Spring Hill VS. woodlawn The Bears traveled to Woodlawn and took care of business. Three of our bears had over 100 yards each. TJ Tipton, running back, had 217 yards and 5 touchdowns. QB, Jaxon Smith had 217 yards and a 2 point conversion against Woodlawn. Which lead the bears to get a win 46-30. *Sport Pictures On Page 12

In 1933 the deer season only lasted five days due to the low population of whitetail deer The heaviest white-tail deer ever killed was 540 LB and after being field dressed he was still 431 POUNDS! The students at Spring Hills' favorite thing about November is Thanksgiving, spending time with family, and hunting.

Thanksgiving in 1621 was 3 days long.

Most Spring Hill kids said they use Thanksgiving break for resting, relaxing, or hunting.

Truck Of The Hill

This week on the Truck of the Hill we have Peyton Bain’s black Chevy riding on black chrome 33 rims. He’s always driving around with his buddies and playing loud music.

Whatley Words of Wisdom:

"Give thanks not just on Thanksgiving Day, but every day of your life. Appreciate and never take for granted all that you have." For me, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday!!! It is a time to stop and spend time around a table with family and friends, you know, like they did in the good old days quite often when there were no cell phones, internet, TV, etc. It was a time for family. Does anyone watch Little House on the Prairie?

FCCLA Hayride On Thursday, November 2nd our FCCLA members hosted a Haunted Hayride with the help of the Spring Hill Volunteer Fire Department.

Principal’s Corner:

Hello again. We are in full swing during our 2nd 9 weeks of the 1st semester. I want to brag on our students and how well everyone is doing in their classes and activities. We have students involved in every aspect of school, clubs, organizations, athletics, and many more things. It is always great seeing our students succeed.

Thanksgiving break is fast approaching and students and teachers need that time of rest and be able to reminisce on things to be thankful for. Basketball season has tipped off and football is in the playoffs. Come out and support your Spring Hill Bears. It is an honor and privilege to serve you as your building level administrator. It is great being a Bear!!!

Hash Brown Casserole Ingredients: One and a half bags of shredded hash browns Two cans of cream of mushroom soup 1 Large container of sour cream 3 cups of Cheddar cheese Salt and pepper Ritz crackers crushed up 3 tablespoons of butter melted How to make: Preheat the oven to 380 degrees. In a large bowl add your shredded hash browns, cream of mushroom soups, sour cream, cheddar cheese, and salt and pepper to your liking. Mix this well. Oil a 9x13 casserole dish and put the mixture into making sure to evenly spread. Place into the oven for 50 minutes, covered. After the 50 minutes are up, spread your melted butter over the top.

Next, take your crushed ritz crackers and spread them over the top. Place this back into the oven uncovered until the top is golden brown. Take out and enjoy.

New To The Crew

I have taught for four years, which was second, kindergarten, 3rd and 4th-grade literacy. My favorite is 3rd and 4th! Before I became a teacher I was a kindergarten paraprofessional at Spring Hill. The first time I walked into the school it was an instant feeling of a "close-knit" family! Everyone welcomed me with open arms and made me feel included; I've never forgotten that feeling! It's not so hard to come to work every day when you work with genuine people who create a fun learning atmosphere. There's nowhere else I'd rather be teaching, than Spring Hill Elementary! This year has been special because, for the first time, I get to go to school every day with my boys! Being at the same school makes things so much easier; it's also a lot of fun teaching where they attend and being involved with their school activities Literacy is my favorite! You learn to write better by reading and you learn to read better by writing. Both, reading and writing, go hand in hand working together to improve your ability to think! I wanted to come back to my place where I felt at home. I used to go here but left. The on;y thing I miss is playing volleyball in my free time. I went to Emerson, Arkansas before coming back to Spring Hill. I like the people, the teachers, and sports, all the things I missed.

Yes, I have 2 siblings. What makes Spring Hill better is the environment and I feel like I am home again. My plans for after school is to go to college and become a nurse.

Club Updates -FCCLA has released their annual Disguise A Turkey for Elementary and High Schools to raise money. (Entry fee is $1) -FCCLA STAR Events competition will be held on November 14th at Hempstead Hall.

-TSA will have its state convention on November 14th.

In The Spotlight

Alison Green

Mrs. Alison Green is an amazing janitor here at Spring Hill High School, this year will be her second year of working here. Mrs. Green found out about a job opening here by one of her friends. She applied for a cafeteria worker position (dishwasher), she then later got a call that a janitor spot opened up and she took it! She decided to work here because her kids go to school here as well. Mrs. Green has 4 children; Christina is 21 now, Jake who is 16, Natalie who is 12 and Kaylee who is 11 years old. Her husband passed away 2 years ago due to double pneumonia and COVID-19. She misses him dearly every day. Her coworkers are one of her favorite things about Spring Hill, she has built many friendships over the past 2 years. Mrs. Green also likes that Spring Hill is one of the only schools that she knows of that still do the pledge, national anthem, and prayer in the morning. Mrs. Green loves that God is so involved and she is so proud of what's going on at Spring Hill. Mrs. Alison Green loves the Lord and she will continue to serve him for the rest of her life. She loves her family and friends, she enjoys making crafts, hunting, fishing, baking, and being silly with her kids.

Writers Block

Corbin Overton Corbin decided to take this class because “it's pretty easy.”

Corbin does the sports article because it's easy. His favorite part of his role is talking to Coach Smith. In his free time, Corbin likes to hunt outside of school. He has been in Journalism for 3 months and he does not plan on taking it after this year. If Corbin could have another role it would be to not do anything.

I don’t know about going to college yet, but possibly going to trade school to be an electrician. My goals for this year are to win state in football and baseball and make as many memories as possible.

My future occupation is to be an electrician or wildlife biologist. I think that the underclassmen need to know that being yourself and enjoying every day like it's your last is important because you never know when your last day will be. I came to this school in the 8th grade and it has had some ups and downs, but I would never change it for the world, especially all the friends and family that this school has put in my life. I play football, baseball and I am in FCA. My favorite memory at this school is when we had football boot camp. For a whole week, I got to spend time with my football coaches and team and I will never forget it.

Jarett Cox is a senior at Spring Hill High School. He plans on going to college at OBU. His biggest goal for this year is to graduate with a 4.0 GPA. His future occupation consists of a job that will “Make him lots of bread”. He will miss being silly with the bros. His advice for underclassmen is to “ Do your work and make good grades' '. He has attended Spring Hill since kindergarten.

Outside of school he enjoys his truck and playing basketball. His favorite memory at Spring hill was “Whenever we were in Plylers class cutting up wood, I squirted mustard on one of the boards and Plyler grabbed it and got it in his hands”.

h T e d T n o u w o r n A On November 15, 2023, from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm, Check out the STEM Event as they build the next generation of women in STEM at NSA. If you join their team, you’ll have a built-in support system created by mentors, networking opportunities, team-building activities, and employee resource groups. NSA HQ is located in Fort G, Meade, Maryland. There are multiple other HQ’s around the world like the one in Colorado, Hawaii, Georgia, and Texas.

Movie Review Mean Girls A comedy film starring Lindsey Lohan as Cady Heron, Racheal McAdams as Regina George, Amanda Seyfried as Karen Smith, and Lacey Chabert as Gretchen Wieners. Cady is a new student at North Shore High School. She isn’t liked at first but finds Janis and Damian to be her new friends. Then she is pulled into the friend group “The Plastics”, a group of stuck-up rich girls. When Janis finds out she is talking to them she asks her to stay and find out information but that all backfires when she starts becoming one of them herself.
