This is a posthumous work. My father Nils Guttorp wrote many haiku poems while he lived in the old school in the tiny village of Fågeltofta in the far south of Sweden.

He wanted to make a book from the poems and I promised to help him. When he for health reasons eventually had to move from Fågeltofta, I collected hundreds of haiku poems that were everywhere in the big house: in piles, on loose pieces of paper, or on old envelopes under the bed.

Haikus from Fågeltofta

Nils passed away at age 92 in the spring of 2013, and now his book is ready. The poems contain standpoints and experiences from a long life: on art and music, on sports, weather and meta– physics, on the simplest and the most difficult. We talked on the telephone every day for twelve years. I now pass the conversation on to you, dear reader. The house in Fågeltofta has gone through yet another metamorphosis: it has been a school, a workshop, a dwelling place – and now it is a second-hand bookshop. Anna Guttorp
