July 29, 2025 ~ Chamber Bonus eBlast

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

As summer winds down, I want to take a moment, on behalf of the Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce, to sincerely thank you for continuing to support our Chamber and the incredible small businesses that make Smithville such a special place.

Your involvement, energy, and commitment to shopping local help fuel the heartbeat of our town. Whether you’re attending events, cheering on new ventures, or simply spreading the word, you are part of what keeps Smithville growing strong.

We’re thrilled to be celebrating Frontier Bank’s one-year anniversary here in Smithville on Friday, August 1st, and to welcome Mutt’s Last Stand as our newest Chamber member. Don’t miss Mutt's Last Stand Grand Opening celebration on Saturday, August 2nd.

Looking ahead, we invite you to connect with fellow community members at our August Mixer, hosted by Frost Bank at the Smithville Rec Center, and mark your calendar for our Quarterly Luncheon, featuring guest speaker Dr. Molley Perry, Superintendent of Smithville ISD. It’s the perfect time to hear what’s ahead for our schools and community.

As the school year quickly approaches, we know students, teachers, and staff are getting ready and plenty of kiddos are already hard at work in summer training for the upcoming sports seasons. We’re cheering you all on!

Be sure to check out our online calendar for upcoming events and happenings around town and don’t forget to share this e-blast with friends and family who want to stay connected.

Thank you for your continued support, your neighborly spirit, and your love for this community. When we support local, we all thrive.

GRAND OPENING: Mutt’s Last Stand!

Smithville, it's time to raise a glass! Join us on Saturday, August 2 as we celebrate the grand opening of Mutt’s Last Stand ? your new go-to hangout for cold drinks and good vibes. 205 NE Loop 230, Smithville, TX (Corner of 230 & Gresham) Open 11:00 AM ? 11:00 PM

Enjoy refreshing cold drinks and live music throughout the day, featuring special performances from the talented Austin area singer/songwriter, Sophia Warren. Discover unique pieces at their art show, spotlighting local artist of Smithville, Coyote Cody.

Philanthropy and animal welfare are a huge part of their lives, and it's one of the main reasons Mutt's Last Stand was started, to share this passion with others through a for-profit company that gives back. That's why 10% of the day's proceeds will go directly to amazing Texas animal welfare non-profits, including their dear friends, Animal Defenders Alliance, and The Bully Sanctuary? proudly founded and operated by the very same team behind Mutt's Last Stand! Come early, stay late ? you won't want to miss it!

Small Business Tip of the Month: Document Your Processes

Future-Proof Your Business

Even if you're the only person running your business, taking time to write down how you do things can be a game-changer. This includes everything from how you open and close your store, take orders, manage inventory, handle customer complaints, invoice clients, or even prepare for events. Why does it matter?

• Consistency: Documented processes ensure that every task is done the same way every time, which improves efficiency and customer satisfaction.

• Time-Saving: When you're not reinventing the wheel each time, you free up mental energy and reduce errors.

• Training Made Easy: If you bring on part-time help or plan to grow your team, having written SOPs (standard operating procedures) makes training faster and more consistent.

• Business Continuity: Life happens. If you're ever unavailable, someone else can step in and keep things running with minimal disruption.

• Growth-Ready: Systems are the foundation of scaling a business. With well-documented procedures, you're ready to delegate or automate when the time comes. Start small ? pick one task you do often and write down the steps. Over time, you’ll build a playbook that adds real value to your business.

The Chamber is excited to help promote our business members events!
