THE SITUATION Covid-19 has forced a large number of collegiate athletic programs to be postponed or suspended for all or part of the 2020-2021 season. These extraordinary interruptions have created a great deal of hardship and uncertainty for athletes, coaches and programs. Everyone caught in this dilemma is struggling with how/where to train and, if possible, how/where to compete. No one wants to miss an entire year of training and competition if there is any reasonable alternative available.

THE SOLUTION SPIRE IA, the multi-sport mega-campus located in Northeast Ohio, has a solution for this exact problem.

The size and scope of our campus, our extensive training facilities in seven different sports (basketball, swimming, track and field, soccer, lacrosse, volleyball and esports), our various room and board options, and all of the required support features and services is second to none. This makes the SPIRE campus uniquely suited to create a select number of training and competition bubbles at times throughout the 2020-2021 school year that best suit collegiate players and teams. And this bubble experience can address both training and competition demands from athletes, teams and even entire conferences.

THE BUBBLE PROCESS SPIRE has studied successful “bubble� environments recently introduced at the professional sport level and will be instituting a similar game plan geared toward minimizing exposure to Covid-19 to the absolute best of our ability. The crucial objective will be to maintain control of the number of teams competing; the numbers of players/staff attending; the training and competition schedules; the housing environment; the food service delivery; transportation; facility space utilization; the number of guests and spectators allowed (if any); Covid-19 testing and quarantine procedures; facility cleaning protocols; etc. More specifics to be provided upon request.

SPIRE DEFINED SPIRE’s 300+ acre campus with 750,000 sq ft of indoor training and competition facilities makes it one of the largest and best-equipped indoor sports facilities in North America. SPIRE offers a national/international academy for high school and post grad athletes. It provides physical, mental and nutritional performance training as well as sports-specific training/competition in swimming, track and field, basketball and esports.

SPIRE’S experienced coaching staff conducts academy, camp, club and skill development programs in all the above sports and runs league play in soccer and volleyball as well. SPIRE is a highly respected event operator and hosts countless meets and tournaments each year in multiple sports. They include those organized by the NCAA, and the Big East, Big Ten and Atlantic 10 conferences. Olympic trials and world championship qualifiers have also been hosted at SPIRE.

ACADEMY PROGRAM OBJECTIVES The multi-sport Academy program at SPIRE creates the ideal environment for long term athletic development.

Its primary objective is to train and develop young men and women to realize their maximum potential as students, as athletes and as individuals. The following “Academy” components will also be available to all the collegiate athletes who choose to participate in a customized “Bubble Program” at SPIRE: • Athletes and coaches have TBD daily blocks of time up to 7 days a week to work on skills and technique, tactics and strategy, and honing competitive capabilities.

• SPIRE Performance Strength/Conditioning staff will make players stronger, faster, quicker and more agile athletes with greater endurance.

• SPIRE Performance Mental Skills Training will teach them how to focus and concentrate, cope with adversity, and deal with the pressures of competition.

• SPIRE Performance Nutrition will get players to understand the importance of a nutritious diet, learn how to eat properly, and recognize the dangers of dehydration.

• The college preparatory curriculum at SPIRE is cross-curricular and collaborative. It’s also experiential and not grade level restricted. This means SPIRE has the educational team available to assist college athletes who may be going to school and studying remotely, while training and playing on campus.

• SPIRE is committed to helping every student develop stronger personal life skills including self-discipline, compassion, trust, humor, patience, communication, relationship building and selflessness.

• SPIRE follows stringent Covid -19 guidelines throughout campus to ensure that the onsite experience is as safe and healthy as possible for student athletes and staff.

PROGRAM DURATION OPTIONS SPIRE is open for business every day, all week, every month, all year long. While SPIRE’S core Academy program runs for the length of the school year, it is not the only program duration we offer. If weekly or monthly sessions are requested for a particular segment of student athlete (i.e. collegians) we will customize program schedules to service this demand.

This program includes room, board, skills and performance training (strength and conditioning, mental skills and nutrition/hydration guidance) and competition. Group discounts are available for teams over 12 athletes.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES & HIGHLIGHTS • SPIRE, under new ownership/management since Dec. 2019, is located in Geneva, Ohio about 40 minutes east of Cleveland. SPIRE features a co-ed environment with a diverse mix of races, cultures and creeds.

• SPIRE’S onsite Academic Center is brand new and state-of-the-art.

• SPIRE Basketball features 5 hardwood floors and two new Dr. Dish shooting machines • SPIRE Swim has a 10 lane, 50 meter Olympic-sized pool that can be converted to 25 yard or 25 meter courses. It also features a separate 25 yard pool, 4 therapy pools, underwater video stroke and power analysis equipment.

• SPIRE’S Outdoor T&F Stadium has lights and seating for 10,000 and features an 8 lane, 400-meter polyurethane international track (48’ width lanes), 4 long jump pits, 8 high jump positions and 4 pole vault boxes; plus, an adjacent Throws Stadium that meets IAAF standards.

• SPIRE’S Indoor T&F Stadium has seating for 4,000 and features an 8 lane, 300-meter Beynon track, with the radius used on outdoor tracks, a separate field event area with 2 high jump, 2 long jump, 2 pole vault pits, 2 shot put circles and portable weight throw cages for discus, shot and weight throws.

• The 25,000 sq. ft. Performance Training Center (w/ expert performance coaches) is integral component of every SPIRE athletic development experience.

• SPIRE Fuel is the nutritious, onsite kitchen/cafeteria that understands exactly how to feed the student athlete.
