Our Vision is Limitless

With every visit, our patients experience an unparalleled level of personalized care, compassion and clinical excellence. Behind the scenes, however, we’re constantly working to find new ways to advance our mission of early detection – to find breast cancers even earlier. With the introduction of Mammo+Plus, we can now predict a patient’s short-term risk of getting breast cancer before we see it on a mammogram.

The Mammo+Plus predictive score is an image-based assessment that uses a sophisticated artificial intelligence algorithm to compute a patient’s one-year risk of getting breast cancer, giving her a more complete picture of her breast health between annual screenings. Patients will fall into either a Normal or Elevated category. If a patient is in the Elevated category, that becomes an active reminder to remain diligent with her breast health – with monthly breast self-exams and compliance with her next screening.

Currently available at 10 Houston Solis Mammography centers, Mammo+Plus will be launching across the organization through the end of Q1. Watch for updates in future issues of the Solis Sun.

How is the Mammo+Plus score calculated?

Obtained at the same time as an annual mammogram, our annual predictive score is indexed to a database of tens of thousands of women studied over seven years. The score is based on three key components:

∙ 240 key data points/features from an AI interpretation of the mammogram

∙ Patient age

∙ Breast density

Royal Enterprise scheduling, RIS and portal implementation

On Oct. 24, 2022, the pilot group of centers in Arizona (Phoenix Central, Paradise Valley, Chandler, Glendale and Camel Back) were officially converted to the Royal Enterprise application. Orders are still received via our standard processes and will continue to be worked and indexed by the Contact Center.

Once orders are indexed by the Contact Center, patients will receive notification via email or text that they can now schedule their exams. Patients may call the Contact Center or log in to the portal, find their exams, schedule appointments, complete and electronically sign registration documents, provide copies of their required documents, and receive and view copies of their lay letters and images.

The IT team continues to refine and enhance the application and looks forward to the continued rollout of the Royal Enterprise application.

Our mission-driven roadmap for 2023

To propel our mission, we continue to transform the mammography experience and lead the way in advancing women’s health by pioneering technology that uses information from a mammogram to gain insights on patients, even beyond breast health.

Our new Mammo+Plus predictive tool uses groundbreaking AI to compare a patient’s mammogram to a database of tens of thousands of women to detect if they have an elevated chance of getting breast cancer in the next 12 months. Another way we’re innovating is by collaborating with medical technology leader iCAD on an AI solution that identifies a woman’s risk of cardiovascular disease by measuring breast arterial calcifications seen on her mammogram. Emerging research suggests that the amount of calcium in arteries of the breast may correlate with an increased risk of heart disease.

With heart disease and breast cancer among the leading causes of death for women in the United States, we’re in a unique position to extend our mission and impact more women’s lives through the breadth of our expertise and growing footprint across the country.

We can’t improve our patients’ lives without operational excellence, a disciplined approach to financial management and an agile focus on our growth initiatives. These must remain central to our work this year.

None of this can be achieved without the important role that each of you serve as part of Team Solis. Thank you for your dedicated work in support of our mission.

2023 to bring growth, increased access to care

We have an exciting year ahead as we grow access to life-saving mammography care for the communities we serve.

In addition to the first-quarter launch of our partnership with Memorial Healthcare System – our first hospital-based joint venture in Florida – we will expand our long-standing relationship with HCA Healthcare by joining forces with its Austin, Texas-based system, St. David’s HealthCare.

We will manage mammography services and bone density tests at five St. David’s locations, with plans to expand access to care through community-based centers. In 2023, we are planning to open 10 new centers across South Florida and North and South Texas, strengthening our mission of providing convenient access to mammography care and continuing to make a positive difference in the lives of the patients and families we serve.

LIVES WE’VE TOUCHED

Why does the work we do matter? By relentlessly pursuing early detection, we add decades to our patients’ lives and make a difference in the communities we serve. Below is a snapshot of the impact we had in 2022.

Through our community outreach program, we have sponsored Careity for several years. The non-profit organization provides breast cancer screening, treatment and patient services to uninsured and underinsured women in North Central Texas.

Without Cariety’s services, many more women would have had their breast cancer diagnosed at an advanced stage, with worse prognoses. Careity’s ongoing efforts in early detection will continue to provide women more cancer treatment options that preserve their quality of life.

Solis Mammography is honored to work with Careity Foundation to advance the cause of breast health awareness and early detection of breast cancer. Our dedication to providing a better mammogram through state-of-the-art technology and specialized diagnostic expertise, along with Careity’s active and compassionate approach to service, are ensuring that more women in our North Central Texas communities have access to the breast health care and support they deserve.
