Dear Readers, Happy New Year and Welcome to the Spring 2016 edition of the Sports & Activities Directory! The school year is back in full swing and our kids are doing so many wonderful things. They are succeeding on the field and in the classroom. In this issue, be sure to check out such topics as Stoneman Douglas High School DECA story about hosting their annual “Shark Tank Challenge,” an annual event where students present their ideas and inventions to the business community for feedback, just like the popular TV show. Also, JP Taravella High School hosted a career and technical education event for high school kids to learn about career opportunities and trades. Plus, an informative article from Broward College on continuing education right here in our local community. Also, congratulations to Broward County Superintendent Robert W. Runcie for being named Florida’s 2016 superintendent of the year. Please be sure to see our extensive Event section that highlights all the events that are going on in our cities. On February 19th – 21st, the City of Parkland will be hosting its annual Family Fun Fest that includes rides, games, vendors, and entertainment for the entire weekend. And then in March, don’t miss the annual Coral Springs Festival of the Arts and Garden Fest on March 20th. In this issue you’ll also be able to read about the 12U Parkland Rangers Tackle Football team that made it to third place in the Pop Warner National Championships! We could not be more proud of our local boys! Spring season offers so many sports for our children to participate in, including baseball, lacrosse, flag football, track & field and many more. There are some spaces still left in spring leagues. Plus, be sure to check the dates for fall leagues that have registration approaching. I hope you enjoy reading and using the Spring Edition of the Sports & Activities Directory to keep you in the know and help you spend quality time and have fun with your family.
