steps. First is the initial consultation. After deciding to proceed, pre-operative tests and evaluations are conducted—these vary by patient, but typically include lab tests for everyone and an EKG if you are over 50. On the day of surgery, you’ll undergo the procedure under anesthesia. Recovery time also varies by procedure, but post-operative rest, follow-up appointments, and adhering to care instructions are crucial. Patience is key as final results often take time to fully manifest. Throughout, open communication with your surgeon and our team is essential for a successful and satisfying outcome.
Q: How will I know if my issues require surgical or non-surgical treatment options? Determining if you’ll need surgical or non-surgical treatments involves many factors. Surgical options are generally suitable for significant changes—such as reshaping or restructuring. Non-surgical treatments, like injectables or lasers, are better for subtle enhancements or temporary adjustments. During a collaborative consultation, our team considers your desired outcomes, recovery time, and budget to arrive at the optimal treatment.

Q: Will I have to have a hospital stay or will it be outpatient surgery? Whether you will require a hospital stay or undergo outpatient surgery will depend on your medical history and the complexity of the surgery. Minor procedures are typically done on an outpatient basis. However, more extensive surgeries may necessitate a hospital stay for monitoring/recovery.

Q: What is your education and training background? Early on in medical school, I became involved in plastic surgery research. After completing a breast reconstruction research appointment at MD Anderson, I completed a 6-year integrated plastic surgery residency at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas. As the only Level I trauma center between Dallas and Austin, I had broad exposure to all aspects of plastic surgery—hand, breast, craniofacial, general reconstruction, microsurgical, and aesthetic surgery. I went on to complete an additional 1-year aesthetic fellowship at the highly sought-after Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute. This additional year of expert training was spent focusing on all aspects of surgical and non-surgical aesthetics.
