With the MRP, students from Marshall Middle School can dive into a world of activities at SRSRC after school, guided by our friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Whether you're a member or non-member of SRSRC, if you attend Marshall Middle School, you're invited to join our vibrant, non-licensed drop-in recreational program.

HOMEWORK From Monday to Thursday, we dedicate 45 minutes to dedicated homework & Quiet Time, ensuring a balance between fun and productive study sessions. Our staff will assist your child with homework questions during this time. However, due to the staff-to-student ratio, one-on-one time may be limited. If additional homework time is needed, children are welcome to continue working on their assignments at any point while signed into the MRP.

FIELD TRIPS Discover new places and experiences with our adventurous outings, offered at an additional cost. On some minimum days, we may provide optional field trips, which are scheduled and posted in advance. Space is limited by our van capacity and will be at an additional cost. Sign-ups for field trips will be done through the program director.. Regular daily activities will continue if your child is not attending the field trip. Please note that recent behavioral issues and behavior reports may result in the denial of field trip privileges.

SNACKS AND LUNCHES SRSRC does not provide snacks or lunches. Parents may send snacks with their child or purchase them at the front office. On minimum days, parents must provide a nutritious, non-perishable lunch with necessary utensils, as the center will not refrigerate or heat food. If a child does not bring lunch, a Lunchable and snack will be provided for an additional $10 fee.

ITEMS FROM HOME Toys and valuables should not be brought to the program, but cell phones may be used during designated times. If we see toys or valuables outside of a child’s backpack, or if cell phones are used disruptively, we will ask for them to be put away.

Toys resembling weapons are prohibited. Items including weapons, alcohol, and drugs, are strictly forbidden and will lead to immediate removal. Lost and found bins are located throughout the property, and are cleaned out periodically. Unclaimed items may be donated. MRP is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen items.

Label all clothing and possessions. Leave valuables at home.

STAFF AND SUPERVISION OUR STAFF AND SUPERVISION Our experienced and background-checked staff, many with educational backgrounds in child development, physical education, recreation, psychology, or related fields, have experience in camps or child care. Our staff are dedicated to providing a safe and enriching environment. Staff members driving passenger vans hold valid driver’s licenses with clean driving records.

The MRP is a non-licensed program where children can freely choose from various activities and sign themselves in and out. Staff meet students at their school, sign them in, and either shuttle them to our Aviary facility by van or walk with counselors.

Staff are distributed throughout the facility to facilitate activities.

HIRING STAFF TO BABYSIT On occasion, parents might ask the staff to babysit. Scripps Ranch Swim & Racquet Club does not authorize or take responsibility for any services that Scripps Ranch Swim & Racquet Club employees might provide outside of Scripps Ranch Swim & Racquet Club employment.

DAILY SCHEDULE AND ACTIVITIES PROGRAM CURRICULUM The program's curriculum is designed to provide your child with a wide variety of activities and experiences to enable them to grow and learn. A tentative daily schedule of activities is posted in the Big Room at Aviary, in each classroom, and in the lobby at the Children’s Center. The following are examples of what the before/after school program days may look like at both locations.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES AND FACILITY USAGE Facility usage and activities will be conducted weather permitting. Our staff will continuously monitor weather conditions to ensure the safety and appropriateness of facility usage. In the event of adverse weather, we may modify or reschedule activities to prioritize the well-being of participants.

SWIM, TENNIS, AND OTHER LESSONS If your child is enrolled in tennis, swim, or any other lessons that the Club may provide, please let us know. Your child may sign himself/herself out to attend his/her lesson. Program staff are not responsible for delivering program participants to their lessons.

PROGRAM ATTIRE Please have your child wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes daily so they can participate in all activities safely.

SWIMMING All children must bring a swimsuit and towel if they plan on going to the pool. We provide sunscreen, but if you prefer a specific type, please pack it with your child’s swimming gear. Program participants may only swim when an SRSRC lifeguard is on duty.

BIRTHDAYS AND SPECIAL OCCASIONS Parents are welcome to send cupcakes, cake slices, cookies, or any other treats to share with their child's classmates on birthdays or special occasions. If you choose to do this, you must make sure that you can accommodate all program participants. Please let us know in advance if you will bring a treat (some children in our program may have dietary restrictions).

REGISTRATION AND ADMISSION ANNUAL ENROLLMENT AND REGISTRATION FEE Program participants must re-enroll annually, with notice and response deadlines provided. If no response is received by the deadline, the child's spot will be offered to another family. A non-refundable annual registration fee is due at enrollment to secure a space, and both this fee and monthly tuition will be billed to your membership or non-member programs account. Tuition rates are based on a monthly rate, which may vary during extended school breaks.

SIBLING AND MEMBER PRIORITY REGISTRATION SRSRC members have priority in SRSRC Marshall Recreation program. Your child must be listed on your active membership account to be considered as a member.

Membership accounts must be under the parent/legal guardian with the child listed on the parent’s/legal guardian’s account. This priority system is also used for the interest list system. You may add your child to the waiting list at www.srsrc.com.

ADMISSION FORMS The parent must complete the registration forms by the child’s first day of attendance. Your child cannot attend the program until all required forms have been completed and turned in.

TUITION POLICY Monthly tuition bills will be issued for your child and are due by the 20th of each month. The billed amount is determined by the school schedule option you have selected for your child(ren). A late fee of $15.00 will be applied for payments made after the 20th. Please note that tuition is not prorated for missed days or absences

NON-MEMBER CREDIT CARD CHARGE AUTHORIZATION Non-members must complete a Recurring Credit Card Payment Authorization form to finalize their registration. The monthly account balance will be automatically deducted between the 5th and 8th of each month. At the time of enrollment, the provided credit card information will also be used to collect the annual, nonrefundable registration fee. Registration is considered incomplete until both the authorization form and the fee are submitted. A non-member account will be set up exclusively for sending program-related invoices. Please note, this account does not grant membership privileges at SRSRC.

PAYMENT AND ACCOUNT POLICIES If a check for tuition, yearly registration, field trips, or related program fees is returned due to insufficient funds, all associated bank charges and a $15.00 fee will be added to your account.

For past-due accounts, including online registrations for other SRSRC programs, a written notification requiring payment within 14 calendar days will be sent. Accounts that remain unpaid may result in delayed enrollment, suspension, or dismissal from the program. Members using services while carrying delinquent membership fees may also face program termination. SRSRC reserves the right to discontinue services at any time for unpaid accounts. Additionally, all account information may be used for collection activities as necessary.

PROGRAM WITHDRAWAL If you would like to discontinue enrollment in the program, a 30-day written notice is required.

SCHEDULE CHANGES To meet capacity and staffing requirements, your schedule for your child(ren) must remain consistent throughout the school year. If you wish to make a schedule change, a written request must be submitted at least 30 days in advance. Schedule adjustments will be accommodated based on space availability and require approval from the Program Director.

Please note that Scripps Ranch Swim & Racquet Club reserves the right to modify schedules, program hours, and monthly tuition rates with a 30-day notice.

ABSENCES When your child will not be attending on a day they usually attend, we request that you notify the director as a courtesy so we may plan activity offerings and staffing accordingly. Please contact the director by 10:00 am. Since we staff based on the number of children enrolled, we can not give refunds, credits, or exchanges for days your child is absent. As a drop-in recreation program, we do not call to verify absences.

EMERGENCY DROP-IN Emergency drop-in is offered (for an additional cost) when school is in session (provided space is available). Prior arrangements must be made with the Program Director. Emergency drop-in is not guaranteed.

PROGRAM HOLIDAYS The MRP is CLOSED on days when school is not in session. Our program aligns with school holidays and is only available on school days. During school holidays or professional growth days, we often offer Mini-Camps. These camps are separate programs accredited by the American Camp Association and incur an additional cost. Registration is first come, first served, and can be done online at www.srsrc.com.

SIGN-IN/-OUT AND TRANSPORTATION SIGN-IN AND TRANSPORTATION The program participants walk from Marshall Middle School with staff members.

Participants have 15 minutes from when the release bell rings to sign into the program at lunch area A. After 15 minutes, the signed in participants and staff members will walk together to SRSRC. The MRP and SRSRC is not responsible for any participants who are not signed in at this time, and is not responsible for transporting individuals to SRSRC who have not signed in by this time.

On some days, we will utilize one of our passenger vans to pick up backpacks and musical instruments so that program participants do not have to walk with these items. On days when there is rainy weather or very hot weather, we may utilize our SRSRC passenger vans to transport program participants to SRSRC. However, our program is based on walking back to SRSRC, so all participants should plan for walking on all days. Any transportation by our passenger vans will be done by staff with the appropriate driver’s license and who has had their driving record reviewed.

SIGN-OUT AND LATE PICK-UP POLICY Participants may sign themselves out at any time. However, we prefer that they show us a text notifying us that the parent has arrived in the parking lot if they are not within sight of staff at the time of pick up.

The MRP ends at 6:00 p.m. Any participants still at the facility will sign themselves out of the program. Members of SRSRC may stay and continue to use the facilities. Nonmembers must be picked up.

DISCIPLINE AND BEHAVIOR DISCIPLINE POLICY AND BEHAVIOR REPORTS Corporal or physical punishment is strictly prohibited. Behavioral issues are first addressed through communication with the child. If disruptive behavior persists, the child may be temporarily removed from the activity and monitored by a staff member until they are ready to return. In such cases, an Incident/Behavior Report may be completed and shared with parents.

Repeated misconduct or actions that harm or endanger others, staff, or the child themselves may require a conference between the Program Director and parents.

After three Incident/Behavior Reports, the child may face an action plan, suspension, or removal from the program, depending on the frequency and/or severity of the behavior. Serious incidents that threaten safety may result in immediate suspension or removal, regardless of prior reports, at the Director’s discretion.

A child removed from the program will be ineligible for SRSRC youth programs, including childcare and camps, for a minimum of 12 months from the removal date.

Re-enrollment requires prior approval from the childcare directors. Parents are responsible for arranging alternative care in cases of early pick-up, suspension, or program removal. Final disciplinary decisions are at the sole discretion of the Director to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.

BEHAVIOR REPORTS Behavior forms will be used to help document good behavior and behavior of concern about which we feel the parents should be made aware.

HEALTH AND SAFETY FACILITY ACCESS

For improved security, the front desk staff checks in anyone entering the facility.

Each person entering the facility must give the front desk staff their assigned member number or non-member child care number to ensure that only those who are allowed entry gain entry.

PROGRAM/PARENT COMMUNICATIONS We encourage open communication between program staff and parents. Please inform the staff if your child is on medication or if there is any other relevant information. Our staff will make every effort to communicate promptly to address any concerns. We will also send out email reminders regarding the program and monthly newsletters on what to look forward to in the coming months.

CHILD ABUSE REPORTING The staff is required by law to report suspected child abuse to the proper authorities.

The telephone number of the Child Protective Services is (619) 560-2191. The Family Stress Center (619) 691-1331 assists families with stressful times and provides suggestions for parenting techniques.

DAILY ILLNESS SCREENINGS SRSRC reserves the right to check participants’ temperatures daily prior to attending programs. Children with a temperature of 100°F or above will not be admitted. Any child who exhibits signs or symptoms of illness will not be allowed to attend youth programs. If a thermometer is not available, SRSRC may utilize a symptom checklist.

It is the parent’s/guardian’s responsibility to HAVE A BACK-UP PLAN in the event that the child must remain home or be picked up from the program due to illness. If a child must be picked up due to illness, the parent is responsible for having the child picked up within 30 minutes.

ILLNESSES AND ABSENCES Absences should be reported to the program staff on the morning of the day your child will not be attending.

Children with any symptoms of illness in the past 24 hours must remain at home for the safety of all. Symptoms of communicable disease may include, but are not limited to, rash, red and watery eyes, fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, congestion or runny nose, and/or a new loss of taste or smell.

Participants with symptoms will not be permitted to remain at the program. If your child exhibits symptoms of COVID-19, testing is recommended. Children with COVID19 may not return until they meet the California Department of Public Health criteria, and SRSRC may apply stricter requirements.

Children sent home with a fever can only return after being fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication and showing improvement or resolution in symptoms. A temperature check may be conducted upon return using a program thermometer.

Children on antibiotics may return after 24 hours of treatment and a doctor’s clearance, provided they meet health criteria.

Children feeling unwell who are unable to comfortably participate in activities may be sent home, even without a fever. SRSRC reserves the right to send a child home if we feel it is in the best interest of the child. Parents must arrange for pickup within 30 minutes if their child becomes ill during the program; masks may be required until pickup.

Immediately inform the Director if your child has been exposed to, contracted, or shows symptoms of a contagious illness (such as COVID-19, strep throat, viral infection, pinworms, lice, measles, mumps, chicken pox, scarlet fever, etc.). Certain diseases must be reported to licensing and public health authorities.

Depending on the circumstance, the Director may alert other parents that their child may have been exposed to a contagious disease (your child’s name will not be included).

STATEMENT OF RISK RELATED TO COVID-19 An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. By visiting SRSRC, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 for you and your child.

EMERGENCY INJURIES AND ILLNESSES The parent/guardian will be called immediately to pick up their child for emergency injuries requiring medical attention or for serious illness. If the legal guardian cannot be contacted, SRSRC staff will begin contacting the emergency contacts listed for your child.

For an injury or illness believed to be beyond our scope, emergency medical services (911) may be called for emergency treatment. Accident/Incident reports from the supervising staff member or director will be written up and given to the parent. Any expenses for routine or emergency medical care are the responsibility of the parent.

ACCIDENT/INCIDENT REPORTS Accident/Incident Reports for non-emergency injuries will be written up by the supervising staff member or Program Director and given to the parent.

LICE POLICY SRSRC Marshall Recreation Program IS A NIT-FREE FACILITY. Please notify the program director immediately if your child has been exposed to or has lice so that we can address the issue as promptly and efficiently as possible. (Daily head checks and proper cleaning.) Early detection is key to getting rid of lice and nits quickly. If live lice and/or nits are found your child will be sent home and can return after becoming nit-free. A check on the hair by the staff/director will be required for return.

ADMINISTRATION OF MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION OF MEDICATION

We cannot administer prescription medication without a doctor’s written prescription and instructions. The prescription bottle must include the child’s name, prescription number, doctor’s name, dosage, and timing. Parents must also provide the time of the last dose and complete a “Medicine Administration Form” from the director.

Over-the-counter medications (e.g., Tylenol, Cough Syrup, Pepto-Bismol) do not require a doctor’s prescription. These can be administered with written parental permission on file. Approved over-the-counter medications should be noted on the child’s Health History Form.

MEDIA MEDIA POLICY Scripps Ranch Swim & Racquet Club may take pictures and/or video of participants and activities for the website www.srsrc.com, promotional materials, camp/program projects, and/or for publicity purposes. Please contact the director in writing if you would like to withdraw your photo/media permission. A new withdrawal request must be submitted at the start of each school year or program session.
