OFFICIAL MATCH DAY PROGRAMME 2011/12
The Manager
Sloane FC welcome FC Deportivo Galicia to Hackney Marshes Centre. After a fortnight of snow and waterlogged pitches Sloane finally manage to get a game under their belts today against old favourites FC Deportivo Galicia. FC Deportivo started the season very positively and won 3 of 4 but they haven’t won since then. Their last victory came in August against Indian Gymkhana. However like Sloane they were handed an away victory over Broadfields. Sloane have been on and off this season consistently inconsistent it might be said. The return of two prodigal sons against Kodak
(Harrow) Ramin “Thierry” Jarvand and Shaun “Henry” Lugo made a massive difference to the team. A confident performance against an unusually down spirited Kodak side meant Sloane could get their confidence up for the match against their bogey side and local rivals, Sporting Hackney. A side Sloane have surprisingly never beaten in 4 attempts! Unfortunately the ground was frozen and the game called off on Saturday morning. This of course means that Sloane are up for a another game, and a win today would mean 6
game unbeaten run, dating back to early November, where Sporting Hackney, came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at the death! In fact the last team who beat us was actually Broadfields in January, however due to them fielding a suspended player the game was awarded to Sloane, which was a nice 3pt surprise. It has meant that Sloane have now scored more points that the whole of 10/11 season and could break into the top 5 today. It just needs Kodak to turn on some magic against Singh Sabbha for that to happen! Saturday 18th February

Recent History The roots of FC Deportivo Galicia go back to 1968 when a group of immigrants from Galicia in North-West Spain formed their own football team in West London. Initially it operated under the banner of Centro Gallego de Londres a social, cultural and sports club set up to cater for the needs of the rapidly expanding Spanish/Galician community. The club reached its peak both on and off the pitch between 1993 and 1997 which saw huge success in both cup and league on a consistent basis. The subsequent years marked a steep downfall, the club started to lose its identity and there was little involvement from the community to the point that the 25th anniversary almost signalled the winding up of FC Deportivo Galicia. In 2007-08 there was therefore a change

in management and focus with Leo Decabo and José Andón taking charge of the team. The initial objectives were to bring the team together, attract the younger community to the club and bring back the togetherness the club experienced previously. On the field for the following 2 years there was no success however, the squad’s average age has decreased significantly. Off the field things have improved drastically. Financially the club has ended the last two seasons in credit. This was achieved by support from the community as well as everyone involved in the football team. Following the experience of these past 2 years the goal is to succeed in the league on the field. The club as a whole is excited and looking forward to seeing the team improve on the field and re-ignite past success, an achievable goal.

Middlesex County Football League Premier Division updated 17.02.12
Match Report MCFL Premier Division Sloane 5 Kodak (Harrow) 0 FULL-back Darragh Moran helped himself to a double as Sloane proved too strong for the men from Harrow on Saturday.
The goal of the match followed in the second-half when Aalit struck his ninth of the season with a fantastic 20-yard free-kick.
Shaun Logo opened his account for 2012 by tapping home to break the deadlock after a fine run and cross from the right by Samir Aalit.
Moran broke through yet again to make it four and skipper Nick Biela got in on the act to round off the scoring near the end.
The hosts continued to take the game to their opponents and they were rewarded with a second just before the break when left-back Moran darted through and slotted home emphatically.
