OFFICIAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME | MIDDLESEX COUNTY FOOTBALL LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION | 2013/14 SEASON
Welcome Cricklewood Wanderers FC to Burton Court. So we are here! Back at Burton Court. After almost two years after Sloane were asked to leave the London’s most central pitch in the league for commercial reasons. The RHC have kindly offered us an olive branch to come back, an expensive olive branch but still something that we hope that can be the start of a great relationship. We must welcome Cricklewood Wanderers a new team to the league, who have started brilliantly losing just once so far and unbeaten in 5, winning 3 of those. Sloane however are not in good form, having not won a match since beating top of the table FC Deportivo in the first week of September.
And that is what appears to be the problem. We can beat teams who are sitting at the top of the table, but the consistency isn’t there. After a short tenure in charge, we have said goodbye to Jordan McCann who decided that his increased responsibility at Luton Town and the travelling involved coming to training and matches at Hackney Marshes means he can’t take continue the role. I am particularly disappointed with this, and the search for a new manager continues. However that the club is back at Burton Court and a new sponsor in the pipeline we have an opportunity to get the ball rolling on this season. Steve Pigott, Interim 1st team manager

MATCH REPORTS
Sloane FC, under interim player-management, had key players missing through injury, work and foreign travel. Sloane lined up with an unfamiliar back 4, a new partnership in central midfield, and big man-little man combo up top. Sloane got of to a shocking start caused by lack of communication. 2 goals were conceded in the first 15 minutes following direct through balls which should have been dealt with, but weren’t, and their striker finishing tidily on both occasions. Their third goal was a great strike from BA’s “Scouse” up top. That one couldn’t be legislated for - Albert had no chance, with the power and accuracy of the strike from the edge of the box taking the ball through a crowd of players and just inside the left hand post. That said, Sloane played well for the final ten minutes of the first half. Some good build up play led to a free kick, which Simon Wright arched into the back post for Reece Crisp to calmly header in unmarked. Crisp stays on course to this season become the first Sloane player to score a 100 goals for the club. Sloane followed up with some more aggressive attacking play to end the half, and Dan Kelly was unlucky that his snatched shot only hit the post. Sloane continued to attack as the second half began well, with Aalit and Willidrain playing the ball nicely through midfield. 5 minutes in, and Russ Pickett skipped away from BA’s right back and centre half and calmly lofted the ball with perfect weight over the goaly’s head to make it 3-2. Pickett worked hard all game, and deserved the goal. Sloane continued to attack, but from another long ball on the break which wasn’t cleared, BA’s left winger got around the full back and fizzed a ball accross the 6 yard box which skidded over various boots and gloves before richoceting off a Sloane shin to make it 4-2. From then on, BA soaked up Sloane pressure and played on the break with long, accurate balls from deep. Goals came largely from a combination of mistakes, but mixed with some good finished from BA who finished the game 7-2 winners. For Sloane, it is back to Burton Court next week where they will look to get back on track after a difficult few weeks. British Airways 7 - 2 Sloane Fc Scoreres: Russ Pickett, Reece Crisp
