Karen Wood – President of the Kardia Guild writes, “On June 4th the Kardia Guild had the opportunity to assist the Maternity Perinatal & Infant Loss Team with their T-shirt sale to benefit the Department’s “Resolve Through Sharing” Remembrance Walk. I certainly understand how this program has touched our hearts and why our guild is so passionate about this particular program, as several of you have shared this individual experience with the loss of a newborn child as well. With a cause that is so near and dear to our hearts, our sweet little guild has provided not only monetary donations, but has also provided volunteer support for t-shirt sales and assistance for the day of the event in addition. As most of our guild members know all too well, losing a child is one of life’s biggest tragedies. All that promise, all those hopes, all those possibilities for a bright and successful future disappear in a mere instant leaving so many unanswered questions, grief and heartache that honestly lasts a lifetime. With this in mind, and understanding that so many of our guild members have observed personally of how this wonderful program brings our community together to support each other, we also realize the remembrance and honor that it brings to each and every one of those tiny lives who have gone way too soon. With having once again the opportunity to attend the walk on June 5th it is clear to why this program and event is genuinely in our guild’s heart of hearts. It is so important that we as a guild continue working diligently with Maternity’s Perinatal & Infant Loss Team to ensure that the June 2022 is just as successful. And so, to all of our Kardia Guild members – if you have any suggestions/and or thoughts regarding next year’s event please let Jenny or Sherri know while it is still fresh in your minds, or feel free to share with our members at our next meeting that will be held on July 15th at 12:00pm at Wolford’s Landing. I am so proud of each and every one of you for your sincere compassion, generosity and sincere love that you show to all.” - Karen Wood

Did You Know…

Did you know that in Shakespeare’s time, mattresses were secured on bed frames by ropes? When you pulled on the ropes, the mattress tightened, making the bed firmer. Thus, “goodnight, sleep tight.”
