Welcome Cattlemen!

We are excited to invite you to our Annual Production Sale this year and to present this offering for your inspection! We truly enjoy getting to raise Angus cattle and marketing seedstock and are excited every spring to present the breeding decisions from two-years-ago for you to evaluate. This set of cattle has performed tremendously. They are the heaviest muscled bulls we have ever offered and the most uniform high-quality set of females we have ever sold.

Our focus long has been on making the best Angus cow we possibly can. We don’t tolerate mothering challenges, teat and udder size problems, or poor temperament. Cows that make us upset for any reason get culled, plain and simple. We don’t want problems and darn sure don’t want to pass them along to our customers. Through very careful sire selection, and heavy use of certain bulls we have been able to really advance our maternal objectives. We don’t use a lot of different sires, and for good reason. Our goal is to build a cowherd, stacked with like genetics, full of consistency and predictability, identifying the bulls that will make our females better each generation.

In our continual pursuit of female advancement, we have also really elevated our ET program. By doing this we can take our very best cows and rapidly assemble numerous daughters from them. The influence of our ET program reigns heavily in this year’s sale offering. Nearly 1/3 of the bulls are out of donor dams, as well as several of the feature heifers.

In short, it is truly our belief that if the cows work, everything else will fall into place. The female component of what we do has to be at the forefront of every decision. If the cows aren’t hard working, good uddered, good producing females, with excellent feet and fertility nothing else matters. There is no reason to accept problem cows and even less reason to keep them around.

This set of calves was weaned in late September and started onto feed well. We had a hot, fly ridden summer as did much of you in the northern plains. These bulls and heifers grew exceptionally well this past winter. As always, our bulls will be backed down on energy, transitioned to almost an entirely forage diet and ready to go to grass and get cows bred. These bulls live in large pens, get lots of exercise and will be sound, hard, heavy muscled, and ready to get to work. The heifers have been managed the same as always. Every heifer on the ranch gets the same ration, and these females are cycling, had their pre-breeding shot in mid-March and will be ready to breed immediately

All registered lots in this sale have genomic enhanced EPDs and are parent verified through the AngusGS test. By doing this, we ensure not only the pedigree we are selling but also offer the most accurate EPD data available. Scrotal measurements will be available on our web site by mid-April. The sale offering and their dams are available for viewing anytime ahead of the sale. We would also like to invite you to our ranch on Sunday afternoon and evening to view the cattle and enjoy a supper that will be served Sunday evening at 6 pm.

Terms of the sale are cash. Payment is due on sale day. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. Any bidding disputes will be settled by the auctioneer.

Semen Test:

All bulls in the sale have been fertility tested and have passed a breeding soundness exam performed by Dr. Nate Zieman, DVM. Scrotal measurements will be available by mid April.

Ultrasound Carcass Data:

Ultrasound carcass data collected by Jason McLennan on all the bulls is listed with their individual Lot in the catalog and has been adjusted to 365 days of age.

Herd Health:

At weaning our calves were given: Bovi-Shield Gold + One Shot, Vision 7+somnubac, Ferappease, and dewormed with Safegaurd. They were boostered with Bovi-Shield Gold 5 and Vision 7. This spring the bulls and heifers have all been given Bovishield-Gold 5VL5, and have been poured. The bulls will have received Fusogaurd for footrot by sale time. Our entire cowherd is fecal tested annually for Johnes to continue to ensure our 100% negative status. All of the sale cattle are negative for BVD-PI. Herd health performed by Dr. Nate Zieman, DVM - Sheyenne, ND.

Genomic Enhanced EPDs:

All registered sale lots have genomic enhanced EPDs by the AngusGS test. Also, all registered lots have their parentage verified.

Delivery:

1000 mile free delivery on bulls to central points. Delivery beyond at cost. Canadian deliveries to the nearest port of entry. Mexico deliveries will be the responsibility of the purchaser. If you bring your trailer and haul your purchases home sale day, we will give you a $50 discount per bull.

Guarantee:

All cattle sell under the standard terms and conditions of the American Angus Association. All of the bulls are fully guaranteed against injury or death by Spickler Ranch South for their first breeding season. Every individual in the sale has been determined to be free of known defects through a combination of DNA and pedigree assessment.

Spickler Ranch South is located 120 miles northwest of Fargo, 140 northeast of Bismarck, and approximately 50 miles north of Jamestown.

From Carrington, the ranch is 14 1/2 miles east or 11 1/2 miles west of Glenfield on State Highway 200.

Airport Transportation:

Both Fargo and Bismarck are approximately 2 hours from the ranch and are served by most major airlines. Jamestown is 45 minutes from the ranch and served by United Airlines.

Selection Tools /Abbreviations

GROWTH

Calving Ease Direct (CED) is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in firstcalf heifers. It predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when he is bred to first-calf heifers.

Birth Weight EPD (BW) expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit birth weight to his progeny compared to that of other sires.

Weaning Weight EPD (WW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires.

Weaning Weight EPD (WW) expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit birth weight to his progeny compared to that of other sires.

Yearling Weight EPD (YW) expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires.

Scrotal Circumference EPD (SC) expressed in centimeters, is a predictor of the difference in transmitting ability for scrotal size compared to that of other sires.

MATERNAL

Maternal Milk EPD (Milk) is a predictor of a sire’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability as expressed in his daughters compared to daughters of other sires. In other words, it is that part of a calf’s weaning weight attributed to milk and mothering ability.

CARCASS

The genetic evaluation produces a single set of EPDs for carcass weight, marbling score, Ribeye area and fat thickness. The units of measure are in carcass trait format and analyzed on an age-constant basis.

Marbling EPD (Marb) expressed as a fraction of the difference in USDA marbling score of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.

Ribeye Area EPD (RE) expressed in square inches, is a predictor of the difference in ribeye area of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.

WR - The number of calves a dam has weaned and their combined average 205 weight ratio (100 = average)

About the Data

$VALUE INDEXES

$Value indexes, are multi-trait selection indexes to assist beef producers by adding simplicity to genetic selection decisions. $Values are reported in dollars per head, where a higher value is more favorable. The $Value is an estimate of how future progeny of each sire are expected to perform, onaverage, compared to progeny of other sires in the database if the sires were randomly mated to cows and if calves were exposed to the same environment.

Maternal Weaned Calf Value ($M) - an index expressed in dollars per head, predicts profitability differences in progeny due to genetics from conception to weaning. $M is built off of a self-replacing herd model where commercial cattlemen replace 25% of their breeding females in the first generation and 20% in subsequent generations. Remaining cull females and all male progeny are sold as feeder calves. Increased selection pressure on $M aims to decrease overall mature cow size and improve foot structure and fertility while maintaining weaning weights consistent with today’s production.

Beef Value ($B) an index expressed in dollars per carcass, facilitates simultaneous multi-trait genetic selection for feedlot and carcass merit. $B represents the expected average differences in the progeny postweaning performance and carcass value compared to progeny of other sires. This index assumes commercial producers wean all male and female progeny, retain ownership of these animals through the feedlot phase and market these animals on a quality-based carcass grid.

Combined Value ($C) an index, expressed in dollars per head, which includes all traits that make up both Maternal Weaned Calf Value ($M) and Beef Value ($B) with the objective that commercial producers will replace 20% of their breeding females per year with replacement heifers retained within their own herd. The remaining cull heifer and steer progeny are then assumed to be sent to the feedlot where the producers retain ownership of those cattle and sell them on a quality-based carcass merit grid.

BW - Actual birth weight taken within 12 hours of age with a digital scale.

205 Wt - Weaning weight adjusted to 205 days of age.

205 Wt Ratio - The percentage above or below average (100=average) a bull is for his 205 day weaning weight.

365 Weight - Yearling weight adjusted to 365 days.

365 Weight Ratio - The percentage above or below average (100=average) a bull is for his 365 day yearling weight.

IMF - The percent intramuscular fat (marbling)adjusted to 365 days of age.

IMF Ratio - The percent above or below average (100=average) a bull or female is for its marbling scan within its contemporary group.

RE - Each bull’s ribeye area measured in square inches and adjusted to 365 days of age.

RE Ratio - Ther pecentage above or below average (100=average) a bull is for his adjusted ribeye area.

B. Fat - The off-test backfat measured in inches adjusted to 365 days of age.

B. Fat Ratio - The percentage above or below average (100=average) a bull is for his fat thickness.

We make every effort we can to provide meaningful and beneficial data to help make the most educated purchasing decisions possible.Starting with an actual birthweight taken on a digital scale, we also gather DNA at this point on every calf that will be incorporated into verifying parentage and the genomic enhancement of each registered lots Epds. Epds are a powerful selection tool, that can be readily used to compare the cattle within our sale offering for genetic differences. Every lot we sell has their Epds enhanced through the DNA analysis of the AngusGS test, providing further accuracy to each animal. We also provide ratios on each animal to provide how they ranked and performed against their herd mates. Ratios are a powerful tool, gaining real insight into how much above or below average cattle perform relative to their pen mates. Ratios should not be used to compare cattle between different herds, although Epds can and should be used to compare cattle across different herds.

Reference Sires

Coalition came to us from U2 ranch in Alberta as their high selling Angus bull in 2016. How time flies, it is hard to imagine that we are already offering our sixth group of his sons. Coalition has established himself as one of the really good sires we have ever used. He has an uncanny ability to make cattle good. From the ground up, the phenotype he stamps his progeny with is nearly unparalleled amongst any sires we’ve used in recent times. His bulls look like bulls and his daughters look like females. He puts a big, wide, expressive hip and great structure into his progeny while consistently improving breed character as he really puts a nice, Aberdeen head on his sons and daughters. We attribute much of the potency he has as a sire to the incredibly good female he is out of. Erelite 109Z is one of the absolute best Angus cows we have ever seen, and Coalition puts her small teats, and quality udder unfailingly into his daughters. We lost Coalition this past summer after a breeding injury. His semen is limited and this will be one of the last offerings of his progeny we will have. Forever cemented into our herd will be the legacy of this great sire, living on through his many productive, and strong producing daughters. Retained from his calf crop, Wrangler is one of the really complete bulls visually we have ever raised. He exhibits tremendous muscle shape, power and structural correctness that was unparalleled amongst his peers. A Coalition son, he is double bred to the performance, muscle, and maternal sire, Chisum, who has his footprint all over our program. We sold possession and an interest in Wrangler to M Diamond Angus, WY and recently a breeding interest to Botts Angus, MT as well. 2024 is our third offering of Wrangler sons. He has put his stamp on his progeny. His sons are muscle bulls, exhibiting real, raw muscle shape. They are largely calving ease bulls, yet still present strong performance and as much visual muscle as any sire group we are offering. Wrangler daughters are beauties as they have come into production. Angular and Angus headed in their make-up, they show tremendous rib shape and muscle expression, much like their male counterparts. Their maternal temperament is top-notch and they have very good udders. Wrangler is a calving ease sire who adds muscle, pounds, and sure looks to enhance maternal and will be a part of our program for years to come. 20 sons sell May 6!

Armstrong topped out 2022 bull sale offering selling to STGenetics for $90,000. A bull that created quite a stir the spring he sold, he presents an appealing and balanced Epd profile, ranking in the breeds elite for several traits. We used him back heavily in our program that spring and are extremely excited to market this large group of his progeny. He has far exceeded our hopes and expectations with his first calf crop. Proven to work in heifer breeding projects, his calves are born small, have tremendous vigor and performed with the best of this calf crop. His sons are really attractive bulls, rich in breed character in terms of their head and neck, and expressive in the muscle shape they display down their top and through their quarter. The female side of his progeny has us even more excited than his sons. Armstrong’s heifers are really long bodied, growthy females, with a lot of performance and the multi-generational backing of really strong females for maternal temperament and udder quality. The dam behind Armstrong combines some of our absolute most proven female genetics. Her pedigree is a bit of a who’s who amongst know female making sires as she combines Foundation, Game Day and Right Time. We purchased Heritage as the $36,000 second high selling bull of the 2022 Midland bull test. A bull that we really admired due to his body, mass, performance, and added size, what really sealed the deal on him for us was the strength of the females behind him. Stemming from two of Leachman’s most elite producing cows, his dam and grand dam record weaning ratios of 6/112 and 9/110 respectively. Heritage was incorporated heavily into our breeding program and has excelled greatly as a sire. A modest birth sire, he adds performance, length and size to every pedigree we mated him to. His sons will be some of the real stout, good numbered, high performance bulls we have on offer. Our Heritage daughters are beauties – deep bodied and stout, with extra length and performance, they just might be his most valuable genetic contribution. This year’s sale offering marks the third group of Tahoe progeny we’ve marketed and we couldn’t be more pleased with how this great sire has worked on our females. A new sire-group for our sale offering this year is True North. He is a sire that we have watched for several years and really appreciate the practical, functional traits he excells for. A sure-fire calving ease bull, he has been likened by ABS as the “Ext of this generation,” due to the quality females he is producing around the country. We used this proven sire on a couple of our donor females as well as some of our very select, low birth cows, hoping to produce some very top-notch maternally driven progeny with added calving ease. New to our reference sire line-up this year is the proven Genex calving ease sire, Justified. He is a sire that we have admired from a far for many years and so appreciate the reliable, hardworking daughters he has become well known for. A bull with added marbling genetics and proven calving ease, we used him primarily on a couple of our elite donor females and couldn’t be more pleased with the results. Lots 1,2,3 When we had the opportunity to purchase U2 Erelite 109Z in the historic U2 dispersion, we knew fully that she was a special female. Our experience with her son Coalition and his ability to breed so true phenotypically had us very firm in our belief in the power she possessed as a breeding tool. The last two sales we have sold a couple different groups of her ET progeny, and they have been front end cattle, very much adding to our sale offering and our replacement pen. As we unveil our 2024 bull sale offering the sheer impact this cow can have on a breeding program is unreal. We will offer three groups of her ET sons, sired by Justified, Armstrong and True North. Each one of these flushes worked. She simply added power, muscle, performance, eye-appeal, and strength to every mating.

Justified is a bull that we have admired for many years and never made the decision to use him. A highly proven sire of great females, with calving ease and added marbling, we thought he might cross very well with 109Z. The resulting calves from this mating are far more than we ever imagined. They are the heaviest muscled group of bulls in the entire sale, with performance upon performance. They all weaned heavy, grew fast to a year and are incredibly consistent in their phenotype. With the look this set of bulls holds, they are bulls that will add a real muscle look and power to their progeny. The first son we are offering by Armstrong and what a herd bull prospect he is. A standout since early last summer, Lot 4 is one of the most complete bulls numerically, phenotypically, and maternally as any in this sale. This bull has a presence about him, and abundance of good. He is a striking individual, who travels with a sense of class and presence that separates him from his pen mates. So balanced in his build, he is a strong topped, level-hipped right structured bull that is fun to see in motion or standing still. Presenting himself with a real maternal, female building look, he is soft in his rib shape and design, yet still is masculine fronted, expressive down his top and displays extra shape in his lower quarter and stifle. These bulls, and their flush mates, Lots 43, 44, 45 and 96 are one of the most impressive and uniform groups of full brother bulls we have ever offered. Chuck full of muscle, these are real performance bulls who weaned well, gained at the top of the group over winter, and came in heavy at yearling weight time. Lot 8-9 We are excited about having the influence of True North in our herd due to his ability to really complement some of our firm breeding objectives. A sire that ABS has likened to the “EXT of this generation,” he has the maternal strength in his pedigree and the proof in pastures around the country that we feel he will continue to help our maternal advancement. The decision was made to flush 109Z to him hoping to capitalize on her power and mass, while expecting True North to keep birth in check, help add body depth, and compliment her maternal strength. This bull is a stud. He is one of the absolute most impressive bulls in our entire offering. His combination of calving ease, performance, and absolute muscle set him apart as one of the real good bulls we’ve kicked out. Visually, he is really fun to evaluate. A tremendously well balanced bull, he is strong topped, right in his leg structure and displays muscle shape down his top and into the lower third of his quarter that would make many bulls envious. The second son of Heritage that we will offer and a standout bull that has been on our list of favorites since early last summer. A bull that combines so many numerical and performance indexes well, he is plain fun to look at. This calf is super good headed, neat fronted and full of Angus breed character. From there he transitions into a big topped, wide hipped bull with a great big rear end. He weaned heavy off of his high quality, mature Coalition dam and grew well to a year weighing in at 1330 pounds. He backs up the visual muscle he displays very confidently with his 15.2 inch ribeye measurement. His dam is a strong producing, small teated, easy going daughter of Coalition that we can always count on to bring in a good one. Lot 13, 14, 15 When we made the decision to flush Pine Coulee Everelda W77 to Architect, I remember thinking this could be really cool. A true power on power mating. I bet these calves will be studs. It’s fun when what we envision could happen comes together phenotypically. These three bulls are as stout, heavy muscled, high performing, and just plain cool in their structure as any bulls in the entire sale offering. To say this mating worked, doesn’t do it justice. Their donor dam is a genuinely good cow. 15-years-old this spring, she is as sound as ever, has great feet, is easy to get along with and shows no signs of slowing down. Her pedigree is a true compilation of “who’s who” in the maternal history of Angus cattle. Stemming from the legendary Sitz Everelda Entense 1137, she carries with her the lineage of the female making greats, Net Worth, EXT, Rainmaker 340 and Traveler 124. Big time performance prospect by Armstrong who weaned off over 800 pounds. This really long bodied, deep flanked, soft made bull boasts nearly a +100 weaning Epd and one of the highest yearling Epds in the entire offering. A calf that has stood out since early last summer, this nearly 15-inch ribeye bull traces back to a Bomber daughter by donor dam Elba 1004. His dam, 0203, is a good sized, really deep bodied, deep flanked female who is off to a great start, recording a progeny weaning ratio of 2/116. When we used Bomber, this flush that produced this bull’s dam was noted by many for the amount of mass, substance and shape that they had, it was one of the really good flushes we have had out of the great Elba donor. This Armstrong son has literally done everything right every time we’ve measured his performance. He came off his dam well, ratioing 112 at weaning, gained nearly 4 lbs/day over winter, indexed 114 at yearling, scanned above average for ribeye and ratioed 154 for marbling. Visually he is a good sized bull, offering more frame than most of his contemporaries, but doing that in a very favorable package. Presenting enough rib and flank depth, he is a very expressively muscled, shapely designed bull that is very clean through his head and neck. Big, stout, high growth Tahoe son that is good from every angle. This big butted, wide hipped, deep chested bull was the high-indexing natural calf at weaning with and 842 pound 205 wt to ratio 127. He continued to grow well to a year weighing in at nearly 1350 pounds, scanned with a 15.7 inch ribeye and ratioed 132 for marbling. A pair of True North ET bulls out of donor Elba 1004, and first of five sons by her to sell in a row. When we flushed Elba to True North it was our hope to really compound the maternal strength of both pedigrees, while hopefully being able to offer some real top-notch calving ease genetics. The progeny that resulted selling as Lots 22 and 23 fully encapsule what we were hoping to get. These are a really good pair of calving ease bulls. Moderate framed, attractive fronted, they are refined enough in their build to confirm their calving ease, yet stout enough with enough muscle shape to make them very likeable bulls. Numerically, both lots are high CED, negative BW individuals who both started life out very small. The full sisters to these bulls are some of the nicest, deepest bodied, stoutest heifers we have. Lot 30 is a heavy weaning, high performing Heritage son with worlds of growth adding potential. This big middled, deep flanked, good sized bull indexed 118 as his dam’s first calf, and came in over 1300 pounds at a year to earn a 109 yearling ratio. Numerically he offers as much weaning and yearling potential as any bull in this sale with Epds of +100 and +157 respectively. This thick topped, wide hipped Armstrong son is really cool in his build from his shoulder forward, exhibiting a lot of class, style and breed character. What a good Heritage son we find in Lot 32. This stocky fella, is thick from front to rear, and only knows how to grow and perform at a high level. He weaned off heavy, earning a 110 index, and continued to grow well, weighing in at nearly 1300 pounds at yearling. The first Triumph son to sell in this years offering and what a bull he is. A sire group that was really well received last spring, this good scamp has literally done everything right. An early favorite last summer, he quickly grew after starting life out at only 76 pounds, raced to a 116 weaning ratio, and continued to perform at every measuring point indexing 105 at a year, 100 for ribeye and 120 for marbling. Lot 40 and 41 – Back in 2019 we sold a really good Coalition son who bore the tag Lot 40 and freeze brand, 8124. He ended up in the Miller Angus of Draper, SD herd and did a really good job there as a resident herd sire. In all our flushing, it dawned on us that we would really like some full sisters to that bull, so we flushed his dam, Heiress 193 to Coalition and here we are, offering the bull mates of that flush as Lots 40 and 41. It seemed only fitting that we work the sale order out so that in 2024 Lot 40 is a full brother to that great bull that sold back in 2019.

Enough history, this is a good pair of bulls. Lot 40 is a herd bull candidate and easy find in our bull pen. He is wide through his chest, expressive in his forearm, and explosive in his muscle pattern as it carries from front to rear. The second in a pair of Triumph sons and what a bull this calf is. A strong indexing bull, he is visually pleasing, very balanced in design. Thick topped, wide pinned, and extra stout, he still is clean through his head and neck with a very Aberdeen-Angus appearance. He backs up his visually evident muscle with one of the largest ribeyes in the offering, scanning a 16.5 inch to ratio 115. His dam is a powerhouse of a cow and certainly one of the favorite females we own. Lot 46, 47 – A pair of full brother True North bulls out of donor dam, Heiress 193. When we flushed Heiress to True North our hope was to create some real functional, high maternal replacement females and sons with a pedigree combination for maternal strength that would make them very valuable and useful bulls. This pair of very high CED, negative birth Epd bulls couldn’t of pleased us more. They are good looking bulls, built through their shoulders and neck like they will totally live out their calving ease potential, yet they ultrasounded with all kinds of muscle. Lot 46 has a 15.5 inch ribeye and Lot 47 scanned a 16.2 inch ribeye. Rare to find in bulls with this much bred in calving ease potential, these dudes still offer real muscle, and the ability to put real pounds into their low birth weight progeny. Their donor dam makes good ones over and over. Lots 59-61 - Lots 59, 60 and 61 are an exciting combination of Coalition and donor dam Elba 1004. These bulls offer as much phenotype, style, and eye-appeal as any three bulls in the entire offering. They are stout boned, big quartered bulls that are chuck full of muscle. This will be the first time we have offered bulls from this mating, although we sold a full sister in 2019 who ended up creating quite a stir and was the high selling female of that sale. This past spring we calved out two more full sisters. They are about as good as it gets. Ultra quiet, great mothers, with tidy small teated udders. Real good Tahoe son we find in Lot 64. This bull is a strong performing individual who ratioed 108 at weaning, while scanning above average for both marbling and ribeye. On paper he offers performance advancing growth Epds, while being backed by one of the really good old cows on the entire ranch. Summit made quite the name for himself as a female making sire, and cows like the dam of Lot 64 are exactly why. She is quiet, good mannered, high producing, good uddered and still around and working at 12 years of age. This combined with the udder function and quality we’ve experianced with Tahoe would make this performance geared bull a great one to keep daughters from.

Phenotypic gem by Armstrong and a standout his whole life.This April bull is put together about as nicely structurally as we could make one. Starting from the ground up, he stands on tremendous depth of heel, places his legs down correctly and accurately, and bulges with muscle. When viewing him from behind he is so expressive in his rear quarter and this carries over his hip and down his topline. Scanning nearly a 16 inch ribeye, this strong performance ratio bull backs up his perceived visual muscle. This early April Unanimous son is as good of a performance bull as there is in the entire offering. His age didn’t affect his ability to compete at the bunk one bit as he weaned heavy and grew fast to a year, recording a 1328-pound yearling weight to ratio 110. With added frame, he ranks in the top 10% of the breed for weaning and yearling Epds and has the look of a sire that will make calves that can’t help but grow. Lots 90-91 - The last of the Justified bulls out of donor dam 109Z. These two calves resulted from a later implant date and are right at a month younger than their sale headlining full brothers. Even with their age disadvantage to their ET siblings, it is really fun to see the genetic and phenotypic consistency in these calves. Lots 90 and 91 are really good bulls. Thick from every angle, they are stout, heavy muscled, performance adding bulls that are going to put pounds into their progeny without raising frame goals. Both of these bulls scanned with lots of ribeye and Lot 90 actually had the biggest ribeye of the entire flush with a 16.6 inch measurement, while having an adjusted yearling weigh of 1291 pounds. That’s a lot of muscle in a bull that doesn’t quite weigh 1300. We again see the dominance of 109Z through these bulls. She doesn’t know how to have calves that don’t rise to the top. Take time to find these bulls on sale day, although younger than their flush mates they are really quality bulls with worlds of genetic advancement in them.

This end of March bull is an absolute tank. One of our favorites all his life, Lot 92 is thick and muscular everywhere you’d want thickness and muscle. When he faces you, his wide chest and bulging forearm are readily displayed, and when he travels away his expressive stifle and big rear end are very evident. A bull that weaned above average, he gained nearly 4 lbs/day post weaning to secure a 1331 pound yearling weight and a 110 ratio. Maternally his dam is a member of the Bomber x Elba 1004 flush that was so popular in our 2021 sale. A solid producing young female, she is off to a great start with a progeny weaning ratio of 2/107. We are really high on the job Armstrong has done with his first calf crop. He has added length, performance and muscle consistently, while keeping birth weight in check. We love his sons, but really are excited about his females. Stacked generationally for udder quality and likeable maternal temperament and production, they have the look of heifers that will really have influence. The heifer division of our 2024 offering will only feature two of his daughters and they are females that we are super proud to have representing him. Blending two of our very best cow families, they are stacked with quality and have us very excited to show them off. The first one of these females is the Gloria heifer that is being offered as Lot 207. A real gem of a female, she is put together so balanced, being strong topped, level hipped, deep bodied and full of muscle. A high performer herself, she ratioed 116 at weaning and 113 at yearling time. Her dam is an especially powerful Resource daughter of donor dam, Gloria 1146. The other daughter of Armstrong we have chosen to offer in 2024 and what a heifer this female is. Carrying with her the power of the Elba cow family, this long-hipped, big bodied female is really right structurally and fun to put into motion. On paper she is another heifer that only knows how to excel. Absolute performance standout sired by Tahoe. “Minnie 3139” is hard to miss in our pen of sale heifers. A performance leader, she is a really well-balanced, high quality female phenotypically. Recording high, high marks every time her performance was measured, she indexed both 113 at weaning and yearling, 110 for ribeye and 119 for marbling. The phenotype, coupled with the performance it results has been consistently pleasing. Who we are offering as Lot 212 in this sale, is this mating and confirms how well it works. What a heifer we find in Lot 213. This heifer is one of the most appealing heifers visually in the entire offering. A female that we so appreciate for the amount of body depth and mass she contains, she blends and balances a tremendous amount of top shape, hip shape and overall muscle, while still being very attractive through her head and neck. Commercial Heifers - This group of commercial females largely represents the younger, pasture sired portion of our calf crop, and include some of our strongest female genetics. They received a Bovi-shield Gold 5VL5 pre-breeding vaccination and have been poured. They have been developed right along with our replacements all winter, and are ready to breed. Every heifer is a registerable Angus female. Registraton papers are available for $150/head. The heifers will sell in a numeric gate cut in groups of 5 or more starting with Lot 301. The winning bidder can go as deep into the offering as they so choose.
