Why did you join the SOMC Development Foundation Board?
I enjoy serving our community and supporting our local economy. SOMC has a tremendous footprint and responsibility to our community and wanted to be a part of helping it grow for future generations.
What is your favorite part of serving on the board?
Free lunch. Just kidding. I think the people (staff, volunteers, and board members) are tremendously talented with a focus on improving. I’m challenged by others’ leadership and love to learn about all the things that SOMC is doing to provide the best healthcare for our region.
Which foundation event do you look forward to this year?
I loved the Queen of Hearts ball, golf outing and am an avid runner, so definitely looking forward to the Run For Your Life event.
If you could only pick one fund to donate to, which one would you chose and why?
Cancer Compassion Fund; I’ve had close family members and friends pass away from cancer. I’m sure we all have. I love that the money raised for the fund helps families with the expenses while going through treatment.
In one sentence, how would you describe the mission of the SOMC Development Foundation?
Raise as much money as possible to support the growing needs of the hospital through the various funds specific to each healthcare discipline.
