market with the highest possible efficiency and capacity. They are incredibly safe and eliminate the risk of a chemical reaction, particularly when using hydrogen. Alexandre Berteletti, Sales “Because & Business Development we have Manager at Leman strict internal Instruments quality control, our generators are on hand to make sure the components run properly. This is of great importance, especially since we insist that our generators are exactly what our customers required corresponding to the specifications mentioned in our data-sheet, maintaining guaranteed levels of purity. After listening to individual requests we can develop custom solutions together with the client, tailored for specific applications (and at competitive prices).”

The company, which is headquartered in Archamps Technopole, France, often releases new products to the market. Its exclusive GC STATION 60L & GC STATION 60LC, a combined technology gas generator, is one of the company’s latest releases. The single unit integrates an inboard compressor and, as a fully automated solution combining high purity hydrogen, zero air and nitrogen generators plus on board compressor on a computer tower size, is a concept unlike any other. It is also important to mention the remote control, which is a fundamental asset from Leman Instruments. Incredibly, it is possible to control all of its generators via the internet (with safety/security password or on private servers), which will boost the efficiency and productivity of all types of remote systems significantly. “The past 12 months have been fantastic for the company and we have created a huge evolution for gas generators,” Alexander concluded. “Our aim going forwards is to keep on track with our company direction, introducing new products and increasing our presence in different markets. We operate with maximum care; we ensure to offer single customers direct support and are always happy to answer any questions they may have.”

“One of the major benefits of the generators is their maximised safety and conservationism,” detailed Alexander Berteletti, Sales & Business Development Manager at Leman Instruments. “They are the most compact of their kind, and they have the smallest footprint on the

Product Innovation Award

The UK’s original Rainwater Harvesting Company Solutions UK is pleased to announce that Rainharvesting Systems Ltd has been selected for achieving its highly prestigious Product Innovation award.

Rainharvesting Systems team share over 60 years of combined experience and are proud founder members of the UK Rainwater Management Association.

Based near Stroud in Gloucestershire, the organisation holds the coveted position as the longest established British company supplying products and services specifically for rainwater harvesting. Predominantly operating in the building services industry sector, Rainharvesting Systems has been successfully shaping this niche market ever since its establishment in September 2001.

Derek Hunt, Managing Director at Rainharvesting Systems, was keen to outline the concentrated company philosophy, “We have a keen environmental ethos; this being the origins of both our own company and also the industry we work in (the technology began and was developed in Germany in response to particular environmental problems),” he commented. “We therefore have a strong environmental

policy and seek to source products and consumables as ecologically as possible. We have one of the widest ranges of products available in the industry and have an excellent reputation for finding tailored solutions, as opposed to just 'off the shelf' packages. We also offer commissioning and our RainCare service provides maintenance and repair.” As well as providing specialist equipment – in the form of both separate components and complete systems – Rainharvesting Systems is the exclusive UK agent for leading German manufacturer Wisy AG. The acting representative for this globally renowned brand has subsequently been supplying its premium quality products (designed for use in both domestic and commercial applications) for more than two decades whilst regularly expanding its range with innovations from other major providers.

Cutaway view of the Vortex Rainwater Filter used in many of our systems

A recent development from Wisy AG is the introduction of their innovative Zeta 02 automatic pump controller. This has been developed to be able to comply with the forthcoming EU Ecodesign Directive which will require standby power use of such appliances not to exceed 0.5W. Currently similar devices on the market typically consume between 8 and 15 watts of energy, and that’s 24 hrs per day, 7 days per week. The Zeta 02 incorporates innovative electronic circuitry that significantly reduces the amount of energy used, so consumes a remarkably low 0.2W in standby mode. As these devices spend most of the time in standby, this makes the unit 97% more efficient than its predecessor and most of the competition. The Zeta unit can be used to control most single phase pumps up to 2.2kW. As a comparison, a typical 10w model would use 87.6kW per year in standby power, whereas the Zeta unit will consume only 1.75kW, with a corresponding reduction in CO2 emissions. The product was highly commended in the 2015 SWiG Awards (Sustainable Water Industries Group).

filters and specialist system control panels for high-spec commercial applications. The filters have a very low profile, making them suitable for situations where other filters wouldn’t be able to cut it, whilst the control units are very sophisticated and can be adapted to suit any application with LCD or touch-screen interface (and optional web connection for remote monitoring). “This year will see the launch of two new products from our German suppliers Wisy AG. In the meantime we will continue to develop new specialist products of our own, and to continue with promoting our RainSava® and RainTech® brands. Our immediate focus is to seek out a new business development manager, as we currently have a vacancy.” If you have any questions, or if you would like to find out more, then please don’t hesitate in getting in touch with Rainharvesting Systems today. Rainharvesting Systems’ committed approach has attracted an extensive customer base comprising many big name brands, such as the Environment Agency, the National Trust, RSPB, BAE Systems, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and HM Government. At the domestic end of the market, its clients include house owners and developers, whilst its commercial target market typically consists of specifiers, building services consultants and local authorities. When asked about the company’s latest movements and future plans, Derek said, “We have recently begun to market a new range (HYDRAPRO®) of

In addition, flow temperatures can be reduced by 40 to 50 Celsius (compared to the temperatures required for radiator systems). Francis Flowers’ Solida System is designed to provide a whole house heating solution by combining existing technologies and the Gypsol based flowing anhydrite floor screeds. The process involves incorporating Gypsol screed in separating floors in order to maximise desirability, asset value and useable space. “This system enables the screed to go on the first floor on timber floors, (subject to structural design) ensuring homeowners encapsulate underfloor heating effectively,” Paul explained. “As a sustainable alternative to radiators, the Solida System improves a house

builder’s green credentials massively as it reduces energy use. “More and more companies are now realising the benefits of this system and it is becoming increasingly popular with screed suppliers. We have recently taken on 3 new customers providing screed using our binder.” Newly introduced the ever growing range is the TS15 and TS20 ultrathin screeds that are designed to be either bonded or unbonded to 15mm and 20mm. How secure is your RFID Access Control? Solutions UK is extremely proud to present RFID Secure with its highly prestigious and richly deserved Commitment to Excellence profile.

Badgeholder. The simple but effective device prevents the access card from being read and sends out a false code to the hacker.

Thousands of businesses throughout the UK are using RFID access control cards as the way of entry to their building. What many of these are unaware of, however, is that these keys are not as secure as they think. A growing problem in today’s world is that even encrypted access control cards are now being cloned in just a matter of seconds, granting thieves complete access into your building without any questions being asked.

A world first in security, the BloxProx Badgeholders were launched at IFSEC in June 2015 and had never been seen before in the UK. The Patented Secure product was first invented in the USA where over a million have already been sold to the FBI, Government, Security Services and industry.

Using an easily accessible device, thieve are able to scan and retrieve information from the cards Radio Frequency Identification chip (known as RFID.) This chip works by responding automatically to a signal sent out by the door reader once it is within range. The chip then gives out the encrypted access code, the door reader recognises the code and unlocks. Passes carried by staff, visitors or contractors are at extreme risk as they will give up their code to any reader operating on that radio frequency. While your buildings electronic ‘keys’ are being carried, often visibly, by the holder, a third party with a concealed scanner can scan targeted RFID enabled access cards and write that scan to a blank card. In order to tackle this growing issue, RFID Secure, the market leader in the provision of RFID Blocking Solutions, is presenting a secure solution to prevent this threat – the BloxProx

of electronic invasion of your security. Our latest addition is a Secure shielded pouch for passive RFID car keys used in the Keyless car entry system.” “Our mission is to provide peace of mind to users of RFID systems. It is extremely important that people understand these risks and take action to protect themselves and their information. For just a small cost you can be secure in the fact that you, your business and

“A company’s security is only as strong as its weakest link,” commented Robin Rager, Director at RFID Secure. “Businesses spend thousands on security measures but 90% of them do not realise that the weak link is their RFID access control card. Our Secure BloxProx Badgeholders can eliminate this risk and ensure illegal cloning is not possible. They ‘future proof ’ your security measures.” This ground breaking device protects 125 KHz access cards, which has never been possible before, as well as protecting ISO standard 13.56MHz Access and ID cards. The patented ‘squeeze to read’ technology is effectively an on-off switch, giving the user complete control over when the chip can be read.

The innovative BloxProx has been endorsed and accredited by the Home Office under their Secured By Design program. It was also a Finalist for the New and Best Innovative Product of the year at the Security and Fire Excellence Awards which is a fantastic achievement for the company. Not only does this risk of electronic pickpocketing threaten contactless access keys, the same chip is used in your contactless bank cards and passports, making them extremely vulnerable. RFID Secure also supplies a range of wallets, purses and passport covers that prevent them from also being targeted. “Recent studies have shown that the number of people falling victim to identity theft in the UK has risen by almost a third,” explained Robin. “As the UK and European distributor for the ID Stronghold range of RFID blocking products, we stock a range of RFID solutions that give invaluable protection against the very real risk

An Accountable Security Company The highly regarded supplier of security measures offers an extensive selection of services that are recognised on a national level for their excellency and cost-effectiveness. Key Holding & Alarmed Response, CCTV Monitoring, Mobile Patrols and Security Guarding are all examples of activities carried out by the reputable solution provider. Acclaimed Security can effectively fill its clients with confidence in the belief that their properties, assets and employees will remain well protected at all points with the application of its award-winning innovations. Installing only the latest security systems available will help provide the peace of mind required for organisations to continue about their daily business in a productive manner with the necessary ease and assurance. One of the company’s most popular

innovations is its ground-breaking GuardSafe system; fitted boxes slotted into the corners of a building, effectively monitoring four designated patrol routes. This particular invention acts to instantly alert organisations when a guard is onsite, providing customers with the knowledge that their building is being safely supervised around the clock. “GuardSafe is a unique patrol logging system

which works in real time,” explained Acclaimed Security’s Managing Director Roy Unwin. “This means companies can have results within seconds – if there are any issues, they are flagged up immediately and dealt with accordingly. This is a vast difference to other businesses, whose results are typically provided after a much greater timespan – some can take as long as a month! We are proud to say that GuardSafe is a system exclusive to us; no-one else in the world has it.” Check-Call is another notable success; a service monitoring the performance of a guard on-duty by ringing them hourly and checking they aren’t asleep on the job. Tracking the officer’s exact movements via routine calls, mobile responses and periodic checks ensures that the staff are performing as they should be, and once the technology has pinpointed a problem the Acclaimed Security supervisors will be on hand to assess the situation and act appropriately. The business, which is based in Leeds, was established in 2002 and has since secured status as one

of the few Approved Contractors Scheme (ACS) approved businesses in the industry. Winning over 15 awards in the past couple of years alone and its extensive customer base (which comprises numerous industrial and commercial outlets and well-regarded bluechip companies including Leeds Teaching Hospitals, Leeds City Council, Freight Liner, Tarmac, Seabrook Crisps, Vion Foods, Brake Brothers and Liberty Living) is solid proof of the company’s incredible success in the security sector. Roy was particularly pleased to mention that Acclaimed Security had recently secured a huge contract with AS K9 Ltd, an organisation working in accordance with canines to combat terrorism, drug control and general wrongdoing. Whilst forklift operator training is designed to teach the safest and best practice, which should minimise the risk of accidents, it cannot completely eliminate the risk of damages caused by forklifts. Help your home or business with Bill Pitt Joinery, a company based in Kirriemuir, Scotland that specialises in the provision of cost-effective bespoke joinery. Having been established in January 1998, the business boasts decades of experience in the manufacture of customised products built to specific customer specifications and is renowned for its exceptional level of workmanship, dependability and professionalism. Founder and Director Bill Pitt told us more about the company history and his motivations for setting up the business: “Having worked at a joiner’s workshop

and as a timber sales representative previously I had enough experience to set up my own enterprise,” he detailed. “As a rep I had the chance to talk to customers who realised my capabilities and so I took the informed decision to start my own business, which is something I had always wanted to do. “Upon acknowledging this potential, I conducted some market research and

discovered a need for bespoke joinery services. It started out as myself and an apprentice and has since developed to become a workforce of 8 employees – 6 working full time and 2 on a part time basis and we have moved workshops 3 times, having comfortably settled into our latest facility (which we have occupied for 11 years now).” Offering a standard of material that

With the increase in terror attacks in recent years, many authorities have taken the decision to remove litter bins from public areas amid fears that bins would be used to plant explosives and endanger public safety. Blast resistant litter bins are a response to the threat of explosive devices hidden in trash cans located in high traffic public areas such as airports, shopping centres and railway stations. A standard litter bin will fragment under blast loading spreading the lethal blast effects further. Removing litter bins completely only adds to public frustration and a greater cleaning burden. Replacing them with clear plastic bag bins may in some cases offer early identification of an explosive device, but does nothing to keep the public protected should the device detonate. We have developed bomb proof litter bin solutions to meet the terrorist threat head-on as well as providing practical litter collection functionality. Fully functioning litter bins which provide the additional feature of the safe containment of explosive charges. Used in counter terror applications in public spaces. “We are unusual in the respect that we are based in a town with 6 other joinery manufacturers. What makes us stand out the most is our flexibility: we don’t get fazed by complexity and we enjoy a challenge, so we rarely turn down work. Although we specialise mainly in doors, windows and staircases, we readily accept commissions for bespoke pieces of furniture and have been known to manufacture and install fire surroundings/mantelpieces and dining room tables and the like. We even install big sliding doors and spiral staircases (which many manufacturers aren’t willing to do) and work with an architectural blacksmith in Dundee to create specialist oak and hardwood handrails.” Bill Pitt Joinery proudly offers free consultations, quotes and deliveries for its customers, so whether you require a stunning new staircase or a tailored piece of furniture, you need to make Bill Pitt Manufacturing Joinery Ltd your main port of call. Products & Services Innovation Award for 2016

Specialists in Low-Maintenance Garden Design Building Solutions UK is extremely proud to present its Products & Services Innovation Award for 2016 to Pro-mats. Dedicated to delivering complete customer satisfaction with a range of quality and innovative services, Pro-mats specialise in artificial grass installation and rubber play surfacing. Renowned for their outstanding services in this area, the company undertake projects both large and small catering to each client’s individual requirements. The company was set up in September 2009 by Luke Chapman. It began life as a relatively niche business focusing mainly on specialist rubber surfaces. Since then, it has rapidly developed to offer a wide range of landscapingrelated services in order to make the most of its personnel’s varied skillsets. “The business started off in playground safety surface installation,” commented Luke. “After around three years, due to market conditions, we introduced artificial grass to our service offering which led to requests coming in from the residential market. As we completed install after install, our reputation for artificial grass in domestic gardens grew, and during this time we were asked if we could install paths, walls, fencing, decking etc. along with the artificial grass. This organically led to us taking on full garden design projects – and after our first one was finalised, we’ve never looked back!” Pro-mats are now predominantly renowned for providing services in relation to artificial grass, but their secondary role

is that of expert landscaping and landscape design. In order to remain true to their origins and to maintain a reputation for project diversity, the team also continue to offer their playground safety surface installation capabilities. Their key specialisms centre on patios, decking, fencing, driveways, custom made garden benches/seats, wetpour rubber surfacing, bonded rubber mulch and resin bound gravel.

against. As a twist, Pro-mats covered this in artificial grass as well and created the outline of a goal and penalty spot using white coloured artificial grass. The result was quite striking and also helped deaden the sound of the ball hitting it, which they were sure the neighbours are pleased about! After seeing the garden made for the twins and their brother, another family member asked if Pro-mats could take a look at her overrun garden as well. This was carried out during 2015, completely transforming the garden which included a specialist, wide access rear driveway for when the twins visit, a custom bench and a single armed basket swing, which all of the grandchildren can enjoy.

From its base in Great Barr, Birmingham, Pro-mats offer exceptional services to commercial clients in and around Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, Lichfield, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Solihull, Coventry, Redditch and Bromsgrove. Although the company’s focus is on the midlands, they are also willing to travel around the UK.

These remarkable case studies are examples of how the group have made a substantial impact with their customisable services. Luke was keen to explain further: “This specialist service is something we're currently developing as we find it extremely rewarding working with families who have very specific requirements,” he said. “The way our company has developed, we have the skill, knowledge and understanding to bring together all of the elements required for projects like these, be it on a very small scale or much larger commercial projects. Our solutions are low-maintenance and stress-free: we can take unusable locations and turn them into amazing, comfortable and safe spaces for our everyone to enjoy.”

One of Pro-mats recent commissions was a recently devised small-scale scheme that made an incredible difference to one family in the Midlands. After being approached by a customer in Birmingham, the group of experts were more than happy to fulfil her specific gardening request and so took the job with great enthusiasm and determination. After consulting with the client, her landscaping demands became apparent: having just secured long-term foster care of a young autistic child with a keen appreciation of textures and the outdoors – exploring winding pathways and feeling different textures – she wanted to transform her garden into a safe haven where her little girl could play freely and contentedly. Because she was currently undergoing cancer treatment, the customer had become progressively more frustrated that she couldn’t always take her daughter to the local park and so needed a solution that was much more convenient for them both. The Pro-mats team set to work and managed to successfully create a visually pleasing garden space that met all of the set criteria. The effect of the different textures was accomplished by applying four separate types of artificial grass and a bonded rubber pathway, which circled in various directions in order to satisfy the client’s brief in its totality. Further additions included artificial grass footsteps in the rubber pathway (to provide yet another texture transition) and the installation of a new gate to ensure the area was safely secured. The result was a garden that had been completely revamped

– the client was so thrilled with the transformation that she broke down in tears! She commented that the work Pro-mats had done was ‘so meaningful’ and ‘life-changing,’ and was even more delighted to find that the area was low maintenance and could also be used all year round. Over 60 Years of Experience The Totally DIY and Totally Tool Show 2016 was a great success, particularly for the outdoor cooking expert Campingaz. The trusted outdoor company was established in 1949 when a young entrepreneur developed a revolutionary refillable cylinder after discovering a gap in the market for such a compact and economic camping product. What followed was the advance of a brand set on liberating outdoor life with its impressive portfolio of groundbreaking innovations suitable for campsites, beaches, hills and gardens. Its extensive range – which includes barbecues, stoves, lanterns, coolers, airbeds, cartridges, cylinders, chemical toilets and garden & DIY

products – has been designed to make camping holidays and outdoor excursions as convenient and stress-free as possible for both keen explorers and first-time travellers. Over 60 years of knowledge and experience in the outdoor arena has enabled the company to develop a strong line of safe and durable solutions widely trusted by generations of campers. Considered a well acknowledged leader in

DIY in order to promote our GRAFT range, which we recently rebranded,” he explained. “Research from the previous year told us that our packaging could be improved so we took this on board and used the show to test the results. 9/10 visitors agreed that our new branding was strong and we received excellent feedback for the products whilst acquiring some great quality leads.

Family Tents, getting back to nature

“Our team also used the exhibition as a platform to introduce two specific products: GRAF Multi-Sealant and Adhesive and GRAF Bathroom and Kitchen Sealant. These premium quality innovations are based on our own chemistry called IPT® (Inert Polymer Technology) – with global patents they are unique to us and are considered the greenest sealants in the market. They also come with a 25 year mould free guarantee; this is something even the biggest manufacturers can’t state with confidence! Overall, the show was well attended and we were really happy with the launch.”

We offer a choice from budget to premium luxury security with bespoke safes custom designed with every detail in mind. All our fire resistant safes carry a two year manufacturer’s warranty as well as a free life-time 'after-the-fire' replacement warranty, providing that added peace of mind should the worst happen. Verderflex Dura 5 and Dura 7 HPLV: High Pressure Low Volume Dosing Pumps The Verderflex Dura is the first real advance in hose pump technology since the high pressure hose. The Verderflex Dura 5 and Dura 7 combine a close coupled pump’s compactness with traditional long coupled pump benefits in superior High Pressure Low Volume dosing pumps. Unlike traditional high shear pumps that reduce flocculent particle sizes

and result in both increased chemical use and higher operating costs, the Verderflex Dura 5 and Dura 7’s bring gentle pumping to sub-litre per hour flow rates. Off-Gassing liquids, such as Hypo, often

cause traditional pumps to vapour lock, however, the Verderflex Dura 5 and Dura 7 readily pumps these liquids with ease. With no valves or stators to wear, Verderflex Dura 5 and Dura 7 pump lime and similar highly abrasive chemicals at a pressure of 5 to 8 bar with minimal downtime. Other features of Verderflex Dura 5 and Dura 7 include:

Care free dry running capabilities No clogging maintenance costs Long life heavy-duty hoses True dry priming eliminating prewetting and priming Superior secondary containment and viscous performance.

Our panels have no visible fixings front or back, we also offer a unique Louver profile that maximises

sunlight while still providing privacy. The fencing has no visible posts giving a continuous horizontal line of cedar colour. We only use the very best Western Red Cedar from a sustainable source with PEFC certification. Cedar really has unique properties in addition to being beautiful to look at, it has natural preservative oils within that protect it from the elements. If left to naturally age outdoors our fencing turns a handsome silver grey highlighted by darker streaks. We are often asked to treat the panels so the warm cedar colour is protected and have our own on site spray booth on site to get this done quickly and with minimal fuss. The Institute of Acoustics The UK's professional body for those working in acoustics, noise and vibration, the Institute of Acoustics (IOA), is a nominated body of the Engineering Council that was established in 1974. The widely recognised professional association covers all aspects of acoustics: aerodynamics, architectural acoustics, building acoustics, electroacoustics, engineering dynamics, noise & vibration, hearing, speech, underwater acoustics and a range of environmental issues. The IOA boasts a wide-reaching membership base comprising 3,000 businesses. This impressive figure ensures there is a strong cross-fertilisation of ideas and initiatives, as the members come from a rich diversity of backgrounds (with engineers, scientists, educators, lawyers, occupational hygienists, architects and environmental health officers within the mix).

One of the IOA’s key features is its Continuous Professional Development support scheme, which offers guidance to its members and keeps them fully informed with rapidly changing technological and regulatory matters. The organisation itself relies on the voluntary contributions of its standing committees as well as council members and is ran in close connection with professional bodies in related fields such as CIEH, REHIS and IOSH and the Association of Noise Consultants. The past few years have seen a large increase in requirement for fully permeable systems that will allow trafficking by pedestrians to HGV Lorries. The pressure that came from the escalation of periods of excessive rainfall plus many years of laying impermeable tarmac and concrete and the resulting floods, prompted government intervention and the SuDS (Sustainable urban Drainage Systems), regulations were introduced. People want to get away from bland looking concrete and tarmac that adds to the problem of water runoff. As the momentum has gathered pace over these past years, the demands

Structural Insulated Panel Manufacturer of the Year

Building fabric of the future Building Solutions UK is extremely proud to present SuperSIPs as its selected Structural Insulated Panel Manufacturer of the Year. An unrivalled knowledge and experience of the industry is what has set SuperSIPs aside from its competitors. The dynamic structural insulated panel manufacturer produce thermally efficient buildings in compliance with the new building regulations, through their three main services – Panel Only, Drawing Service and providing bespoke Complete Kits for Garden Offices/Studios, Houses and Commercial Buildings. 2015 was an extremely successful year for SuperSIPS. Exceeding their forecast for the year, the company increased its production and sales by 250%. “The demand for thermally efficient housing has resulted in a major increase for our company,” commented Owner Leslie Crossley. “We have introduced 5 new trucks and are currently working on a new production plant which will be operating 24/7. It is an honour to have received this prestigious company of the year award and we feel it is a testament to our hard work and dedication to providing an outstanding service.”

From the initial enquiry to completion, SuperSIPs provide everything you need to produce a thermally efficient building including the design, structural engineering, production, preparation, and delivery using all their own staff, equipment and transport. They can also help find On-Site Erection Crews or assist your chosen Builder, who may be new to SIPs. With over 50 years of experience in the Building Industry and almost 20 years’ experience in SIPs and associated industries, owners Leslie Crossley and Peter Clamp set up the company in 2011. It has since developed into a well-established company renowned for their high quality products and outstanding customer service. “At SuperSIPs, we strive to provide the best,” explained Leslie. “With SIPs being suitable for such a wide variety of buildings, no job is too small or too large. We can help with the integration or combination of many complimentary products from Ground Source Heat Pumps to Under Floor Heating, from Mechanical Ventilation & Heat Recovery, to Solar Hot Water. SIPs provide the ideal Building Fabric for the incorporation of many energy and money saving products.” The SIPS (Structural Insulated Panels) are produced using a facing of OSB (oriented stranded board) with a filling of PUR (polyurethane) insulation. These panels provide a labour and material-saving alternative to traditional timber frame or masonry construction. The insulation used in these panels is continuous and is not bridged by timber studs. This type of panel has been in use for over 60 years and they offer an energy efficient building system that substantially reduces on-site labour times and cost. There is a wide range of panels to choose from, with thickness varying from 100mm to 250mm in 25mm increments, and U Values from 0.27w/m2k down to 0.10w/ m2k. Panels are produced to the client’s length thus saving on wastage and are made using 11mm OSB sheet, unlike competitors using 15mm, which means the thermal efficiency of these panels is greater due to more foam in all panels. SuperSIPs has recently completed extensive trails on a

new Fire Proof SIPS with British Gypsum and, using their Glassrock Rigidur H, managed to achieve 59 minutes in a 30 minute Fire Test at a UKAS Test Centres. In addition to their advanced product range, SuperSIPs offer a full design and engineering service and can custom build panels if required. RTA (ready to assemble) panels can be provided by pre-cutting rough openings, edges, angles, and other complex shapes which are then delivered to your site ready for installation. The company can also advise you and/or your builder how to proceed with the construction. With SuperSIPs you can plan to meet, or exceed, current Building regulations and the amendments planned for 2016. “Our products can be used to build just about anything,” concluded Leslie. “Our SIPs offer high levels of Thermal Performance, Air-Tightness and low levels of Waste; as well

as speedy on-site erection and reduced construction costs. “In terms of the future, we have recently opened a new factory at Waldringfield in order to cater to the growing demand for our products and are currently seeking a new location and are looking at an 11 acres site. “As well as this, we are in negotiations with European partners to expand into Holland and Belgium. At SuperSIPs, our aim is to provide customers with the highest quality products at competitive prices, along with an exceptional level of customer service.” Contact T +44 (0)1473 736023 www.supersips.uk.com

HAVS: protect your employees, protect your business An exciting new addition to the Master Tool Services range is an effective, affordable vibration management system that targets the niche market of personal protective equipment (PPE) for Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS). Master is a major UK distributor for Curotec Team Ltd, the manufacturer of this innovative system. In the UK alone there are over 300,000 people reported as suffering from HAVS and 2 million at risk. As a result, litigation claims are on the increase. Curotec’s system has been developed to accurately collect and monitor vibration exposure levels, actively reducing the risk of contracting HAVS and identifying areas needing preventative action. With no known cure for the disease, the Curo can become a vital part of employees PPE,

helping to prevent and protect them from HAVS. The HSE regulations have forced the industry to re-evaluate the threat of overexposure to vibration in order to keep its employees safe. As a result, the ‘Curo’ fits well into Master’s comprehensive range of services, complimenting the HAV tool testing offer with an affordable, effective, easy-to-use vibration management system.

The vibration levels conducted from tools such as sanders, grinders and chipping hammers used daily by various manufacturing industries are amongst the most dangerous if not controlled. The Curo is able to quantify the daily exposure of, and therefore the risk to, each member of the workforce, enabling preventative action to be taken for those who are identified as being at risk. Operators can be issued with the Curo – which stores 30 days’ worth of vibration exposure data – until the time when all data can be swiftly downloaded onto a mains supply (laptop, computer), adding flexibility to your data collection. Master’s technical team can provide support, training and installation of the Curo free of charge. For further information, please visit: www.master-toolservices.co.uk.

Product to Pallet Labelling Solutions Modern manufacturing requires an integrated approach across all aspects of the production process, to ensure not just productivity, but the quality and consistency demanded by the consumer. As demands and expectations have increased within the production processes themselves, so too has the need for concise and efficient marking and labelling. Whether a label contains simple instructions, a use by date or traceability information within a bar code, 2D matrix code or an RFID smart label, it is essential that manufacturers have the confidence that each and every label will be produced and applied to a consistent standard, irrespective of where in the production process the operation takes place. With over 75 years’ experience in the development and innovation of labelling solutions, Weber Marking Systems has built up an enviable portfolio covering the three distinct categories of Media, Hardware and Software. This unique combination of products, backed by unrivalled application knowledge, allows Weber to identify, configure and manage all aspects of labelling, from the humble label itself right through to the latest tracking and traceability technology and covering all applications areas from the product to the pallet. This whole process however starts with the media and labels, tags, RFID smart labels and

Labels to Lasers: Weber’s Alpha Series makes it’s mark in Product Identification

Successful Labelling Starts with High Quality Media printer ribbons must be of the highest quality to ensure optimum performance from on-line print and apply systems. The company therefore converts and prints labels within its own manufacturing facilities, including the UK plant in Macmerry just outside Edinburgh. These products range from pressure – sensitive labels – including stock labels for general-purpose labelling – plus custom, variable imprint labels and tags for more challenging applications. A typical packaging line will employ a variety of labelling, print and apply and data capture systems at strategic points. Historically, labelling systems were seen as stand-alone units that would perform their individual tasks without the need for any cohesive integration to the main packaging line.

Typical example of Weber’s Product to Pallet Labelling Solutions As today’s packaging lines have become faster and more complex and with the need to comply with growing regulation on product labelling, it is essential that the individual elements are both compatible and capable of integration to the line and its PLC control system. Meeting these demands requires a comprehensive range of labelling and coding equipment which has been designed for easy integration into virtually any packaging line. The demands for ever greater productivity within modern manufacturing facilities means that production equipment must provide the highest levels of flexibility and reliability. This requirement extends through all stages of production to the labelling and printing systems that generate the product identification, date coding and traceability information which is an essential element of any production process.

The UK’s warehousing, distribution and logistics sectors continue to expand to meet increasing demand from traditional and on-line retail sales. This has in turn placed an even greater emphasis on increasing flexibility and efficiency within the product, package and pallet labelling systems that are an essential part of the logistics process. Weber’s latest range of systems have been designed to print, apply and verify with the speed, flexibility and reliability needed to keep pace with the ever increasing requirements of these sectors. There is little doubt that the humble label is a crucial element in the manufacturing and logistics chain. Whilst we the consumer, take little notice of this small and unassuming piece of paper, without it being properly applied and the correct information being printed to it, our eagerly awaited package or parcel would probably never arrive. With over 80 years of experience in labels and labelling Weber has become recognised as a market leader and the companies latest systems, targeted at pallet and package labelling serve to reinforce this reputation. The company’s new LA4050P pallet labeller, with its modular construction, is ideally suited to continuous pallet labelling in a high volume environment. The system is designed to apply labels to two adjacent sides of a pallet whilst the pallet is on the move. Depending on application, throughput of up to 7 pallets per minute

Weber’s LA4050 range is designed to meet the demands of high volume pallet labelling and cater for height variation if required can be achieved. Just prior to the label being dispensed, any variable data or barcodes are clearly and legibly printed to the label. An optional integrated scanning system allows a final check on the legibility of the label, as it is being printed and prior to application. An automatic door is also incorporated as a safeguard. For applications where greater flexibility is required, Weber’s LA4050 HVE version provides the capability to deal with varying heights. This is achieved using an AC motor drive to raise or lower the system, at speeds of between 150 and 250mm/second, to the required position for the pallet being presented. One giant leap for safety: The new ground-breaking, next generation AZM400 noise dosimeter, dBadge2 Casella has launched a new ground-breaking, next generation noise dosimeter, enabling employee noise exposure monitoring and reporting in real time and without disruption to workers. dBadge2 significantly enhances the productivity of onsite noise measurement and boosts confidence in collected data.

Schmersal presents new solenoid interlock for heavy safety doors at SPS IPC Drives trade fair At the SPS IPC Drives trade fair in November, the Schmersal Group presented an extension of its programme of solenoid interlocks. Characteristic properties of the AZM400 include the very high clamping force of 10,000 N, the bistable active principle and the electro-motorised locking pin. This means that the new range is also suitable for very large, motor-powered safety doors, e.g. from CNC processing centres. The combination of electronics and sensors represents a high level of availability from the user‘s perspective as well as interesting additional functions with a very high level of safety. The fail-safe AZM 400 bolt interlock consists of a locking unit with sensor technology and a motor-driven locking bolt, along with an actuator that features an encoded RFID-tag and a locking hole with two permanent magnets in which the locking bolt engages. As soon as the locking bolt has reached sufficient depth, the guard system is considered to be safely locked. Here, the AZM400 reaches a clamping force of 10,000 N. By integrating RFID technology in the safety sensors, the coding level high is reached for the individually encoded versions in accordance with ISO 14119.

Not only with the locking function but also the clamping function, the bolt lock achieves PL e and cat. 4 according to DIN EN ISO 13849-1 as well as SIL 3 according to IEC 61508. The high level of safety for the clamping function is attained among other ways by the two-channel unlocking signal. This ensures that the system is not unlocked unintentionally, for example, in the event of a cross connection. Uncontrolled access to hazard areas is thereby prevented in this way.

to employees. It also has a built-in motion sensor, which registers the amount of time that it has been worn – or not – in order to validate the measurement data. However, due to its cable-free design, weight of only four ounces and the ability to be interrogated remotely, Casella has reduced the likelihood of workers removing the device by making it unobtrusive and comfortable to wear.

dBadge2 has been designed following invaluable feedback from occupational hygienists and other professionals responsible for health and safety, and includes a number of new features that enhance functionality and connectivity. dBadge 2 works alongside the Airwave app, which runs (at launch) on Android smartphones and other devices. This enables real time data collection with the ability to share information instantly by email along with photos of the task being carried out and additional notes, for quick and simple analysis and reporting. The compact dBadge2 works within a typical

The easy to use app enables the user to fully control the noise dosimeter including the commencement and pausing of noise monitoring. It delivers alerts in the event of overexposure to noise to allow an intervention and provides a summary of important information on not only noise level, but also the performance and status of the dBadge2 itself, such as its battery life. 25 metre range of its linked smart device, allowing measurement with minimal disruption

For more information on the innovative dBadge2 from Casella, please visit: www.casellasolutions.com/uk

The AZM400 is a bistable system, which maintains the last locked status of the interlock in the event of a power failure. Even with hazardous run-on movements, the safety door remains securely interlocked if the voltage supply should be interrupted. The AZM400 makes unlocking against lateral forces of up to 300 N possible. In this way, interruptions in the production process are avoided and productivity of the machines and systems is increased. Thanks to the integrated safety-related sensor technology, the bolt position can be monitored and fault conditions identified. Consequently, the number of fault messages is reduced, which likewise contributes towards greater productivity. T +44 (0)1684 571980 swatkins@schmersal.com www.schmersal.co.uk

IP69K: FQ rotational speed sensors from RHEINTACHO With its high IP69K protection class, RHEINTACHO is set to introduce a complete new series of plastic sensors for detecting rotational speed and direction from the second quarter of 2016. Thanks to different sensor lengths, cable outlet directions and connector options, this product line offers users a high degree of flexibility, enabling adaptation to entirely individual requirements. And even if none of the available models is suitable, RHEINTACHO will be pleased to draw on its recognised expertise in customised solutions to develop the right solution for you. Why IP69K? RHEINTACHO Sales Manager Wolfgang Sexauer, “There are two main reasons why we were motivated to develop this new series. Firstly, we see a tendency to specify higher IP classes in many applications for safety reasons, than was the case a few years ago. Secondly, the IP69K protection class enables technical potentials to be realised even more efficiently today. This applies to both available materials and, of course, to intelligent constructions.”

the detection of rotational speed and direction of rotation.

The FQ product line is consequently a further development of the current FK product line, which fulfils protection class IP65. In recent years, the FK sensors have developed into a genuine success model. Numerous electromotor applications would be inconceivable without these rotational speed sensors. The basic geometrical data for the RHEINTACHO FK has meanwhile been adopted by significantly larger competitors too. The electronic design of the FQ product line is successively complemented with different variants in order to fulfil different requirements. In detail: Frequency range, detection distance, EMC and temperature stability. According to the current development plan, all versions will be designed as a two-channel sensor, enabling

RHEINTACHO wholeheartedly welcomes higher specifications from users in regard to its sensors. “Our experience has shown that specifying too low an IP class and putting the onus on users via operating or maintenance instructions, is not practical. This simply doesn’t work,” continues Wolfgang Sexauer. “When a machine is to be cleaned with a steam jet for practical reasons, it is difficult to convince the operators otherwise – regardless of what is found in the operating manuals. Subsequent problems ‘in the field’ are then inevitable. Whether in consideration of all actual costs a more cost-effective, lowerspecified component is then the means of choice is at least doubtful. And just for this reason we are expanding the proven FK product line to include the FQ series with its higher protection class. We always strive to offer the best technical and economic solution, tailored to the specific application.” T +44 (0)113 287 4411 sales@rheintacho.com www.rheintacho.com

TECHMODERN® PRESSES FOR TOMORROW’S WORLD TechModern® Presses provide Stamping; Hydroforming; Deep Drawing and the operations that metal forming presses will need to do in todays and in Tomorrow’s World. TRS Engineering Services Ltd in the West Midlands of England have designed and developed just such presses which incorporate proven technology and methodology with innovation to satisfy the future needs and adaptability. The bespoke presses are of a modular design, comprising a flat pack framework which can be readily transported to their destinations on low loader trailers and assembled on site. They are floor mounted without the need of pit foundations and can be assembled, together with their computer control systems, commissioned and maintained at floor level. The computer controlling systems are programmed on board and can, in addition to the operating command sequencing, include the component design and it’s forming simulation. For product support it can be equipped with condition monitoring – worldwide. A speciality of these presses is their Hydroforming capability to utilise fluid pressure in place of a punch to form sheet metal or tubular blanks into complex shapes. This enables the manufacture of components with improved properties and lower costs compared with conventional manufacturing techniques. The hydroforming technique allows for the production of components that would otherwise be made from multiple stampings joined together, and, presents a range of both structural and economic benefits.

Deep Drawn component

Hydroformed components

For the tube hydroforming process, the tube is loaded into hydroforming dies and the press closes on the dies. The tube is filled with liquid and internal pressure is increased and the tube takes the shape of the dies. The press is opened and the part is removed. For the panel hydroforming process the sheet is placed above the die, the press closes securing the sheet in the die and fluid under pressure fills the chamber. The pressure is increased and the sheet takes the form of the die. The press is opened and the formed panel is removed.
