The Saint Jo Riding Club was organized by Weldon Dennis in 1957, with the first Saint Jo Rodeo held in 1958. This bold and enthusiastic venture, which most people would hesitate to begin, has been an annual Saint Jo “tradition” now for 64 years. The first President was Weldon Dennis; Vice President was Charles Dennis; Secretary/Treasurer was Starr Mann; and Bobby Tuggle (Noah Pitman's granddaughter) was the first Sweetheart. During their first year the Saint Jo Riding Club participated in many parades, but only brought home one 3rd place trophy. Mack Thweatt was the next President in those early years of getting the club organized. He was followed by F. C. Galmor, who served for two years as President. For that first rodeo, the crowd sat and watched from the hillside. Much progress took place from the very beginning, and in 1960, the first rodeo arena was built. Throughout the years, the entire Saint Jo community and the surrounding areas have cooperated in enlarging and improving the present Saint Jo Riding Club Arena and all of its facilities. In the early years, a concession stand was added but it was 1987 before city water was run down to the arena. In July of 1998, the concrete pavilion was added around the concession stand. This rodeo arena stands as a symbol to the loyalty, good will, hard work, dedication and community spirit that existed then and continues on today. The Saint Jo Riding Club has earned hundreds of trophies through the years. You can sees our rodeo legacy and our rich history by visiting the Historic Saint Jo Square. Some of these trophies, awards, and memorabilia are displayed at The Museum of the Stonewall Saloon and at Trailtown Treasures. O. K. (Kurz) Williams followed Galmor as Riding Club President and served as President from 1962 until 1975. Craig Lawson served as President from 1976 to 1984. Charles Dennis was President from 1985 to 1994. Eli Casey was elected as President for 1995 and 1996. In 1997, Charles Dennis was again elected as President and served until 2003. Ancil Thurman was President from 2003 to 2007. Eli Casey was elected as President from 2007 to 2011. Nancee Turlington was elected and served from 2011 to 2013. Randall Flusche was President from 2013-2015 followed by Sarah Hess from 2015 to 2020. The current President of the Saint Jo Riding Club is Janette Yosten Hess.

The success of our organization is made possible by the continued support of YOU, our community, our neighbors, and our sponsors. We take great pride in awarding local high school seniors academic scholarships. We award more money than any other riding club in our area. We want to preserve the sport of rodeo as well as encourage others to give back. We truly appreciate your support, whether it’s donations, sponsorship or admittance to our rodeo performances. We want you to know that your money is truly helping others. Thank you!

Hello, Saint Jo and Montague county! We are a full-service salon here in Saint Jo, Texas. We offer top-notch luxury services that are unmatched by anything happening outside of Dallas and Oklahoma City. It’s all about the experience! We love our guests and love to make it all about you when you visit us. We are a commission-based salon vs. a booth rental salon. Each stylist rents their own space with booth rental and runs their own business within a business. There are benefits to both, but with the commission model, your potential is more significant to make a good living, work with a team, and have a fantastic work/ life balance. Each stylist can also do well in a booth rental salon, but it is up to that stylist to do their marketing, ordering, inventory, taxes, client communications, and all the things that go with running a business. We are commissioned and have a team culture that continues in education and training, so we are ahead of the game on trends, techniques, and service offerings. We all work together to ensure you have the best experience possible, with more than one person helping you through your services. We are looking to grow our team so if you know of anyone that would be interested in a career with us, send them our way! Salon hair provides career paths for new stylists, estheticians, and nail technicians by starting them in our associate program. It works like a master’s program out of cosmetology school, taking you from a first-year stylist to a third-year stylist in 46months. Our team is more like family; everyone visiting loves the fun, relaxing atmosphere and all the attention they get. We are known for our toe-curling shampoo, including a head and neck massage and a steamed towel. We sell Kerastase, a high-end luxury product line for your hair and scalp. We also have Jane Iredale makeup that is also high-end and a super clean cosmetic line. It heals the skin, and dermatologists prefer it! We have a makeup artist from Jane that visits once a month to offer complimentary makeup applications so you can experience the line. Our service menu includes everything hair, extensions, Brazilian Blowout, brow services, full body waxing, bridal hair, formal styles, fades, and beards. We offer lattes, coffee, tea, champagne, wine, mimosas, and sparkling water. Looking forward to adding more retail, nail, massage, and skin services!
