This survey delves into the realm of food policies within various workplaces, shedding light on the diverse approaches adopted by organizations to address this crucial aspect of their operations. With almost every participating organization reporting the implementation of various amenity policies, it’s evident that managing company policy and meeting customer expectations can pose significant challenges. Often, the responsibility falls on client liaisons to spearhead efforts in ensuring smooth operations and adherence to safety protocols, particularly concerning specific policies surrounding amenities.

RESULTS SUMMARY

As stated in the top five responses, 94% of the responders have amenity policies in place at their locations. Some of the policies include catering policies such as allowable use of catering, a set dollar amount permitted depending on the meal, the use of off premise caters for both general caters and specialty caterers. We also dive into leftover meal donation policy, bringing food away from the event and back to an office, executive dining room policy, fitness center, and even how potluck meals are viewed at your organizations.

Regarding the catering policies 69% of the responders allow catering for both client and non-client attended meetings. Sixtythree percent of the responders do not have any dollar limit per person as to what can be spent on their catering. 56% of the responders allow external caterers on site and this grows to 63% when asked if they allow specialty caters on site such as Pizza, Thai Food or BBQ. Thirty-eight percent of responders have their on-site food service provider manage the external caterer.

Regarding food donations, the handling of leftovers and how a company views potluck meals, 44% of responders donate to a local food kitchen or charitable organization.

Fifty percent of responders allow admins or meeting attendees to take food back to their workspace or pantry and 38% do not allow potluck meals on-site. The responders stated 19% allow potluck meals.

For employees working late at night, 38% allow a free meal. Out of the 38%, 31% allow ordering the meal from external

restaurants. The dollar amount permitted for the late-night free meal was $15-$34 for 50% of responders and $35-$49 for 13%.

Of the responders that have executive/ client dining rooms, 56% of them do not have any policy regarding dollar amounts, or if clients need to be in attendance.

For the responders that have an on-site fitness center, 63% have policies in place such as a sliding scale dollar amount for the membership fee, various membership levels, full time employees only policy and requiring a signed waiver to sign prior to joining.

Regarding having executive leadership support and the overall feeling of amenity policy at your organizations 19% of responders have a tough time getting leadership support; 44% are neutral on this and 25% answered not difficult. Overall, regarding amenity policies, the average landed at a 3.3 on a scale of 1-5 with 5 being the most favorable.

ƒ We are downtown, so food competition is surrounding us. We try to offer great products and services to keep people in, but do not “force” staff to use only our in-house services. We may be looking to expand amenities, adding dry cleaning and a central location for services, such as IT devices.
