Grazie alla sua posizione strategica e panoramica, la Fortezza del Volterraio è uno dei siti più suggestivi dell’isola d’Elba. With its strategic, panoramic position, the Volterraio Fortress is one of the island of Elba’s most beautiful locations.

Restaurata negli ultimi anni dal Parco Nazionale Arcipelago Toscano, la Fortezza del Volterraio oggi è di nuovo visitabile. La fortezza svetta dai suoi 395 metri s.l.m. incastonata nella roccia da cui emerge come per incanto. Il panorama unico permette di ammirare dall’alto la parte centrale dell’isola con le morbide colline, gli ampi golfi meridionali e la morfologia del golfo di Portoferraio, ma anche la selvaggia isola di Capraia e la Corsica.

Restored by the Tuscan Archipelago National Park in the last few years, the Volterraio Fortress is now once more open to visitors. The fortress stands 395 metres above the sea, appearing to emerge from the solid rock as if by magic. From its summit, there is a unique view of the central part of the island, with the gentle hills, the large gulfs on the southern coast and the form of the gulf of Portoferraio, as well as the wild island of Capraia and Corsica.
