Hans-Jürgen Ellenberger Hans-Jürgen Ellenberger designed Escript (2003) as a handwriting typeface with fresh, lively forms. Each letter has a slightly different character, yet all fit well together and this lack of concrete rules gives the font a spontaneous feel. Escript is well suited to headlines, smaller texts, and initials when combined with constructed typefaces. Hans-Jürgen Ellenberger was born in 1950. From his early drawings at a German Grammer School, resulted in lots of logos, caricatures, cartoons, sketches, and also various types. He also worked for students’ newspapers and graduated in 1968. Because of a wide interest in natural science he studied Biology and Chemistry at the University of Tübingen. He went on to become a teacher at grammer schools and among others made illustrations for school books. In the early nineties, with the release of the computer, he has since then experimented and worked with digital type design.

Lady Fair (2011) was inspired by handlettering done for advertisement posters for the 1965 film, My Fair Lady. It has a wonderfully childlike and fun feeling to it, as well as evoking 1960s design. Starting with only the letters that appear in the film title, I built a full typeface from this and included many swashes and alternates in the OpenType features. Horror Flick (2009) was also inspired by handlettering on a Film Noir poster called from the 1950s. It has that classic old Hollywood “B” horror movie feel to it. I enjoy the fun tongue-in-cheek attitude towards horror that this font evokes. Jason Walcott was born in Michigan, grew up in New Jersey and now resides in Southern California. He graduated cum laude from Kean College of New Jersey in 1997 with a BFA in Illustration. Having always had an interest in type and design along with his art training, Jason designed his first typeface in spring of 2000. Walcott’s fonts were originally sold under the name JAW Fonts until he partnered with Veer in the spring of 2003. At that time the font library was relaunched as Jukebox.
