Senior When you consider the Ephrata High School rifle team, one name should stand out. This student was an All Star in the Lancaster-Lebanon Rifle League during her junior year of high school, a feat which she considers one of her proudest accomplishments, and this coming winter will mark her fourth year as a member of the EHS rifle team. Hopefully, the name Katie Rathman rings a bell since this outgoing senior has accomplished all this and more. Katie currently is employed at Keystone Villa Retirement Community, where she first began working as a server several years ago but now helps to manage and prepare the meals. She was a girl scout from first grade until her junior year of high school, when school and work commitments made it difficult to continue. Although she seems constantly busy, Katie enjoys reading, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family in her free time. Katie Rathman has achieved quite a lot in the past four years at Ephrata High School, and she won’t halt her ambition any time soon. Planning to major in math and special education, Katie has already been accepted to Millersville University, and she hopes to become a middle-school teacher. As an instructor, Katie will have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of many children and in the world around her. As of now, Katie wishes she could change the issue of racism in America, which remains a problem in modern society. “I think everyone is equal,” remarks Katie. “It’s not as bad as it used to be, but racism is still there.” With her contagious smile and hardworking attitude, Katie Rathman is making this world a better place, and it’s obvious great things are in store for this dedicated and compassionate student.

Aidan Sommers 8th Grade Aidan Sommers is an eighth grade student at Lititz Area Mennonite School. He is 13 years old. He lives with his parents Denver and Rose Sommers, and his three brothers Elliot, Ethan, and Isaac. He also has a golden retriever named Molly. His favorite things about school are getting to know everyone and being around his friends. His favorite academic class is Science because he enjoys the projects and experiments. Aidan also participates in soccer, basketball, drama, and student council. After graduating from LAMS he plans to attend Lancaster Mennonite High School. Some of the things Aidan likes to do in his spare time include reading, listening to music, talking with friends, and playing piano. Aidan is a member of Mellinger Mennonite Church. If he could change one thing in the world it would be to get rid of ISIS and stop wars in the Middle East. One of Aidan’s greatest accomplishments is scoring a goal on a corner kick at one of his soccer games. Two people Aidan admires are his dad, because he is awesome and is always there for him, and his cousin Logan, because he is good at soccer and is very nice.
