Waterfall “I’m inspired by the game itself. The beauty of it – the trees and the water looks amazing. I love to include water in my photography, both in-game and in real life. “ “When taking scenery photographs, I rarely think of composition, but move the camera around until I find a good angle.” “With World Adventures, EA gave us lots of beautiful scenery to explore - sweep down rivers and hills to look for interesting scenery.”

C.M.Pye is known for her unique creativity. She has a different way of looking at things that allows her to find wildly fun and sometimes bizarre snapshots in an otherwise ordinary sims universe.

On Abstract… with C.M.Pye “Position the camera lens from a pet or baby's point of view and the same old things will look differently when you shoot them.”

Fish Eye View

“Zoom as far as the camera lets you and then push it past that point just to see what it looks like.”

“I like the eventual distortion that occurs from excessive zooming in and out with the plus and minus keys as well as the Z and X keys.”

Starry Night

“ Use cameraman mode to position yourself in extreme, unusual angles and weird vantage points and see what you see there. “

king great photos of Sims will take you places as a Simtographer. Some of e best of these are seen in photo stories and legacy blogs and especially in e many modeling challenges. Photo shop artists are also creating fantastic nd unique items out of the photos of their sims. Let your imagination and creativity run wild. American Classic updated by Meestor Mark

On Modeling...with AsiaShaMecca I use chaos mod a lot for posing but it's also important to know what poses there are in the game. Spend some time watching the Sims in action to see what poses can be captured.

Flirty

I think the most overlooked element in pictures that I see is lighting. A foot-light like the mini-spotlight in outdoor lighting can be placed anywhere off camera and really set a mood.

Pretty Face I don't do very much "Photoshopping." I try too stay in game as much as possible and use lighting and sets to set the mood I want. MOO (moveobjects on) is probably the best trick in my arsenal. Catch the sim doing what I need and position them after.

“I love when I have to look at a picture a few times before I notice all of the little details in the background”

On Dramatic Effect… with Evie

"Anything and everything inspires me. If I see something visually appealing, I automatically think about how I can re-create it in Sims with my own twist." "Detail and a good angle are the two most important things"

"With editing, a little can go a long way. Just a few adjustments of lighting can really bring a picture to life. Though, there are some occasions where a lot of editing can leave the viewer wide eyed and inspired."

Edited Sims photos by far made up the largest category of photos submitted for the Shutterbugs Showcase. The editing we see varies from the most subtle adjustment of lighting to the most obvious where the Sims are found in places that no Sims has gone before.

“Be adventurous! Try crazy angles and don't feel that you always need everything in a shot. You can get some cool effects with objects or sims in foreground.”

On Subtle Editing… with Berry

“Less is more. Using a soft lighting filter to brighten and add depth and shadow really goes a long way.”

“Most of the time screenshots come out a little dark, so it never hurts to brighten them up a bit to make them pop.”

On Photoshopping‌ with Evergreen Sometimes we like to really bring our Sims to life by introducing them to the REAL world.

Using an image editor like Photoshop means no boundaries to where your Sims can go. Bring them with you to the beach, the mountains or outer space. Be creative.

Gnome Salad by KarinL

Just for the fun of it or pre-planned and staged Sims photos have plenty of humorous moments. Gnomes do the strangest things and these odd little fellows are often the cause of a good Sims chuckle. You’ve gotta love the facial expressions and body language build in to our Sims awkward moments. Those poor sims and the torment we put them through just for a laugh at their expense.

Help? by JMelo

“Move the object that your model is looking at around to change the direction and tilt of their head for creating even more unique poses.”

On Simtography Tricks... with JMelo “Backgrounds set the scene and mood of your photos, so take time and care when staging them.” “Get inspired by looking through cc sites and your own inventory to find that one special object or set that ignites your flame of creativity.” “Use the buyDebug cheat to find invisible lighting to avoid having a beautiful photo ruined by a poorly hidden lamp.”

JMelo’s model Brody recently won the Strike a Pose modeling competition. Many of her highest scoring photos used some fantastic tricks that had the judges believing that she had used editing, which was forbidden for this competition. Alas… contrary to popular belief, it IS possible to create spectacular Sims model photos with nothing but your own creativity.
