WELCOME WELCOME TO THE SCRIPPS RANCH SWIM & RACQUET CLUB PRESCHOOL PROGRAM! Welcome to our preschool program at Scripps Ranch Swim and Racquet Club. We are excited to bring a high quality preschool experience to the Scripps Ranch community. The preschool program is owned and operated by Scripps Ranch Swim & Racquet Club (SRSRC). Our preschool program is licensed by the State of California’s Department of Social Services’ Community Care Licensing Division.

Full time and part time preschool options are available Monday - Friday for children ages 3-5 years old who are fully potty-trained (children are wiping on their own and having less than two accidents in a month). Children who are turning 5 by September 1 are eligible for Kindergarten and may not enroll in the preschool program.

PHILOSOPHY AND GOALS At the SRSRC preschool program, our goal is to provide quality childcare in a nurturing and safe environment. We will focus on the whole child (social/emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development) through an integrated curriculum.

We believe that children learn best in a developmentally appropriate environment, with ample opportunity for each child to experience success. We provide opportunities for the children to participate in group and self-directed activities as well as indoor and outdoor play.

OUR STAFF We provide teachers who are exceptional in their capacities for guiding and caring.

They are committed to providing a preschool program that is stimulating, safe, and inviting with a curriculum designed for maximum success. Our teachers meet or exceed California State Licensing requirements and are committed to professional growth and development. Children’s Center teachers that work with your child have been fingerprinted, received a background check by the Department of Justice and the FBI, and received clearance from Community Care Licensing before they can work with the children. In addition, all of the teachers are required to have college units in Early Childhood Education.

HIRING STAFF TO BABYSIT On occasion, parents might ask the staff to babysit. Scripps Ranch Swim & Racquet Club does not authorize or take responsibility for any services that Scripps Ranch Swim & Racquet Club employees might provide outside of Scripps Ranch Swim & Racquet Club employment.

DAILY SCHEDULE AND ACTIVITIES NAP TIME State Licensing regulations require that each child in a State Licensed full day program is provided the opportunity for quiet/resting time each day. The children have 2 hours of nap time each day for full day students. All children are required to rest quietly during this time.

BEDDING Children who stay a full day and nap at preschool are required to take their bedding home at the end of the week on Friday to be washed and returned at the start of the next week on Monday. Parents are responsible for providing a small pillow and blanket. The blanket should be big enough to cover their entire body, but small enough to fit into their napping drawer. An annual $15 fee will be assessed for a fitted cot sheet for children who are enrolled in the full day program.

SNACKS AND LUNCHES The SRSRC preschool program may designate areas of the facility as NUT FREE. Please do not send items containing peanuts, tree nuts and nut butters if your child attends the program in a nut free classroom.

Scheduled snack and lunch breaks will take place in both the morning and afternoon. Children enrolled in the full-day class will also have an additional afternoon snack break. It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to provide all necessary food and beverages. Please ensure your child arrives with a packed lunch and snacks that are sufficient to keep them nourished and energized throughout the day. A drinking fountain is available for water bottle refills as needed.

Parents are also responsible for providing all necessary eating utensils along with their nutritious packed lunch. If your child’s lunch requires refrigeration, please provide a cold pack in their lunchbox. The classroom refrigerator is for staff use only.

Our staff is not able to microwave lunch items. For safety purposes, please DO NOT SEND any glass containers, bottles, or any tin can pull top containers (soda, tuna, etc.) Also, please do not pack candy.

For dietary reasons and safety precautions (allergies) children are not allowed to share food items sent from home with their classmates.

Please note: If you fail to provide your child with a lunch, your child will be provided with a Lunchable or similar. There will be a $10 charge.

BIRTHDAYS AND SPECIAL OCCASIONS If you wish to provide a treat for your child’s birthday or a special occasion, please communicate with the Director for approval.

ITEMS FROM HOME The teachers ask that children keep their personal belongings (toys and valuables) at home, unless it is a scheduled sharing day. The preschool is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen possessions of any kind. We encourage you to label all clothing and possessions and leave valuables at home.

SUNSCREEN Parents should apply sunscreen to their children prior to the school day. If you wish the teachers to reapply sunscreen, please send your child with spray sunscreen. Per licensing requirements a medication consent form is required.

PROGRAM ATTIRE Children should wear comfortable play clothes and tennis shoes, or sandals (please no flip flops or Crocs) for active play. A change of clothes is required to keep in your child’s cubby at all times (1 face mask, 2 shirts, 2 shorts/pants, 2 underwear, & 2 pairs of socks). If it becomes necessary to change your child’s clothes and no extra clothes are available, the parent /guardian will be called to bring extra clothing.

Because our daily activities include art, we suggest that you dress your child appropriately (clothes that you don’t mind your child getting dirty).

ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL HALF DAY PROGRAM (8:30 AM-1:00 PM) Drop off time is at 8:30am. Early drop-off is not offered. Please arrive no earlier than 8:30am. Children must be picked up no later than 1:00pm for the morning session.

FULL DAY PROGRAM (8:00 AM-5:00 PM) Drop off time is at 8:00am. Early drop-off is not offered. Children must be picked up no later than 5:00p.m.

Teachers will be taking a head-count at 8:45 am to plan and prepare activities for the day. Please call by 8:45 a.m. if your child will be arriving after 9:00a.m. or if they will be absent that day.

Parents must accompany their child AT ALL TIMES during drop off and pick up times.

Please inform teachers of any possible ailments that your child may be experiencing (i.e. didn’t sleep well the night before, woke up cranky, no breakfast, etc.). At pick-up time, please inform the teacher that you are taking your child. (This is especially important if we are out on the playground).

LATE PICK-UP POLICY Termination of services may occur after 5 instances of late pick-up. Pick-ups that occur after the preschool program ends (1:00 pm for half day and 5:00 pm for full day) will be assessed a $10 fee plus $1 per minute per child.

If a student has not been picked up by the program's end time, we will refer to his/her emergency information and begin calling the numbers listed. If we have not heard from a parent or emergency contact within an hour after the program end time, we have no other alternative and are obligated to turn the child over to Child Protective Services.

SIGN-IN/-OUT PROCESS SIGN-IN/-OUT POLICY Community Care Licensing requires that every child attending the program must be signed in & out with a full legal signature, including the exact time, by an authorized adult. Authorized individuals must be over 18 and on the pick-up list with a valid I.D. We must have a written authorization email or Procare assigned to each authorized individual for any other adult not listed on your registration forms. For this reason, please make sure your forms and Procare profiles are up to date.

SRSRC staff reserve the right to check any person’s ID who comes to pick up a child and/or ask for their assigned code. Please inform any other authorized person picking up your child(ren) that they must show ID to a staff member.

TRANSPORTATION TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION SRSRC 10-passenger vans may be used in order to transport children for field trips.

Staff members who drive the passenger vans have valid driver’s licenses and have had their driving record reviewed.

DISCIPLINE AND BEHAVIOR DISCIPLINE POLICY AND BEHAVIOR REPORTS Corporal or physical punishment of any kind is not allowed at any time. The preschool staff follow a 3 point behavior plan if/when there are behavioral issues in the classroom.

1. Redirection- The teacher will redirect the child’s attention to something more positive.

2. Reflection Time - If the child is unable to be redirected, the teacher will take the child aside, discuss the issue, and allow them an age-appropriate amount of time to reflect.

3. Removal from the Class- If the disruptive behavior continues and becomes too much of a distraction, the child may be removed from the classroom at the Director’s discretion. The child will miss the next activity before returning when ready and will have a note sent home explaining the incident.

In the event of extreme or consistent misbehavior or if your child inflicts bodily harm of any kind to another individual they will receive an Incident/Behavior Report.

Repeated misconduct during program hours is unsafe and disrupts the experience of other children. If a child continues to be disruptive after the staff member has already followed the procedure as mentioned above or if the child intentionally hits, harms, or endangers another child, staff member, or self, the Director may require a conference meeting between the Program Director and the child’s parents.

After three Incident/Behavior Reports have been filed, and depending on the severity, the child may be placed on an action plan to help remedy the situation, may be placed on suspension from participation in the program or may be removed from the program entirely.

A disruptive action that threatens the safety of others or self may also result in an early parent pick-up for the day, conference, suspension, or program removal if it is in the best interest for the safety of others or self regardless of the number of Incident/Behavior Reports on file at the Director’s discretion.

DISCIPLINE POLICY AND BEHAVIOR REPORTS (CONT.) A child removed from the program may be ineligible for other SRSRC programs (including, but not limited to, licensed childcare and camps) for 12 months. Prior to becoming eligible to return to an SRSRC program, the parents must meet with the child care director of the program for which they wish to enroll their child to seek approval for enrollment.

It is the parent’s responsibility to find care for the child in the event of an early pickup, suspension, or program removal. Please note that final disciplinary decisions are made at the discretion of the Director.

BEHAVIOR REPORTS Behavior forms will be used to help document good behavior and behavior of concern about which we feel the parents should be made aware.

REGISTRATION AND ADMISSION ANNUAL ENROLLMENT Program participants must re-enroll annually. Notice will be sent out when it is time to do so along with a response deadline. If no response is received by the stated deadline, your child’s spot in the program will be made available to another family.

Registration will be available for the full year from fall through summer.

SIBLING AND MEMBER PRIORITY REGISTRATION SRSRC members have priority in the preschool program. To be considered as a member, your child must be listed on your active membership account.

Membership accounts must be under the parent/legal guardian with the child listed on the parent’s/legal guardian’s account. This priority system is also used for the waiting list system. You may add your child to the waiting list at www.srsrc.com.

ADMISSION FORMS It is the parent’s responsibility to complete the registration forms before the child’s first day of attendance. The forms are in your registration packet and are required by the State of California’s Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Division. Your child will not be able to attend the program until all required forms have been completed and turned in. Please keep our daycare within code, by continuing to provide the Center with any important changes in phone numbers, addresses, or names on your emergency or pick-up list.

TUITION AND SCHEDULE ANNUAL REGISTRATION FEE An annual, non-refundable registration fee is due at the time of enrollment to secure a space for your child. This fee and monthly tuition will be billed to your membership account or child care account. The tuition rate is figured off a monthly rate, which may fluctuate during the months when there is a whole week or more off of school.

TUITION POLICY Monthly tuition bills will be issued for your child and are due by the 20th of each month. The billed amount is determined by the school schedule option you have selected for your child(ren). A late fee of $15.00 will be applied for payments made after the 20th. Please note that tuition is not prorated for missed days or absences

SCHOOL YEAR The school year begins on Monday, August 12, 2025 and concludes on Tuesday, August 5, 2026.

NON-MEMBER CREDIT CARD CHARGE AUTHORIZATION Non-members must complete a Recurring Credit Card Payment Authorization form to finalize their registration. The monthly account balance will be automatically deducted between the 5th and 8th of each month. At the time of enrollment, the provided credit card information will also be used to collect the annual, nonrefundable registration fee. Registration is considered incomplete until both the authorization form and the fee are submitted. A non-member account will be set up exclusively for sending program-related invoices. Please note, this account does not grant membership privileges at SRSRC.

PAYMENT AND ACCOUNT POLICIES If a check for tuition, yearly registration, field trips, or related program fees is returned due to insufficient funds, all associated bank charges and a $15.00 fee will be added to your account.

For past-due accounts, including online registrations for other SRSRC programs, a written notification requiring payment within 14 calendar days will be sent. Accounts that remain unpaid may result in delayed enrollment, suspension, or dismissal from the program. Members using services while carrying delinquent membership fees may also face program termination. SRSRC reserves the right to discontinue services at any time for unpaid accounts. Additionally, all account information may be used for collection activities as necessary.

ABSENCES When your child will be absent, please notify the Program Director by telephone or email by 10:00 a.m. that day. Failure to notify the program may result in a $15.00 charge added to your account. Because our program and licensing requirements force us to engage staff based on the number of children enrolled, we cannot give refunds, credits, or exchanges for days your child is absent.

PROGRAM WITHDRAWAL If you would like to discontinue enrollment in the program, a 30-day written notice is required.

SCHEDULE CHANGES To meet capacity and staffing requirements, your schedule for your child(ren) must remain consistent throughout the school year. If you wish to make a schedule change, a written request must be submitted at least 30 days in advance. Schedule adjustments will be accommodated based on space availability and require approval from the Program Director.

Please note that Scripps Ranch Swim & Racquet Club reserves the right to modify schedules, program hours, and monthly tuition rates with a 30-day notice.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT DAYS Each school year, the preschool will be CLOSED between the end of the school year and the beginning of the new school year. This allows our teachers to prepare the curriculum for the new school year.

PROGRAM HOLIDAYS SRSRC School Age Programs are closed on non-school days. Tuition is not prorated for holidays unless breaks are a week or longer. However, Mini-Camps, Winter Camps, or Spring Camps may be offered at the Children’s Center or Aviary locations. These ACA-accredited camps are separate from our childcare programs and require an additional fee. Register online at www.srsrc.com on a first-come, first-served basis.

SRSRC Preschool is CLOSED on the following dates: Labor Day - Monday, September 1, 2025 Veterans Day Observance - Tuesday, November 11, 2025 Thanksgiving - Thursday, November 27, 2025 and Friday, November 28, 2025 Winter Break - Wednesday, December 24, 2025 through Thursday, January 1, 2026 Martin Luther King Jr. Day - Monday, January 19, 2026 President’s Day - Monday, February 16, 2026 Spring Break - Monday, March 30, 2026 through Friday, April 3, 2026 Memorial Day - Monday, May 25, 2026 Juneteenth - Friday, June 19, 2026 Independence Day - Saturday, July 4, 2026 Staff Development Days - Wednesday-Friday before the following school year.

HEALTH AND SAFETY FACILITY ACCESS

For improved security, the front door to the Children’s Center has a number code lock. Each family enrolled in the program will receive their own code allowing them entrance into the facility during normal business hours. Please do not share this code or allow your children access without parent supervision.

CHILD ABUSE REPORTING The staff is required by law to report suspected child abuse to the proper authorities.

The telephone number of the Child Protective Services is (619) 560-2191. The Family Stress Center (619) 691-1331 assists families with stressful times and provides suggestions for parenting techniques.

PROGRAM/PARENT COMMUNICATIONS Communication is essential for any program to be successful. We encourage communications between the program staff and parents. Please let the teachers know if your child is on any medication, had a difficult morning, or any other information that you feel is relevant.

Besides communicating directly with the parent, the teachers will keep the parents informed of any/all classroom information by: 1. Posting information on the Parent Board (located in the main lobby above the sign in/out sheets).

2. Providing a “Student File Box” (located next to sign in/out sheets). It is the parent’s responsibility to check their child’s file daily for their behavior report, artwork, newsletters, and any possible handouts.

3. Parent Meetings and Parent/Teacher Conferences may be requested by the parent.

4. Monthly Newsletters will be sent home to notify parents of upcoming activities, events and curriculum plans. In addition, for those parents that provide us with their email address, we will send out brief email reminders regarding the program.

If at any time you have any questions or suggestions regarding the program, please contact the Lead Teacher or Preschool Director.

STATEMENT OF RISK RELATED TO COVID-19 An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. By visiting SRSRC, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 for you and your child.

DAILY ILLNESS SCREENINGS SRSRC reserves the right to check participants’ temperatures daily prior to attending programs. Children with a temperature of 100°F or above will not be admitted. Any child who exhibits signs or symptoms of illness will not be allowed to attend youth programs. If a thermometer is not available, SRSRC may utilize a symptom checklist.

It is the parent’s/guardian’s responsibility to HAVE A BACK-UP PLAN in the event that the child must remain home or be picked up from the program due to illness. If a child must be picked up due to illness, the parent is responsible for having the child picked up within 30 minutes.

LICE POLICY SRSRC Preschool Program is a NIT-FREE FACILITY. Please notify the program director immediately if your child has been exposed to or has lice so that we can address the issue as promptly and efficiently as possible. (Daily head checks and proper cleaning.) Early detection is key to getting rid of lice and nits quickly. If live lice and/or nits are found your child will be sent home and can return after becoming nit-free. A check on the hair by the staff/director will be required for return.

EMERGENCY INJURIES AND ILLNESSES

The parent/guardian will be called immediately to pick up their child for emergency injuries requiring medical attention or for serious illness. If the legal guardian cannot be contacted, SRSRC staff will begin contacting the emergency contacts listed for your child.

For an injury or illness believed to be beyond our scope, emergency medical services (911) may be called for emergency treatment. Accident/Incident reports from the supervising staff member or director will be written up and given to the parent. Any expenses for routine or emergency medical care are the responsibility of the parent.

ACCIDENT/INCIDENT REPORTS Accident/Incident Reports or an “Ouch Report” for non-emergency injuries will be written up by the supervising staff member or Program Director and given to the parent.

ILLNESSES AND ABSENCES Notify program staff through Procare on the morning your child will be absent.

Children with any symptoms of illness in the past 24 hours must remain at home for the safety of all. Symptoms of communicable disease may include, but are not limited to, rash, red and watery eyes, fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, congestion or runny nose, and/or a new loss of taste or smell.

Participants with symptoms will not be permitted to remain at the program. If your child exhibits symptoms of COVID-19, testing is recommended. Children with COVID19 may not return until they meet the California Department of Public Health criteria, and SRSRC may apply stricter requirements.

Children sent home with a fever can only return after being fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication and showing improvement or resolution in symptoms. A temperature check may be conducted upon return using a program thermometer.

Children on antibiotics may return after 24 hours of treatment and a doctor’s clearance, provided they meet health criteria.

Children feeling unwell who are unable to comfortably participate in activities may be sent home, even without a fever. SRSRC reserves the right to send a child home if we feel it is in the best interest of the child.

Parents must arrange for pickup within 30 minutes if their child becomes ill during the program; masks may be required until pickup.

Immediately inform the Director if your child has been exposed to, contracted, or shows symptoms of a contagious illness (such as COVID-19, strep throat, viral infection, pinworms, lice, measles, mumps, chicken pox, scarlet fever, etc.). Certain diseases must be reported to licensing and public health authorities.

Depending on the circumstance, the Director may alert other parents that their child may have been exposed to a contagious disease (your child’s name will not be included).

ADMINISTRATION OF MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION OF MEDICATION

California State Licensing regulations do not allow us to administer over the counter medicine (including sunscreen) unless a medication consent form is completed. If your child has a prescribed medication, please notify the Program Director with written instructions. The bottle MUST show: name of child, prescription number, name of the doctor and how many times a day the medication is to be given. The parent must fill out the necessary information on the medication consent form provided by the Director. Please inform the Director of when the medication was last administered.

Some medical services, such as gastrostomy tube or ileostomy bag care, may be out of our scope of expertise. If you have questions about what services can be provided, please request a copy of our Incidental Medical Services Plan.

MEDIA

MEDIA POLICY Scripps Ranch Swim & Racquet Club may take pictures and/or video of participants and activities for the website www.srsrc.com, promotional materials, camp/program projects, and/or for publicity purposes. Please contact the director in writing if you would like to withdraw your photo/media permission. A new withdrawal request must be submitted at the start of each school year or program session.

FINAL NOTE
