Letter from the

Editor

Minraed Arzhel There is always so much happening at Simatography that we wanted to share more than just SIFF updates in our magazines with this issue we explore an expanded format that includes a taste of the many other exciting happenings at the Simatography site. We have put together this autumn issue with a dark, macabre theme that suits the season with Halloween coming, but will be of interest anytime as horror, apocalypse, gothic and macabre themes are always popular. You will notice a special SIFF insert as well - which will also be published separately - where you will find the announcements of the SIFF winners as well as some special SIFF features. If you enjoy the magazine, be sure to drop by at our website and get to know us. You’ll find tutorials, inspiration, challenges, and a supportive community that will help you create the very best machinima, photos and stories possible.

Storywriter - Seaweedy Don’t miss this beautiful and touching short story with a nostalgic Film Noir feel. A heart-tugging story that also showcases some beautifully creative photos. Black and white photos , interesting camera angles, convincing set design and costumes all working together to create a truly vintage feel. A unique approach for a Sims story, and an enjoyable read for this first ever round of SILC To read these stories and more be sure to visit www.officialsilc.webs.com/bibliography

Be sure to read this funny little story featuring some of the staff you know and love from Simatography. A sweet dream, or a horrible nightmare? It all depends on your perspective. The story was written especially for SILC as a show of support. I hope that SILC will see even more great storywriters participating in future rounds.

Featured Simtographer When deciding who to showcase for this issue we could not resist Gordana’s Gothic Beauty photo album for obvious reasons. She has a flair for the fashionable and sensual side of the Gothic theme.

“Goth means many different things to many different people...to me: Goth is beauty. Those that are Goth are tender, sensitive, passionate , courageous. Goth is choosing life when death is a seductively tempting option. “

We are always looking for ways to showcase the talents of our members.

We looked through the entire collection of amazing photographs in our member’s photo gallery at Simatography and selected a few examples of the use of goth and horror themes.

Warning The photos on the next page are the scariest of the bunch, so view at your own risk.

Special Recognition The new Special Recognition Awards were created because the SIFF team felt that while not all films would win awards, many were well worthy of being recognized for the efforts and skills that they displayed. After much debate we are excited to be awarding the following machinima makers for their exceptional efforts.

Outstanding Voice Editing Nittens, for Moment, Titus Linde for All I Need, Anches for Nero’sTransformation

Excellence in Editing and Effects Nittens, Charismatic, StrangeVictoria, Gabecexx, SSProductions, AAshley, Veritas, Anches

Exceptional Costume Design CatKetty for Aurora

Distinguished Set Designs Anches for Nero’s Transformation, Eziopeep for Frozen, Hikari for Pure Imagination, AAshley for The Music Box

The SIFF Artistic Directors look forward to participating in SIFF along with everyone else and we are told that the fans want our films included so that they can vote for us, but because we worried that there might be an unfair advantage or bias we have decided to only compete against each other. This year we had two fabulous staff submissions.

The Priest by SS Productions The Priest contains over 30 custom animations that I created. I often wonder if I'm insane for doing this but I like a challenge. My ship often sails far from the shores of normality and and of course, sanity. All aboard me mateys.

I started this film 2 days after SIFF Spring 2011 ended. I am still trying to figure out why it took me up until 2 days before Fall 2011 SIFF started to complete it...where did the time go??? At least I kept everyone in suspense for a long time...and not just with the film ending.
