Mayor's Welcome Dear Fellow South Jordan Neighbors:

or generations our community has gathered for the annual Country Fest Celebration, with festivities planned for Thursday, June 4th, Friday, June 5th and Saturday, June 6th. Please, take a moment to browse through this guide for an event(s) that suits you and your family. Let me take a minute to share with you what I love about our City and about Country Fest.

E

ven though we’ve grown, South Jordan still maintains that small town feel – where neighbors sit on porches and chat, and friends stop by to help when there is a need. It’s the people that make South Jordan a great place to live. It’s the volunteer coaches and crossing guards; it’s the friendly folks at the store, and the kids playing at the park that makes this home feel a little more timeless.

S

outh Jordan’s people will always be our greatest asset. Country Fest started as a celebration of the harvest heritage of this area. It was a chance to remember the good old days of yesteryear and to give thanks for all we enjoy. As neighbors we have much to be thankful for. From the police and firefighters who keep use safe, to the road crews who work in heat and snow to help us get around, to the folks who clean our parks. This is why we have Country Fest – to celebrate the neighbors and friends who make South Jordan a little better every day.

Country Fest Parade Presented By Saturday, June 6 9:00 AM 2200 W thru City Park to Towne Center

J

oin us on beautiful Towne Center Drive, for the traditional Country Fest Parade. The parade staging area will be located in the Salt Lake County Equestrian dirt lot. The route will begin on 2200 W and Park Road (the North West entrance to City Park) and go down Park Road, around the Softball fields, to the South along the Skate Park and then turn North on Redwood Road, ending with a final turn onto Towne Center Drive. Everyone is invited, so bring your camp chairs and honor our American Flag, watch the amazingly crafted floats, talented bands and collect candy from the emergency vehicles. You can, also, enjoy a tasty Village Inn Breakfast being served from Fire Station # 61 right on Redwood Road.

Grand Marshal Grand Marshal: Joseph Richard Clegg

J

oey Clegg has lived in South Jordan for 59 years. He married Tanya Clegg in 1977. They have 5 children and 7 grandchildren, with 3 new little ones to be added late summer. He served a LDS mission to Scotland and served in Vietnam in the Army. He graduated from BYU in 1969 and obtained his architects license in 1983. He has been a principle in CD Architects PC since 1983. In 2003 he received the Utah Heritage Foundation’s Heritage Award for work on the historic Shenk - Bringhurst Residence in Springville, Utah and has helped with several projects in South Jordan including the Veteran’s Memorial, Bus Accident Memorial, Birthplace of South Jordan Monument, Gale Center of History & Culture’s Grainery and Dugout, Holt Farmstead and plaques on several historical homes. He enjoys architecture and has visited most of Frank Lloyd Wrights’ work. He also enjoys family, gardening, and antique cars. He currently serves on the South Jordan Historical Committee and feels this and his military service is partial payment for the privilege of living in this great land.
