Pensiamo alla bellezza di una residenza d’epoca, sublimata da un panorama mozzafiato, completata dal relax offerto tra servizi e opportunità... pensiamo all’esperienza di viaggio, gusto e scoperta che può fornire ai suoi clienti. Cosa manca per rendere tutto decisamente perfetto? L’esperienza sensoriale che arriva anche dal suono: una location esclusiva e unica, infatti, deve poter offrire a chi la frequenta un sound unico e ben calibrato con gli spazi e l’ambiente circostante. A capirlo bene è stato Albert Diks, fondatore di una delle location più esclusive nel mondo dell’hotellerie europea. Ma andiamo con ordine: tutto partì anni fa quando, giovanissimo, in viaggio con la famiglia in Spagna, si innamorò di una delle zone più affascinanti della Catalogna: vecchi castelli e palazzi antichi abbellivano quel paesaggio unico al mondo, assolato ed emozionante. E così, qualche anno dopo, nel 2001, lo stesso Diks decise di dare vita a un proprio progetto nel mondo dell’hotellerie: una dimora storica, Castell d’Empordà, che iniziò a vivere una seconda esistenza grazie ad un restiling che rese il castello del XIV Secolo situato in Costa Brava l’elegante hotel a 4 stelle che si può frequentare oggi. Una spa di ultima generazione, un’elegante area lounge per il relax e gli affari e una posizione invidiabile che rende l’Hotel Castell d’Empordà (hotelcastellemporda.com) una location esclusiva con vista mozzafiato, incastonata tra le colline del posto.

AMMODERNARE… L’ASCOLTO

Passano 20 anni e la proprietà decide da rinnovare una delle componenti più importanti della dimora, il sistema audio specialmente delle aree esterne, che comprendono piscina, ristorante, area lounge e zona polivalente, il tutto su differenti livelli. Obiettivo primario del progetto era offrire agli ospiti una ambientazione sonora di qualità, dedicata a ogni zona, ovvero indipendente che controllabile singolarmente, con una spiccata direttività considerando che i vari spazi sono adiacenti, in linea con l’ambiente circostante e con apparecchiature idonee anche all’uso esterno; al contempo l’impianto doveva risultare semplice da usare anche per il personale dell’hotel. L’incarico della progettazione e della fornitura degli impianti, sia audio che illuminotecnico, è stata affidata a Kamal Productions & Events, che ha scelto Adam Hall e in particolare gli altoparlanti LD Systems DQOR e MAUI i1. Si tratta infatti di prodotti ideali per questo tipo di installazione outdoor che, grazie alla combinazione tra le due serie, hanno potuto creare quattro differenti zone di rinforzo del suono per generare atmosfere diverse a livello di impatto sonoro, sulla base delle peculiarità ed esigenze di ciascuna area ed ambiente. In fase di progetto sono stati fatti vari sopralluoghi, diverse demo sul posto, e sono stati realizzati i relativi schemi con il software di simulazione acustica Ease Focus, utilizzando le librerie GLL disponibili per tutti i prodotti del marchio. Kamal Sukhwani Managing Director di Kamal Productions & Events, ha commentato le difficoltà e peculiarità riscontrate a livello tecnico per questo incarico: “Poiché si tratta di un hotel e ci sono camere proprio sotto la piscina, era molto importante che il suono fosse distribuito correttamente per non dover alzare troppo il volume e quindi disturbare gli ospiti. Abbiamo quindi sonorizzato lo spazio della piscina e food truck (più lontano alle camere) con prodotti più potenti come il MAUI i1, e nello spazio restante abbiamo distribuito altoparlanti DQOR5, più discreti, a due vie e capaci quindi di supportare da soli l’intera gamma sonora”. A livello tecnico e di impianto sono state create quattro zone a seconda del volume richiesto: zona cerimonie, chill out, piscina e food truck, ovvero l’area adibita come pista da ballo durante gli eventi e dove è

Adam Hall MAUI

MAUI i1 è il primo MAUI sviluppato appositamente per l’impiego in installazioni fisse: si tratta di un innovativo altoparlante passivo da interno ed esterno a colonna (Classe IP65), che alloggia nove woofer midrange da 3” e due tweeter al neodimio da 1”. Grazie alla guida d’onda ottimizzata con tecnologia BEM, la dispersione sonora verticale è controllata con precisione e garantisce una distribuzione uniforme del suono anche in ambienti problematici dal lato acustico. Per un’integrazione ideale in sistemi di diffusori a tensione costante, dispone di un selettore da 8 ohm/70 V/100 V con potenze da 120, 60, 30, 15 e 7,5 watt. Dispone di una morsettiera a 4 poli per il collegamento in parallelo degli altoparlanti e un crossover audio passivo per una risposta in frequenza bilanciata, e protezione contro i sovraccarichi per i tweeter.

Adam Hall MAUI

MAUI i1 is the first MAUI developed specifically for use in fixed installations: it is an innovative passive speaker for indoor and outdoor column (IP65 class), which houses nine 3” midrange woofers and two 1” neodymium tweeters. Thanks to the waveguide optimised with BEM technology, the vertical sound dispersion is precisely controlled and ensures uniform distribution of sound even in problematic environments on the acoustic side. For ideal integration into constant voltage speaker systems, it has an 8 ohm / 70 V / 100 V selector with powers of 120, 60, 30, 15 and 7.5 watts. It has a 4-pole terminal block for parallel connection of the speakers and a passive audio crossover for a balanced frequency response, and overload protection for the tweeters. www.ld-systems.com

In ogni area è inoltre stato predisposto un ingresso audio, in modo che il DJ e la sua consolle possano posizionarsi in luoghi diversi a seconda dell’evento previsto. Per controllare l’In/Out di queste zone Kamal Productions ha scelto la matrice LD Systems Zone X 1208, sempre di Adam Hall, che può essere gestita direttamente dall’utente tramite il display da 5,5”. La matrice è inoltre stata utilizzata per il tuning dell’impianto: routing, equalizzazione e tagli di frequenze, per ognuno degli altoparlanti.

VERSATILITÀ E FACILITÀ DI UTILIZZO

Kamal Productions & Events ha condotto il progetto, mentre Elecson Sonido Profesional ha curato l’installazione sul posto. Proprio Elecson aveva da poco lavorato a una installazione piuttosto simile sull’Isola di Formentera, sempre utilizzando diffusori LD Systems della serie scelta anche per il progetto a Castell d’Empordà, DQOR e MAUI i1. Un lavoro eccellente che ha lasciato utenti e committenti soddisfatti.

Per Kamal Productions & Events invece questo è stato il primo progetto affidato alla tecnologia a marchio LD Systems, “Ma non sarà l’ultimo – ha detto Kamal Sukhwani- Il personale dell’hotel si è dimostrato entusiasta del facile funzionamento di questo particolare sistema audio tramite i controller touchscreen con interfaccia utente appositamente programmata. Chiunque può infatti controllare sia le singole zone sia l’intero sistema senza istruzioni preliminari: un sistema, dunque, particolarmente pratico e facile da usare, che valorizza ulteriormente – e anche sul piano gestionale – la straordinaria location di Castell d’Empordà”.

I PRODOTTI INSTALLATI

Nessun problema a livello di integrazione, grazie alla tecnologia avanzata e alla versatilità dei prodotti. Come riferito dai professionisti che hanno operato all’installazione di 24 altoparlanti a 2 vie DQOR 5 T B 5″, 10 altoparlanti a colonna MAUI i1 e 10 subwoofer SUB 88 2 x 8″, in aggiunta ad una matrice DSP ZONE X 1208 per fungere da centro di controllo per le 4 zone, ognuna poi controllata da un amplificatore di potenza DSP 45 K a 4 canali e da un amplificatore MDi8-6K a 8 canali. Infine, trattandosi di uno spazio esterno, tutte le apparecchiature sono IP 65, qualità tecnica che garantisce una massima protezione contro le diverse condizioni meteorologiche della zona. 

Think of the beauty of a period residence, surrounded by breath-taking views, complemented by the relaxation offered by services and opportunities ... we think of the travel, taste and discovery experience that it can provide to its customers. So what’s missing to make it completely perfect? The sensory experience that also comes from sound: an exclusive and unique location, in fact, must be able to offer those who frequent it a unique sound that is well-balanced with the surrounding spaces and environment. Albert Diks, founder of one of the most exclusive locations in the European hotel industry, understood this well. But let’s start from the beginning: it all started years ago when, at a very young age, travelling with his family in Spain, Albert Diks fell in love with one of the most fascinating areas of Catalonia: old castles and ancient palaces adorned that unique, sunny and exciting landscape.

And so, a few years later, in 2001, Diks himself decided to give life to his own project in the world of hotels: a historic residence, Castell d’Empordà, which began to live a second life thanks to a restyling that made the 14th century castle located on the Costa Brava the elegant 4-star hotel you can stay at today. A state-of-the-art spa, an elegant lounge area for relaxation and business and an enviable location that makes the Hotel Castell d’Empordà (hotelcastellemporda. com) an exclusive location with breath-taking views, nestled in the local hills.

20 years pass and the property decides to renovate one of its most important components- the audio system, especially in the outdoor areas, which include the swimming pool, restaurant, lounge area and multipurpose area, all on different levels. The primary objective of the project was to offer guests a quality sound environment, dedicated to each area, i.e. independent and individually controllable, with a marked directivity considering that the various spaces are adjacent, in line with the surrounding environment and with suitable equipment also for external use. At the same time, the system had to be easy to use for the hotel staff too. The task of designing and supplying the systems, both audio and lighting, was entrusted to Kamal Productions & Events, which chose Adam Hall and in particular the LD Systems DQOR and MAUI i1 loudspeakers. In fact, these are ideal products for this type of outdoor installation which, thanks to the combination of the two series, were able to create four different sound reinforcement zones to generate different atmospheres in terms of sound impact, based on the peculiarities and needs of each area and environment. During the design phase, various inspections were made, several demos on site, and the related diagrams were made with the Ease Focus acoustic simulation software, using the GLL libraries available for all the brand’s products.

Kamal Sukhwani, Managing Director of Kamal Productions & Events, commented on the difficulties and peculiarities encountered on a technical level for this assignment: “As this is a hotel and there are rooms right under the pool, it was very important that the sound was distributed correctly without having to turn up the volume too much and therefore disturb the guests. We have therefore sonorised the space of the swimming pool and food truck (further to the rooms) with more powerful products such as the MAUI i1, and in the remaining space we have distributed DQOR5 speakers, more discreet, two-way and therefore capable of supporting the entire sound range.” On a technical and plant level, four areas have been created depending on the required volume: ceremonies area, chill out, swimming pool and food truck, i.e. the area used as a dance floor during events and where the MAUI i1 column has been installed, powerful, able to withstand the elements, and to cover the entire area. An audio input has also been set up in each area, so that the DJ and his console can be positioned in different places depending on the planned event. To control the In / Out of these zones Kamal Productions has chosen the LD Systems Zone X 1208 matrix, also by Adam Hall, which can be managed directly by the user via the 5.5” display. The matrix was also used for the tuning of the system: routing, equalisation and frequency cuts, for each of the speakers.

VERSATILITY AND EASE OF USE

Kamal Productions & Events led the project, while Elecson Sonido Professional oversaw the installation on site. Elecson had recently worked on a rather similar installation on the island of Formentera, always using diffusore LD Systems of the series chosen also for the project in Castell d’Empordà, DQOR and MAUI i1. An excellent job that left users and clients satisfied. For Kamal Productions & Events, on the other hand, this was the first project entrusted to the LD Systems brand technology, “But it won’t be the last,” - said Kamal Sukhwani. – “The hotel staff were enthusiastic about the easy operation of this particular audio system via touchscreen controllers with specially programmed user interface. Anyone can control both the individual areas and the entire system without preliminary instructions: a system, therefore, particularly practical and easy to use, which further enhances -also on the management level - the extraordinary location of Castell d’Empordà.”

THE PRODUCTS INSTALLED

There were integration problems, thanks to advanced technology and product versatility. As reported by the professionals who installed 24 DQOR 5 TB 5” 2-way speakers, 10 MAUI i1 column speakers and 10 SUB 88 2 x 8” subwoofers, in addition to a ZONE X 1208 DSP matrix to act as control centre for the 4 zones, each then controlled by a 4-channel 45K DSP power amplifier and an 8-channel MDi8-6K amplifier. Finally, since it is an outdoor space, all the equipment is IP 65, a technical quality that guarantees maximum protection against the various weather conditions in the area. Installed Equipment
