BELLEAIR - The Belleair Town Commission is pondering an offer made by a local family to purchase the Belleview Biltmore Golf Club.

While details are somewhat sketchy at this point, Town Manager Micah Maxwell did confirm that the Doyle family, Belleair residents and the owners of Dex Imaging, have made an offer

Biltmore Hotel property, from building homes on the site.

The issue at hand with any sale of the golf club property involves future development on the site. The commission is adamant that development restrictions must be in place before a deal is struck.

However, an attorney for the Doyles stated that it is not the family’s desire to

to purchase the golf club for $3.4 million.

The Town of Belleair purchased the property over three years ago for $3.5 million, in order to prevent the previous owners, who also owned the Belleview

The Doyle family’s intention is for it to remain a golf club, and they believe the revenue from the sale of the property could be used on other projects that would benefit the residents of Belleair.

SEMINOLE - Seminole is preparing to play host to the city’s oldest event: the annual Pow Wow Festival and Parade, to be held March 11-13, with the parade starting at 10:00 a.m. on March 12. The Pow Wow Festival will be held all three days at the Holland G. Mangum Recreation Center, located at 9100 113th St. N. The ongoing construction at the former Seminole Mall location has caused some changes to this year’s parade route. Parade participants will now line up in the parking lot of St. Petersburg College’s Seminole location on 113th Street and travel south to 86th Avenue, where they will turn around and head back north.

If you want to participate in the parade, you must register

by March 2. A mandatory meeting for parade participants will be held March 7.

Seminole’s annual State of the City address SEMINOLE - It’s pretty much blue skies and sunshine in Seminole, according to Mayor Leslie Waters’ annual State of the City report.

Thanks to several new real estate developments in the city, including the Enclave at Lake Seminole and the Texas Roadhouse, the ad valorem tax revenue for the city is projected to increase by nearly 10 percent, while the city is still able to boast one of the lowest property tax rates in the county.

The mayor also cited the renovations to City Hall, the city’s many festivals and concerts, and the redevelopment of the former Seminole Mall as accomplishments for the city.

The arrests were made during a five-day operation that sought out individuals who chat with “minors” online for the purpose of meeting and engaging in sexual activity.

LARGO - Late last month, detectives with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office conducted a sting operation called “Operation Wayfarer” in order to catch individuals who were trying to meet with minors to have sex.

The operation resulted in the arrest of 15 suspects, one of whom is a nurse at a local hospital. Another suspect, who was arrested for traveling to meet a minor, said he drove over three hours, from Lake Worth, to the area.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, through the course of the five-day operation, investigators, or "chatters," posing as minors went on various websites, including online classified pages, social media sites and various chat rooms. During their online engagement, investigators established rapport with the subjects and developed scenarios in which the individuals arranged to meet with the "minor" for the purpose of sexual activity.

Two Cousins Pizzeria You gotta love those guys.

hatever you do, and I mean, whatever you do, don't judge a restaurant by its exterior. Wait, it's don't judge a book by its cover, but you get my point. What do I mean? In our lovely area, finding great restaurants in some of our seedier strip centers is not uncommon. I'm opening one myself in just that. It is what it is.

So on that note, you have to go to Two Cousins Pizzeria on Seminole Boulevard. I know the owners, not as friends, but as the former owners of Europa Restaurant on Indian Rocks Road. Very nice people, but again, we are not friends, so I'm not covering their restaurant out of loyalty. If you knew me, you'd know I wouldn't do such a thing. Instead, I'm featuring their restaurant because it's so damn good.

I am extremely picky about food in general, but also about the ambiance of a place. Is it warm and cozy? I mean, let's face it, who doesn't love a cozy Italian restaurant with damn good food? So

on a beautiful, sunny afternoon, I wandered over to Two Cousins Pizzeria in Seminole and stopped in for lunch. My server, Claudia, was awesome. She was quick, competent and efficient.

May I please have a soda? Boom, there's my soda.

For lunch, I ordered a small cheese pizza. Let's face it. Every good Italian restaurant better know how to make a great pizza. Am I right?

The restaurant was not very busy when I was there because I purposely came after the typical lunchtime, so I did feel like it took a little long for my food to come out. But in fairness to the chef, he makes everything from scratch and, man, does it ever taste like it.
