SL: What are some of your biggest struggles as a Mom? GM: Mom guilt! It’s so easy to compare yourself to other moms and I’ve learned you have to be confident in how you raise your kids and the decisions you make. It’s easy to forget that sometimes!
SL: What would your perfect day off be like? Describe it. GM: Our family’s happy place is the beach. I would start my day with a workout because that is my favorite way to start any day. We would spend our day bouncing back and forth between the pool and the beach and we would end the day with a delicious seafood dinner and a cocktail for mom and dad and ice cream for kids! I’d also selfishly hope I could get some reading time in on the beach!
SL: What’s the one song that means the most to you? GM: I love music but when I have my ear buds in or I’m in the car, I’m listening to a book! So I’m going to modify this question a bit. My favorite book is The Great Alone from my favorite author Kristen Hannah. The main character of all her books are strong, independent females and her stories never close with a fairy tale ending. I appreciate that because that’s real life. There are bumps in the road and while good things happen along the way, it often takes a lot of work to get there! Her stories demonstrate strength and determination and I would only hope that those would be characteristic that would also describe me.
SL: What advice would you give to your younger self about Motherhood? GM: Don’t get too comfortable in each phase, they are always changing! Learn to pivot.
SL: Is there a quote, saying, words of advice or scripture you consider words to live by? GM: “Take care of yourself as if you are the most awesome person you have ever met.” – Jen Sincero. I am a huge proponent of self-care so I can be physically and mentally there for my kids.
SL: If you could share a meal with any woman past, present or future who would it be? Why? GM: Reese Witherspoon. She’s a creative genius! I love how she values female authors and I’ve been loving her book to TV/movie adaptations.
SL: What Mom from real-life or even TV/movies do you admire most? GM: Lorelai Gilmore. She is a single mom who does it all. I respect the way she raised Rory and I can only hope Sadie and I will have the same open communication and close relationship.
SL: At the end of a long day, what do you do for fun or relaxation? GM: Read!
