Hooked on Safety

Designing a space saving and elegant pack for Grissinetti Snack Bread

Solutions UK is incredibly proud to feature Nautilus Rigging (UK) Ltd and present the team with its prestigious Commitment to Excellence profile.

When serving on board of flights, space is a virtue valued by airlines when selecting their menus.

A more secure form of lifting is made possible with Nautilus Rigging, an internationally acclaimed manufacturer of self-locking general lifting hooks that has been successfully raising the standards in global workplace safety since its establishment in 2009.

As a supplier to a number of airlines already with their packs of snack breads and cookies, this fact is not lost on Novel Foods whose Grissinetti Snack Bread product is easily identifiable by the neat way the snacks are packed into small clear tubs with peelable printed lidding film.

The revolutionary range of patented ‘Nautilus Hooks’ has been stringently designed to ensure efficiency and operator protection, providing complete reassurance for those working within the lifting industry. Managing Director and Designer, Mr Bill Toon said, “Leading organisations have adopted Nautilus Hooks because the proven safety advantages gained by using our hooks align closely with the stated objectives of corporate safety policies which all aim to reduce injuries and improve workplace safety.”

lock spring. They are individually proof tested, manufactured to the BS/EN 1677-1.2008 standard and remain compliant with the DNV type approval under regulation 2.22 for lifting appliances.

The innovative product is fitted with multiple safety features developed to eradicate the hazard of potentially serious pinch and trap hand injuries that commonly occur with the utilisation of traditional ‘latch lock’ hooks. The functional hook comes with a dual-sided sliding lock mechanism for convenient one-handed operation for both right and left handed users and configuration between handle and lock means arm movement is more flexible, relieving wrist strain.

The company’s newest prototype is based on a ‘positive locking’ design focused on safe, secure, subsea lifting. The NautilusROV Hooks is an industry game-changer, as the first to incorporate advanced technology to provide a Subsea/ROV hook with the ability to keep a load secure until released by the ROV.

Other important advantages of these award-winning hooks is the incorporated safety handle for greater control, an unobstructed internal load bearing profile for a swift load or discharge and an outward opening locking arm which avoids sling snagging behind the latch.

The Nautilus range has great worth in various industrial applications, having been used extensively in construction and mining situations as well as by businesses working on offshore platforms, mobile drilling rigs and within the shipping and port services. To find out more about how you can enhance best practice within your lifting environment then get in touch with Nautilus Rigging today.

Strength is guaranteed courtesy of the robust construction of the hooks, which are made from high-grade carbon alloy steel with an embedded corrosion-resistant marine grade stainless steel

whilst protecting the product integrity, a key factor when supplying airlines, to ensure each and every stick remains intact as it reaches the consumer. “With the help of National Flexible and their reverse print technique, we have created an absolute break through with new style of packaging snack breads and sweet biscuits.” said

The L56SS Bar Feeder Alignment System uses a straight beam of laser light and two targets to centre and position a bar feeder carriage at the right height to automatically supply bar stock material to a lathe spindle. The alignment of the centre of the bar to the centre of the spindle is critical because the bar stock is automatically pushed or fed into the lathe’s spindle in order to begin the machining process. Proper alignment reduces wear on spindle liners and guide bushings, insures correct remnant release and end of bar management and saves valuable setup time. Customers of Accurate Laser Cutting are now taking full advantage of the firm’s dual cutting & forming capabilities more frequently, with the firm witnessing an influx of larger and often more complex types of work. “Our pressbrake centre is equipped to handle materials up to 4 metres long.” explained production manager Neil Tomkins. “This, in combination with our 4m x 2m Fiber laser is most definitely our competitive advantage and is also beneficial to our customers because we can take care of cutting & folding all under one roof, eliminating the hassle of using multiple sub-contractors.” The volume of orders for pressbraking has increased significantly since the new kit was commissioned just less than twelve months ago. This also justifies the firm’s decision to invest over £60,000 in an advanced range of tooling, offering a wider range of flexibility for customers. “For us, it’s all about going that extra mile.” Company Director, Steve Morgan explained, “In the unlikely event of us not having the required tooling, we are always willing to work with the customer to find a solution that meets their tooling needs.” Both pressbrakes are equipped with hydraulic quick change top tooling systems, ensuring rapid set up for economical small batch runs. They cater

for anything from one offs & prototype work through to high volume, large batch quantities on a free issue or complete supply basis. The utilisation of high performance CAD/CAM software BySoft7 & SolidWorks allows for complete integration across their entire range of Bystronic equipment. Improvements to software & offline programming techniques have also streamlined the manufacturing process even further, resulting in greater levels of consistency on finished parts. Company Director, Jon Till concludes, “Pressbraking is a skilled operation and traditionally, a labour intensive process with the need for extra parts to set up on. With BySoft7 & ByBend, this is no longer the case as we can programme & predetermine any limitations offline, removing the risk of error on the shop floor to allow for greater accuracy and increased rates of productivity.” For more information on Accurate Laser Cuttings services, visit: www.accurate-laser.co.uk, email: enquiries@accurate-laser.co.uk or call: +44 (0)121 520 2444.

Building Excellence

Quality homes from Finland Building Solutions UK is extremely proud to present its industry acclaimed and richly deserved Commitment to Excellence editorial to Artichouse.

Artichouse was born in 1979. Starting its life building cabins in Finland with only the occasional export, the company has grown to export cabins around the world.

Picture your dream home and let Artichouse make it a reality. Whether it be post and beam or log home, modern or traditional, the skilled and experienced team use the best raw materials grown in Finnish Lapland along with high quality workmanship and ecological production to create your ideal home.

“We are a Finnish family company who love to design and manufacture bespoke wooden houses – Artichouses,” commented Otto Ikonen of Artichouse. “We have designed and built them for over 30 years and shipped them to over 40 countries. Our company is one of Finland’s top exporters of log houses and log cabins and we have already delivered them to every continent of the Earth.” Houses can be built in a variety of sizes from large log cabins of nearly 1,000m2 to small family homes. From contemporary log cabins, luxury log cabins, holiday villages and commercial buildings, homes can be tailored to suit your individual preferences. With a varied selection of collections on offer including Tunturi, Natural, Alpine, Luxury Coastline, Artic Frame, Artichomes, Log cabins and Eurohome, you’ll be sure to find a design that suits you.

Wood is by far the most durable, ecological and healthy building material. A log house, when built correctly, has a fresh and clean indoor climate all year round and it thus advances health. A natural setting creates peace of mind and well-being. The carbon footprint of a log house is reversed – in other words it is a so called carbon sink.

We believe that individual and ecological houses have demand in the future as well.

“Artichouse builds while cherishing nature,” explained Otto. “Wood is an entirely renewable natural resource. Every year in Finland, less forest is cut down than new is grown in its place. Our wood is unique polar pine that has grown for a long time. It is durable and does not crack. Our energy efficient factory is located in the middle of the best raw materials and the excess energy produced by the factory is directed to the local village’s use.”

“We hope to be a part of building your ideal home. Where ever in the world you wish to build, we are ready to be a part of the process. Contact us, let us plan you a home together, a home where you and your family love to live in!”

“Finnish craftsmanship and a high quality product from Lapland still impress customers,” he concluded. “We have found that realising customers’ wishes has been the best course of action and will continue to do so in the future.

Are you ready for BIM? In 2011 the Government (The Cabinet Office) produced the Government Construction Strategy (GCS), and orchestrated the setup of the BIM Task Group to help deliver the objectives of the GCS. The UK is now very much at the forefront of BIM development and with construction expansion expected worldwide this demonstrates a fantastic opportunity for UK business export for ontracting, engineering and design services. The hypotheses of the BIM Task Group is aligned with the Government’s key objective is to reduce capital cost, the carbon burden and operational expenditure of the built environment by 20%. The ‘BIM’ acronym itself may have outgrown its usefulness since Paul Morrells declaration in 2010 and whilst it may involve technology investment, it is much more about management of information and people than about buying new software. Established in 1989, Man and Machine is part of a pan-European group, operating in 11 countries, with over 750 staff and over 500,000 installed CAD seats. We provide expertise in digital design and data management with over 60 years of combined technical experience and extensive industry. Our specialist knowledge has allowed us to develop a wide variety of services that address the needs of our customers’ across multiple industries to enable them to design, visualise, and simulate to the highest standard. Our goal is to help you optimise your design process. Whether you are in the architecture, plant or construction industries, we have the experience to understand your business and what you are trying to achieve, and we have the expertise to enable you to do it better. It takes many activities and skills to bring the ideas and designs of Architects/Engineers to fulfilment. Building Information Modelling (BIM) attempts to standardise the creation and exchange of information to make the design, construction and operational management of a facility or infrastructure asset more efficient. It is important to note that BIM is not just about buildings, but in its wildest context is being applied to facility, building, road, railway, and infrastructure projects. It is also now very much impacting organisations throughout the supply chain including manufacturers, fabricators and interior designers. The word ‘building’ in itself also doesn’t necessarily describe the full scope of a project – it doesn’t cover policies, assumptions,

strategic decisions, supply chain, specification, user assessment, regulation and recycling sustainability. All are key parts of the projects ‘information model’ and should be included in the creation of the facility or asset information as the project progresses. For many facilities, more information will be created during the operational phase than will be created during the design and construction phases. Structuring data at the outset and quality controlling it through all phases of a project will bring tremendous benefits. BIM is often wrongly associated with just graphical (often 3D models) information. This is only partly true. All forms of correspondence form part of the model: specifications, risk registers, manufacturers technical information, preventative maintenance schedules could all form part of the BIM for example.

Arguably the Government’s first project was funded by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and involved the rebuild of a 180 cell block at Cookham Wood Prison in Kent. The MoJ translated 2D standard designs into required 3D BIM models and involved the customer, the MoJ staff and external contractors throughout using collaborative models and common data environments to support the BIM initiative. BIM is being driven by UK Government, to ensure that all public sector projects are underpinned by the creation, collation and exchange of shared 3D models and intelligent structured data that is attached to them. UK Government has defined a minimum requirement for Level 2 BIM by 2016, which defines a series of domain models and the provision of a single electronic environment to store shared data and information.

The extensive selection comprises grass reinforcement meshes, porous pavers for grass/gravel, weed fabrics & geotextiles, garden planters, fencing & fencing accessories and plant & tree protection products. Tom was particularly keen to tell us more about the paving innovation line, “Our flagship range of porous paving and grass reinforcement products really set the tone for the company as a whole,” he enthused. “We aim to offer parking and ground reinforcement solutions that can co-exist with the greenery of the UK, all of which are SUDS compliant and are an environmentally friendly alternative to concrete or tarmac.” The range of permeable grids are suitable

for a whole variety of end uses from pedestrian pathways, busy & overflow car parks, driveways, up to HGV and fire access routes. The pavers can be either finished with grass or gravel all of which will allow effective drainage. The grass reinforcing range of products has been developed to enable areas of grass to be used for car parking and pedestrian footfall when those areas of grass could not be considered. As the momentum has gathered pace over these past years, the demands for attractive permeable solutions that can use recycled materials (and so reduce carbon footprint) has been increasing at fast rate. Plastic Pavers meet these requirements: please visit www.sure-ground.com to view the range of Plastic Pavers that can cater for pedestrians all the way to the excessive demands imposed by HGV Lorries. Suregreen has a busy year ahead with the launch of its new website and further product lines due mid-summer and plans in place to increase the use of recycled materials within the new and existing selection. When asked about the company’s future movements, Tom said, “We plan to expand on the growth we have already experienced, extending our product ranges and increasing our focus on the trade market. We attend specific and relevant trade shows throughout the year because response to our products at previous shows has always been extremely positive; for 2016 we will be attending The Landscape Show (13-14th September) and Saltex (23rd November).” T +44 (0)1376 503869 sales@sure-green.com www.sure-green.com (main website and shop) www.sure-ground.com (for trade/technical information)

Glass, Glazing & Rooflights News

All you could want from a rooflight…and more The recently launched rooflight range from Alumen, leading SMART and Scheuco fabricator, has been enjoying huge interest in the trade market place. “The range comprises three families – Aether, Helios and Olympus,” explains Alan Robinson, one of Alumen’s Managing Directors. “The traditional expectation of a rooflight is in line with our Aether flat, fixed option with a simple, clean design, glazed edge to edge. But this doesn’t mean it is basic or too boring – the options on size and shape are endless and it is also available as a walk over option which is proving of interest to installers and builders. So far, our initial enquiries have been about the Aether and customers are either excited by its versatility or drawn away towards its more contemporary brother Helios.

Over 25 Years of Industry Excellence

It was during this time when the concept of a Gripple fastener was born. Influenced by a local farmer erecting a field fence through the means of knotting horizontal line wires together, Hugh came up with an idea of a small ‘widget’ that – along with the incorporation of spring loaded steel balls – would do the job most effectively. Three years and many development

phases and test trials later, a viable prototype was launched commercially and Gripple was formed – a brand name combining the words ‘Grip’ and ‘Pull.’

The Sheffield-based business now houses a special facility for its own Ideas & Innovation team, which was put into place to bring ideas to fruition in a world class setting. Also provided is a Drawing Take off Service, which allows clients to receive the best product suitable for their individual needs with the added potential to minimise costly shortage or waste. Gripple’s Catherine King was keen to tell us more about the key advantages of utilising Gripple innovations, “Our products offer a range of benefits including; up to 97% reduction in embodied carbon; 95% reduction in weight; up to 84% quicker to install; and a reduction in combined labour and materials cost of up to 70%,” she enthused. “They are also more aesthetically pleasing compared to Rod and Chain. We export 85% of our products and have offices and manufacturing facilities in Chicago, France, India, and three sites in Sheffield, where most products are manufactured in full.” If you would like any more information about Gripple and its range of civil construction, building services, viticulture, orchards & fencing and seismic & force protection products, then please use the contact details supplied below. HEDGE TRIMMERS HC150

Decades of progression passed, allowing Gripple’s offerings to become popularised across a range of industries. Its dedicated construction product ranges are available for M&E, HVAC, lighting, signage and acoustic panel applications and have proven to be incredibly valuable whilst utilised in agriculture, construction, civil engineering and seismic environments.

Back in 1985 the promising entrepreneur found himself on a wet hillside in Wales listening to the anguish of a frustrated farmer who was becoming increasingly agitated with the traditional methods of joining fence wires. Finding bending and knotting to be cumbersome and tedious processes, it seemed a better way to connect two pieces of wire was much needed, and upon discussing this matter Hugh became convinced he could develop a stronger alternative.

Terratherma has won many awards for their exceptional services. These include Second place for small renewable project of 2016 for East Anglia, Highly commended for RHI Installer of the Year for East Anglia and their technical Director was awarded Bronze for Energy Efficiency Champion again for East Anglia. All awards were presented by the Energy Efficiency and Retrofit awards.

Building Solutions UK is incredibly pleased to promote the products and services offered by Gripple and detail its journey to success whilst commending the team behind the brand for achieving its well-regarded Commitment to Excellence profile. The cable hanging systems company was founded in 1988 and has since become a renowned name in the industry for its quality manufacture of wire joiner and tensioners. Its establishment is courtesy of wire salesman Hugh Facey, who discovered a gap in the market for such products and decided to set up his own business in response to this.

“As part of this, our aftersales service is designed to keep your world warm when you need it. With our engineers just a phone call away, we can keep your heating system in excellent order to ensure it serves you for years to come.”

Structural Warranty News

SPOTLIGHT:

Refurbishment & Conversion Schemes Building conversions as we know are often difficult to complete, frequently with costs spiralling as unknown defects surface. Good and correct investigation can reduce the unknown, however we often see work proposed with minimal investigation or inappropriate investigations employed, based on a standard approach. Refurbishments and conversions can come with their problems which may result in claims being made. This can include issues of damp, mould growth, water ingress and failing roof coverings, with many issues of damp problems, mould growth, water ingress and failing roof coverings. CIRIA 111 (Structural Renovation of Traditional Buildings) provides guidance on the level of investigation as well as typical construction methods used and issues frequently encountered, it is applicable to most low rise buildings of the 18th, 19th and 20th Centuries. However even with these fairly well understood buildings, issues occur, we often see remedial DPCs injected of inappropriate type for the wall construction, and increasingly at the wrong height (eg above structural floor joists) inadequate investigation of embedded timbers or a reluctance to re-cover a roof that although may initially appear to be in good order has in reality never performed to modern requirements and importantly modern expectation. Unfortunately, Planning conditions and Conservation control can reduce the appropriateness of a building for conversion to residential use, it is not the case that we don’t agree with these controls, its more that unfortunately new home purchasers have expectations that their new home will perform in the same way as a newly built property and often this isn’t the case, from single glazed windows causing condensation to appear during colder months, to ongoing maintenance requirements and increased sensitivity to a changing climate, the pitfalls can be huge. Fact is that most properties built in the last 150 years are robust, unfortunately unsympathetic use, poor maintenance and simple issues such as increasing ground levels can introduce the enemy of most

buildings – moisture, by far and away the greatest defect we see in buildings proposed for conversion is water ingress through failed roofing and gutters/downpipes (usually as a result of poor maintenance) and moisture rising, not through a failed DPC but usually a bridged perfectly good DPC with resultant rot to timbers both visible and invisible behind wall coverings and other finishes. More recent buildings aren’t devoid of these issues, more that they contain less timber, and were built to more modern standards, however these present other problems such as concrete defects, cladding issues, and in some cases structural issues. There is a lot of guidance out there to assist in the process of conversion, however the aforementioned CIRIA document is an excellent start, but reference to British Standards and even some historic association documents can provide an excellent source of further guidance, and don’t forget we can help you too! Involve us early and we can recommend the type and level of investigation, so that when you start hopefully there won’t be so many unknowns, and where practical we will agree the retention of elements or make clear where replacement is the only realistic approach.

Roofing News

At the heart of roofing When it comes to choosing a roofing contractor, it is obvious that this is something that shouldn’t be done hurriedly. You need a reliable and competent organisation who can work professionally and dependably, therefore it is highly important that you approach the subject with care. Step forward the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC): the trade association who have the capability to provide absolute confidence to both clients and members in the roofing industry, ensuring that the services received are second to none. Established in 1892, the NFRC is now considered to be the leading roofing trade association in the UK, representing over 70% of the industry by value. The wellestablished body currently comprises over 1,000 trade contractors and 173 supplier members (including manufacturers, suppliers and service providers).

Tapco Roofing Products For over 20 years, the Tapco Group has been providing premium-quality, next-generation synthetic roofing materials. Its TapcoSlate product not only mimics the natural detail of slate for an authentic appearance, it also has unmatched quality and robustness. TapcoSlate – slate… but not as you know it! Roofing slate has for centuries been desired for its durability and aesthetic appeal, but it does have drawbacks with its weight, pitch restrictions and brittleness. BBA-certified TapcoSlate

combines all the positive features of this beautiful, natural product, but adds practicality and enhanced performance to create a beautiful roof that won’t break or delaminate, survives substantial impact, is very light in weight and can be used on lower pitches than those achievable with natural slate. It is the ideal product for conservatories, new-build homes, particularly the selfbuild sector, roof refurbishment and is guaranteed for 40 years. TapcoSlate has recently achieved BBA accreditation for usage on roof pitches as low as 14.5 degrees on felt and batten installations. Previously, fullyboarded applications were required to achieve pitches below 22.5 degrees. This increases the potential to use slate on hitherto unconsidered projects. The Sign of Building Quality The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) holds the prime position as the UK’s largest trade association in the building industry. The not-for-profit organisation was established in 1941 and has since gone from strength to strength, operating both nationally and regionally courtesy of its strategically placed offices in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The FMB works explicitly to maintain, promote and protect the interests of both small and medium-sized building companies, representing their practices and opinions in order to increase awareness of the work that they do. The independent firm specialises in the

provision of reliable support and advice to help clients to meet their expected building and construction goals. The group, which acts as a mark of building quality and excellence, helps organisations to deliver superior services with great value, subsequently strengthening their brand identity and position in the marketplace. Members are readily accepted if they fulfil the set criteria and pass all of the essential checks, because only the most scrupulous and dedicated builders and specialists are selected to become part of the FMB. Speed up setting time Yara NitCal® passes corrosion inhibition ASTM certification Yara supply NitCal®, a calcium nitrate based multi-function admixture, to the worldwide concrete using industry. The product is a setting accelerator as per BS-EN934-2 and is used extensively for cold weather concreting to prevent delays due to slow set. In cold weather, Yara NitCal® ensures your specified mix will set in your timescale whereas use of heated mixes or heated sites is often a costly and ‘hit and miss’ solution. An added benefit is that the concrete takes longer to cool down due to the exothermic nature of the accelerated reaction thus reducing the loss of workability, the risk of freeze damage, and a sub-standard set. Corrosion inhibition In 2015, Yara submitted Yara NitCal® to ENCO for certification as per ASTM C1582/ C1582M-11 ‘The Standard Specification for Admixtures to Inhibit Chloride-Induced Corrosion of Reinforcing Steel in Concrete’ following on from previous research by

Litre Meter – The Flowmeter Experts company’s extensive catalogue of standard products.

Litre Meter Limited was founded 40 years ago as a manufacturer of industrial flowmeters. Today, the company still manufactures flowmeters, but with a slight shift in focus – more than 80% of their products are designed specifically for the harsh conditions of the offshore oil and gas industry. This shift was largely due to the company’s ability to engineer new products, as many offshore oil and gas rigs require custom-built flow measurement solutions for chemical injection – however, the ability to engineer new products has sometimes been a setback for Litre Meter, as the majority of orders would often require custom engineering, despite the

High Pressure Pumps Portable data logger series Slimline Holder design Omega’s latest portable temperature and humidity data loggers offer accurate and repeatable logging for temperature (OM-91) and for temperature/ relative humidity (OM-92).

With any capital investment, it is important to ensure that new equipment provides continued, reliable operation on a day-to-day basis as well as achieving the shortest return on investment (ROI). For those applications operating high pressure pumps, condition monitoring of the pump and energy efficient operation are key aspects to any design. RMI Pressure Systems has been a leading manufacturer of high pressure, high flow, pumping systems for many years, delivering bespoke solutions to the coal, steel and oil & gas industries. A major part of its reputation is based on the reliability of its products, a key feature in applications where lost production costs can rise to stratospheric proportions.

Health monitoring systems are designed around the client’s specific requirements and can be integrated into the main pump control system, if required.

A vital aspect to a pump’s performance is the lubrication system and so maintaining a careful watch on this provides the necessary insight to the overall pump condition.

The SurCapt™ Microbial Surface Detection Kit is an all-inclusive, ready-to-use kit which simplifies and quickens the process of environmental surface testing for biological contamination. The kit uses GreenLight® Technology for the rapid detection of microbial activity on cleanroom surfaces and the design reduces the likelihood of sample cross-contamination and mishandling of samples by the operator. The SurCapt Kit is intended to be used with the GreenLight automated reader. The reader’s internal LED sends light to the polymer sensor located in the kit vial and the optical system detects the decay of the fluorescence signal emission referring to the oxygen depletion over time due to the microorganism’s respiration. The system is flexible and allows either enumeration produced from

an internal calibration, or a pass/ fail test based on presence/absence of oxygen depletion over time. The reader software allows continuous measurements of oxygen depletion within the reader or endpoint measurements from externally incubated samples. An in-house design team without the overheads A typical customer request is, “Can you manufacture this system for us?” The answer is usually a qualified Yes. Qualified because what we are being asked to manufacture is an engineer’s ‘proof of concept’ and leaves much to be desired in terms of manufacturability, reliability and on-going availability. At BVM, everything starts with a requirement specification. This can be a written specification, a working prototype – even a ‘wish list.’ Whatever the format, our engineers will create a design specification for agreement with the customer. Our customers may be experts in their own field but at BVM, we pride ourselves in knowing what is required and how to solve issues such as power requirements, thermal management, manufacturability and test, component selection and availability, production life expectancy and obsolescence planning. Issues often overlooked by the applications company seeking to launch a new product.

Expansion Joints News

A very different approach to the supply of Bellows Expansion Joints Since the formation of the company in 2011, BOSS Bellows continues to exceed the expectations of even our most demanding customers when it comes to customer service and reduced lead times of industrial stainless steel bellows and expansion joints. Not only do we carry a vast stock of bellows membranes to cover a multitude of applications, all our joints are manufactured in-house – thus we retain complete ownership of the manufacturing process and lead time availability. In addition, our increasingly popular ‘Rapid-Response’ breakdown service is a specialist division of the business designed to have the manufacturing flexibility to provide either new or refurbished bellows expansion joints on a same or next working day basis. This division is all about the ‘cando’ approach, staffed by people who take the challenge to resolve your breakdown situation in the shortest possible timescale very personally.

So whether you are looking to outsource your supply chain requirements, require some overspill storage, have pallet spaces that you want to fill or services that you want to advertise, make Whichwarehouse your first port of call. Gerry M says, “Thanks to Whichwarehouse for helping us find extra warehouse space. We had options put to us immediately. We were up and running within a week. Now we can relax knowing our needs are met.” Mini Clipper says, “They introduced us to a significant, valuable customer within a very short time of joining up and the leads continue to be high quality.”

HAVS – protect your employees, protect your business Protect your employees and business with the complete tool management package

Master Tool Services offers Hand Arm Vibration (HAV) solutions, including testing and trigger timers. A recent new addition to the range is an effective, affordable vibration management system: the Curo. In the UK alone, there are over 300,000 people reported as suffering from HAVS and 2 million at risk. As a result, litigation claims are on the increase. Curotec’s system has been developed to accurately collect and monitor vibration exposure levels, actively reducing the risk of contracting HAVS and identifying areas needing preventative action. With no known cure for the disease, the Curo can become a vital part of employees PPE, helping to prevent and protect them from HAVS. The vibration levels conducted from tools such as sanders, grinders and chipping hammers used daily by various manufacturing industries are amongst

the most dangerous if not controlled. Operators can be issued with the Curo – which stores 30 days’ worth of vibration exposure data – until the time when all data can be swiftly downloaded onto a mains supply (laptop, computer), adding flexibility to your data collection. Master’s technical team can provide support, training and installation of the Curo free of charge. For further information, please visit: www.master-toolservices.co.uk

Feature Packed Economical Labelling from Weber Weber’s Model 4300 Pro-Apply in-line systems combine high-quality label printing and application for economical, fast and accurate pressure-sensitive labelling. The Model 4300 Pro-Apply systems are designed, engineered and assembled by Weber, within their own manufacturing facility. Each unit features a fully integrated on-demand, thermal/thermaltransfer print engine from Datamax, SATO or Zebra to produce 203, 300 or 600dpi text, bar codes and graphic images at speeds up to 400 millimetres per second. Labels up to 150mm wide and 150mm in length are printed in a cost-efficient, next-out mode, and then instantly applied to cartons or products on the production or packaging line. Using the tamp-blow method of application, a printed pressure-sensitive label is automatically peeled from its liner and retained by vacuum on the applicator’s tamp pad. The pad is then extended (adjustable between 50mm to 300mm stroke) and blown onto the package from a distance of approximately 6.0mm.

Weber’s Model 4300 Systems Provide Economical, Fast and Accurate Pressure Sensitive Labelling

Several standard tamp-pad sizes are available, and provided in quick-change configurations. In just a few seconds, the tamp-pad can be removed and another fastened in its place to handle a different size label. Standard features include durable anodized aluminium construction, an integrated user interface with LCD display, numerous inputs and outputs to facilitate the use of a product sensor or other optional accessories, and stepper motor-driven rewind. In addition, system components are readily accessible for ease of servicing and all units feature zero-downtime connectivity to ensure uninterrupted production.

Special Features • Applies labels up to 6” wide x 6” long

Options available for the Model 4300 Pro-Apply Systems include a variable stroke sensor, a labelon-pad sensor and an adjustable stand that enables the system to be oriented for top, bottom or side application.

• Prints text, bar codes and graphic images at 203, 300 or 600dpi

The Model 4300 Pro-Apply operates with Weber’s exclusive Legitronic® software, which simplifies label formatting, editing and printing.

• Non-contact, tamp-blow application

Weber also manufactures a wide variety of stock and custom pressure-sensitive labels for variable imprinting, together with application-specific ribbons for thermal-transfer operation.

• Accurate labeling to within ±0.03”
