THE SPIRIT OF LIVING IS IN THE GIVING

Semmelmann Interiors has built a reputation around being passionate about bringing their clients’ dreams to life. Apart from her passion for designing homes, Susan is also driven by her charitable work. “The Spirit of Living is in the Giving” is the motto for Semmelmann Interiors. Susan says it summarizes her purpose in life for doing what she does. “I live to share my heart and talents with the world around me. One core value within my company is we all have a giver’s heart—it is amazing the power that comes from a giving spirit.” Susan’s attitude of gratitude was born out of a trying time in her family’s life. In 2010, Susan’s husband Marc was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. At the time, Susan was working a full-time job. She then carried over the operations of Marc’s business, all while caring for her children and making back and forth trips to MD Anderson. During Marc’s stay at MD Anderson, Susan came across a charitable organization called Raquel’s Wings for Life, which flew her back and forth throughout his treatment. Susan and Marc pledged to pay forward this kindness. Soon after Marc’s recovery, he received his pilot’s license and now flies patients and their families to and from MD Anderson several days a week. Holding true herself to the pledge, Susan surprised the non-profit organization Wish with Wings with a complete custom makeover of their office lobby. Susan continues this tradition with the Semmelmann Interiors Foundation, which provides charitable makeovers for one charity each year. “I live and work to give back to those around me. The more you give the more you get back, and what you get back is a full heart to share joy and passion with others.”
