FOR THE REDUCTION OF DROWNINGS
Drowning has caused over 2.5 million drowning deaths in the last decade. The overwhelming majority of these deaths (90%) occur in low and middle-income countries. In Brazil: 16 Brazilians die from drowning every day, which means ONE every 90 minutes. Drowning claims 4 children's lives per day, and a child dies inside a house every 3 days.
Drowning is the 1st cause of death for children aged 1 to 4, 2nd for ages 5 to 9, and 3rd for ages 10 to 19. The human, social, and economic cost of these losses is unbearably high and entirely preventable.
