfever-reducingmedicationandshowingimprovementorresolutionin symptoms.Atemperaturecheckmaybeconducteduponreturnusingaprogram thermometer.

Childrenonantibioticsmayreturnafter24hoursoftreatmentandadoctor’s clearance,providedtheymeethealthcriteria.

Childrenfeelingunwellwhoareunabletocomfortablyparticipateinactivitiesmay besenthome,evenwithoutafever.SRSRCreservestherighttosendachildhome ifwefeelitisinthebestinterestofthechild.

Parentsmustarrangeforpickupwithin30minutesiftheirchildbecomesillduring theprogram;masksmayberequireduntilpickup.

ImmediatelyinformtheDirectorifyourchildhasbeenexposedto,contracted,or showssymptomsofacontagiousillness(suchasCOVID-19,strepthroat,viral infection,pinworms,lice,measles,mumps,chickenpox,scarletfever,etc.).Certain diseasesmustbereportedtolicensingandpublichealthauthorities.

Dependingonthecircumstance,theDirectormayalertotherparentsthattheirchild mayhavebeenexposedtoacontagiousdisease(yourchild’snamewillnotbe included).

ADMINISTRATIONOFMEDICATION

CaliforniaStateLicensingregulationsdonotallowustoadministeroverthecounter medicine(includingsunscreen)unlessamedicationconsentformiscompleted.If yourchildhasaprescribedmedication,pleasenotifytheProgramDirectorwith writteninstructions.ThebottleMUSTshow:nameofchild,prescriptionnumber, nameofthedoctorandhowmanytimesadaythemedicationistobegiven.The parentmustfilloutthenecessaryinformationonthemedicationconsentform providedbytheDirector.PleaseinformtheDirectorofwhenthemedicationwaslast administered.
