My name is Rocky Roberts. I was nominated to be the Grand Marshal for the 2016 Saint Jo Rodeo and Parade. It is an honor to accept this position. Saint Jo, Texas has been my hometown all my life. I was born on October 8, 1984 to Bob and Sharon Roberts. I attended Saint Jo I.S.D. all 13 years of my school career. After graduating Saint Jo High School in 2003, I enrolled and attended NCTC College in Gainesville, Texas taking Farm and Ranch management classes and stayed in college until 2006. As the year 2006 approached, my life had many changes. I got my first full time job at Weber Aircraft. Today I am still an employee of the same company. I also got a position helping a small Baptist Church in Callisburg with their youth group. Today I am still attending the same church and now leading their music. In 2008 I joined the Saint Jo Riding Club. In 2009 I became the Parade Marshall for the club. Ever since I took that position, I have been able to take the club to rodeos and parades that we had not attended in many years including Fort Worth Stock Show Parade. Fort Worth is the biggest and most enjoyable parade we attend. On July 16, 2011 I married Kristen. It has been a great 4 ½ years together and looking forward to more years ahead. I enjoy being a part of the Saint Jo Riding Club and other community events. I want to thank everyone for allowing me to be an active citizen of this community. May God Bless each of you!

The Saint Jo Riding Club and Rednecks with Paychecks take great pride in announcing that the 59 th Annual Saint Jo Rodeo is Dedicated to our Miltary Veterans. We honor all of those men and women -whose service to our country and whose sacrifices- have given us the freedoms we enjoy today. The Saint Jo Riding Club was organized by Weldon Dennis in 1957. This bold and Enthusiastic venture, which most people would hesitate to begin, has been quite fruitful. Charles Dennis was the first vice president, Starr Mann was secretary & treasurer and Bobby Tuggle, Noah Pitman’s granddaughter, was the first sweetheart. During the first year, the Saint Jo Riding Club won only third place in the parade competition. Mack Thweatt was the next president, in these trying years of getting started, and was followed by F.C. Galmor who served two years. Much progress had taken place from the very beginning, and in 1960, the first rodeo arena was built. The crowd sat on the hillside during the first rodeo, and then came the strong desire for better facilities. The entire citizenship of Saint Jo and surrounding area have cooperated in enlarging and improving the present Riding Club Arena and all its facilities. This lovely amusement spot symbolizes loyalty, good will, hard work, and community spirit of the Saint Jo Area. The Club has over 200 trophies to its honor. Some of these trophies are displayed at area local businesses in Saint Jo. Please visit our rodeo legacy and our rich history at Trailtown Treasures on the Square or the Stonewall Saloon. The Riding Club, through strong cooperation, has enjoyed many successful years. They now have their adequate arena, with a concrete pavilion. In 1987, the Club improved the facilities even more by running city water to the arena. O.K. Williams had served as president 1962 till 1975. Craig Lawson served as president from 1976 to 1984. Charles Dennis served as president from 1985 through 1994. Eli Casey was elected president for 1995 and 1996. Charles Dennis was again elected president from 1997 till 2003. Ancil Thurman was elected president 2003 - 2007. Eli Casey was elected president in 2007-2011. Nancee Turlington was elected in 2011-2013. Randall Flusche was elected in 2013-2015. Our current president is Sarah Hess.

The success of our organization is made possible by the continued support of YOU, our community, our neighbors, and our sponsors. We take great pride in awarding local high school seniors academic scholarships. We award more money than any other riding club in our area. We are non-profit, we donate your money back to our community organizations. In 2015, we gave back over $10,000 in scholarship funds and donations to our surrounding communities. We want to preserve the sport of rodeo as well as encourage others to give back. We truly appreciate your support, whether it’s donations, sponsorship or admittance to our rodeo performances. We want you to know that your money is truly helping others. Thank you!
