On Saturday, September 3rd, I woke up at 7 in the morning to prepare for a meaningful day with my favorite service event of Key Club, Food Bank. After putting on sunscreen and refilling my water bottle, I was ready to serve my community. It was only the second time I volunteer for the food distribution but I already felt connected and enjoyed the event, despite the 90-degree or higher weather I was working with people I already know from Savanna so the experience was really fun and relaxing. We were helping with the produce station where we distributed a small box of produce with a watermelon for every ticket that families had. It was funny when one of us pointed out the difference in the size of watermelons. Some of them were bigger than my head while one of them was as small as my fist But I really appreciate the effort and dedication of people from the Saddleback Church in helping families with the necessities they needed. The event ended early because we distributed the food to all people there. But there was still a lot of food and produce left. Thus, some volunteers were able to bring some goods home as an appreciation of their service on a hot summer day :) Although the weather was boiling, especially when I was wearing a long sleeve, and the three hours shift was a little exhausting, I think it was worth it as I witnessed the happiness of people that came and received so many blessings from them. Food Bank will always be my favorite service event!
