In addition to creating beautiful portraits, Alycia Savage is also an international award winner, print competition judge and educational speaker—teaching thousands of photographers from across the world every year.

Q: What type of photography do you specialize in? I own a commercial, fine art photography studio in Keller Town Center. Savage Studio is a product-based boutique providing clients a luxury experience and premium art pieces including, custom heirloom albums, canvas gallery wraps, hand torn art, acrylic blocks, metal masterpieces and custom frames. We cater to families, high school seniors, corporate professionals, beauty and portrait sessions. I’ve always had a passion for photography and now I get to share that with my clients!

Q: I get nervous in front of the camera, how do you make clients comfortable? I have been told that I have an out-going and silly personality which helps put my subjects at ease in front of the camera and makes my sessions lots of fun! My boutique studio is a safe space where my clients feel calm and secure. I will guide you on posing so you never feel anxious about what to do.

Q: What’s the best part about your job? After becoming a mother, I realized how quickly my children changed right before my very eyes. Relentlessly, I started to document their little lives through countless photographs—knowing they would capture a glimpse of the person they were at each particular moment in their life. That’s the best part of my job. I get to capture those priceless memories and milestones that might otherwise be forgotten! And now with over 22 years as a full time professional photographer, I have been so very fortunate to be able to capture these special moments officially since 2001.

Q: How much do you charge? This is an investment in preserving your memories. My fees include the photographer’s time and

talent, custom editing of images and an In-Person Ordering Session at my Keller studio within two weeks after your session. Prints, files and products are purchased separately from the session fee. Portrait sessions can be either in studio or on location in the DFW metroplex. Due to high demand and to ensure I maintain a superior level of service, I have a $500 minimum investment for every session. Most clients invest between $1500-$5000 on their custom photography. I also offer clients a 0% interest financing plan. You can follow me on social media and join my email list for seasonal sales and specials.

Q: How do you define your success? True success comes from knowing I’m creating family heirlooms by preserving once in a lifetime memories for generations to come. The excitement, smiles, and tears of happiness on my clients’ faces is one of the most rewarding feelings I experience. When I began my career as a professional photographer, my priority was to provide relaxing and fun experiences with amazing art products. I am honored to be able to say that I still photograph almost all of my very first clients after 22 years in business. It’s an amazing feeling to get to photograph a high school senior that I have been photographing since their mother’s maternity session!

Q: How should I prepare for my session? It depends on the type of portrait, but here are suggestions that will be helpful for most sessions. Schedule appointments—haircuts, manicures, pedicures … whatever touchups you’re planning, make sure to get on your stylist’s calendar early. If you plan on a haircut or color, do so at least one week in advance. Be sure to shave the day of your appointment too (especially guys). Brows need to be waxed/plucked/shaped how you want them. No heavy tanning or spray tanning before the shoot! Tanning in excess can look unnatural and can throw your skin tone off. If you do plan spray or self tan, be sure the ankles, knees, armpits, hands and wrists are not blotchy. Don’t forget nails! Your hands will end up in some of your favorite poses, so be sure to take time to make them presentable. Have your nails manicured and pedicured a day or two before your session. We will always suggest neutral colors to keep the overall look soft. Nude, blush, cream, ivory or french tips will finish off your look perfectly. Bright or really dark colors can distract from the overall creamy tones of the portraits. Most importantly, be as relaxed as possible. I give full direction on poses and expressions so you don’t have to worry. Arrive to your session with a great attitude and be ready to have fun creating heirlooms that you and your family will treasure for a lifetime.
