ESSENTIAL OIL of the

MONTH Long experience has “taught me that people who do not like geraniums have something morally unsound about them. BEVERLEY NICHOLS, MERRY HALL

GERANIUM’S quiet sweetness invites us to lean in a little closer. Despite their unassuming nature, geraniums have found themselves into legends, poetry and literature. Something about their bright bursts of color seem to inspire the imagination. While the flower has a subtle scent when growing, the essential oil has a very present fragrance, soft and flowery. In aromatherapy, Geranium is used for its balancing properties. Historically used for hormone imbalance in women, this sweet oil brings calm in a sea of chaos. When using this oil in aromatherapy, concentrate on those things that need to be more in balance in your life and envision them finding harmony. Geranium is also our

reminder to be kind, and focusing on the aspects of ourselves that deserve more kindness is an effective meditation while diffusing this sweet oil. Geranium oil mixes well with citrus oils like mandarin and lemon as well as herbaceous scents like lavender. Try this mix from Karin at EO Exchange: For a balancing and calming bath experience, add the following to hot bath water and breathe deeply:    

Q&A QUINOA? YES, QUINOA. Quinoa protein is not only an effective and ethical source of protein for your diet, it’s an incredible source of protein for your hair. Quinoa gets right into the hair shaft and strengthens each strand naturally. Plant proteins are easily absorbed into the system unlike animal proteins which can weigh hair down. Quinoa is kind of a superhero, it comes in and saves the day and asks for nothing in return. Now every good superhero needs a sidekick and Abyssinian Oil is just the counterpart to Quinoa’s awesome strength. Abyssinian Oil has been used for centuries (we’re talking Egyptian Queens, baby) to moisturize and protect hair. This incredible oil locks in moisture, allowing the hair’s natural oils to do what they were meant to do—make your hair look great. So what do you do with a pair of super ingredients like quinoa and abyssinian oil? Well, if you’re an incredibly talented chemist working over at Small World Trading Co., you come up with a blend of essential oils that make the shampoo and conditioner work more effectively and create an incredible scent. Each one of the Everyone Hair duos has its own blend, and each works in its own way to give your hair balance, moisture or volume. Hey, your hair works every day and every night for you and that kind of performance deserves some appreciation. Show your hair some love with Everyone Hair.

EARTH DAY

APRIL 22 IS EARTH DAY! The theme this year is Green Cities and we want to talk about the details. While the word city immediately brings to mind the larger picture (buildings, highways and lots and lots of people) it’s the little things that make a city. Every person and thing in that bustling metropolis needs to be cleaned and the sustainability of the products used to keep things clean is important. The average city has millions of inhabitants, and the environmental impact of each of those people washing harmful ingredients down the drain every time they shower is a big deal. Sustainable and ethical personal care and cleaning products are one important part of any green city. Happy Earth Day, and thank you for doing your part to make the world a better place.
