Typology: High School Location: Malvan, Sindhudurga Site Area: 24930sq.m.

Inspiration: While doing workshop at Laurie baker center

I saw so many circular structures which are mystery within themselves. I asked to K.P. Kannan that why all the structure has circular in shape he replied “because it is stronger than a straight wall and creates harmony to the viewer.”

I released that creating such designs and following it to the entire site is not an easy task but it is interesting so I decided to make something circular which looks like an infinite on going cycle of space and structure.

Concept: Wadi is a concept of small group of houses

and families used to live together in konkan region of Maharashtra. Forming cluster of open spaces and gathering spaces near to the houses is very old concept of kokani people which is deforming now because of the modernism.

I tried to achieve that old concept in my planning with amalgamation of curves in different forms like an arches, structural curves, grounds, landscape and etc.

ZILLA PARISHAD SCHOOL | MALVAN | 2023 A design brief of a zilla parishad school with basic amenities like classrooms, boys hostel, girls hostel, staff quarters, canteen, multipurpose grounds, multipurpose hall, etc.

In my planning, I have kept curves and circles all over the site with a lot of fenestrations and levels, which creates interesting spaces for users. The structure is load-bearing; hence, I have kept curve walls, which will be stronger than straight walls. Lots of interactive clusters of spaces have been provided. Arcade provides good structural support, and it also looks magnificent while walking under it.

Material pallet: laterite stone for walls and red burnt bricks for Catalan segmental vaults. Floors with laterite tiles As it has only a ground floor, I have used load-bearing techniques that are very costeffective and sustainable.

FLEA MARKET

Typology: Commercial Location: Valsad, Gujarat Site Area: 9941sq.m.

Inspiration: The Banyan Tree Cafe which is also

known as IF-BE is a good example of reuse of century old structure and sustainability. The height of the hall, texture of the exposed wall and northlight trusses inspired me to try them out in my design.

The book ‘Space, Form and Order’ gave me different visuals that how we can create an imposing ambiance with the help of forms and it’s order in the given space.

Concept: Segregated Clusters, clusters of different functioning spaces connected with verandah of entries. Top windows with north-light trusses gives sustainable approach towards providing natural daylight and good ventilation.

FLEA MARKET | VALSAD 2022 Flea Market is a very old concept, in small towns where people used to visit the market for buying things in daily life such as Vegetables, Fruits, flowers, meat, fish, etc.

Here I have segregated Veg market and Non-veg market with the Cafeteria using 4m verandah to both sides of the cafe, as the site is in Valsad Gujarat, where most of the population is vegetarian and they prefer buying things only from the veg market.

Exhibition room is segregated from chaos of the markets.1 entry is provided for people and 1 is for service entry, exits are different. Surface parking has natural shading with evergreen local trees.

Maximum ground is covered with green grass which prevent soil erosion.

Inspiration: Wada is a style of houses with one

or more courtyards and verandah at the edge.

Wada is one of the noble source of inspiration to learn so many vernacular things with accordance of comfort and simple methods of designing and construction.

Concept: Wada is a concept of houses with

passive cooling and lighting techniques which is most commonly found in many regions of Maharashtra. An attempt of achieving human comforts with centuries old wada system in my design with modern days needs and the segregating of public, semi-public, private spaces.

Landscape 05.

Nashik

Typology: Information Center Location: Pandav leni, Nashik , Maharashtra Site Area: 3000sq.m.

Inspiration: The farmers in the region of sahyadri and the nature is my inspiration here.

Nature covers itself green blanket and grows giant trees to hold the contours hence I applied the same techniques here as it is the foot of the hill.

Concept: Go local and grow local is my

approach to this landscape project. 1m height retaining wall provided at the high contours to hold the soil and covered with creeping fig.

Local trees like Neem, Jamun, Mango, Teak, champa having big diameter can control the heavy rainfall soil erosion. Duranta, Tulsi is planted as edge plants which gives pedestrian direction. Rammed soil paths connects the users to the ground and the soil.

Amphitheater is provided at the high contours which is convenient to build. Provided a small piece of land for growing vegetable for the cafeteria.
