I am just a buggo though my story’s seldom told I was found in your Barb salads Minding my poor business, munching leaves like you. I’m innocent Though you scream at me or maybe The AVI, it’s hard to tell sometimes. When I left my home and my family I was no more than a grub And I hitched a ride with strangers To come and see the world and all the lives it shared. Scuttling round, hunting for a loose tortilla Or a shard of peppermint Not a picky eater, I’ll take what I can get Asking only for some veggies Maybe some corn-on-the-cob But I get no such luck Just the same old dust and lint that used to cling to you I do declare there were times when I was so hungry I ate Bates’ Fresh Basil Mhmmm 29
