Yarımadanın ucunda kalan tepe, Ceneviz Dönemi'nden kalan yüksek surlarla çevrili. Surların inşasında, daha önceki uygarlıklara ait mermer devşirme parçalar da kullanılmış.1460 yılında, Fatih Sultan Mehmed'i muhteşem manzarasıyla büyüleyen Amasra, Fatih'in tanımlamasıyla "Dünyanın Gözü” olarak anılmaya devam ediyor. Amasra'yı fethe gelip kenti görünce, yanında bulunan lalası Ak Şemsettin'e dönerek “ Lala, çeşm-i cihan bu mu ola?” diyen Fatih'in bu tanımlaması adeta kentin ikinci adı olmuş.

almost every house here, where the highest quality yachts in Turkey are said to be built. But the most interesting settlement o f ali along this road is definitely Gideros Bay near Cide. This cove, with its narrovv entrance, is especially wellsheltered. A tiny village with ju s t a handful o f houses adds color to Gideros. From Cide to inebolu, the road snakes through a sea o f green trees. After İnebolu, the village o f Beldeğirmen attached to Bozkurt makes a pleasant stop. A restaurant here in the shade o f a stately, 700year-old plane tree along the shore where boats are moored is attractive more for its setting than its food.
