Sherborne Qatar is the daughter school of Sherborne in the UK, which was founded in 1550 by King Edward VI.
Shirburnians follow a diverse range of careers at the highest levels and include world leaders, diplomats, politicians, journalists, actors, poets and musicians.
Several members of Qatar’s ruling family attended Sherborne, including the current Emir of Qatar.
The Sherborne Qatar “family of schools” are currently the only overseas schools operated by Sherborne School, Dorset, UK.
The four schools currently consist of: a co-educational Preparatory School for pupils from Pre School to Year 6; a co-educational Junior School for pupils from Reception to Year 6; a co-educational Senior School for pupils from Years 7 – 13; and a Girls’ School with a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) focus for pupils from Pre School to Year 13 (Year 12 opens in September 2023)

The newest school in our family of schools is the Junior School for children aged 4 to 11. It is a coeducational, small, caring school where children are taught the Sherborne WAY
Our new Sherborne WAY, is our unique curriculum that is based on the National Curriculum of England, but further enhanced by our wonderful, caring team of staff, who prepare the children for a lifetime of learning, helping each of them find their brilliance.
It fuses our moral values and learning dispositions, with a refreshed, vibrant and modern take on an engaging, enriching thematic approach, developing the skills children will need to thrive as adults in the 21st century.
At the Junior School we teach the National Curriculum of England, together with the MoEHE’s Arabic, Islamic Studies and Qatar History curricula. Our teachers are British, British trained and with experience of teaching in British schools.
The Junior School has fantastic facilities which include well equipped classrooms, Science and ICT Labs, an Art Room, a Library, Music Rooms, language teaching rooms, a large sports hall, an Astro pitch, an Auditorium, a Dining Room and indoor and outdoor playgrounds.

Sherborne Qatar Preparatory School located in Al Rayyan, is a coeducational school for pupils aged 3 to 11.
At the Prep School, we set your child on an exceptional journey. We believe children learn differently. That’s why we have developed a series of specialist areas to provide memorable learning experiences, which support our belief in the importance of transferable, 21st century skills. Or, as we call them our Learning Dispositions.
These areas which include, a Makerspace, Science Lab, VR Room, ICT Suite, WOW Room, Video Editing Suite, a Recording/ Visual Room and Dance space, help our children discover their brilliance. In these areas they develop their creativity, curiosity, independence, communication, risk-taking & resilience skills. Sherborne Qatar School For Girls aims to be a truly outstanding STEM school preparing girls to be innovative, confident leaders in their chosen field. We offer an education for girls from Pre School to Year 13 with the aim of enabling young ladies to eventually progress to their chosen universities or careers around the world.
As a STEM school we are dedicated to developing the girls’ confidence, self-esteem and leadership skills in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths along with offering all other UK curriculum subjects.
We have the facilities and resources to become a leading school in STEM for girls in Qatar. With 5 Science laboratories, 4 IT Rooms, a Maker Space (a dedicated STEM Room), a Virtual Reality Room (VR), large open plan Art rooms and age appropriate libraries the girls are given every opportunity to develop their STEM education. By offering this enhancement in STEM, alongside all that is offered in a regular British Curriculum, we are providing new learning experiences and the opportunity for girls to find their talents, passions and interests.
A 25m swimming pool, a large sports hall, a dance studio, an astro sports pitch, roof top sports courts, indoor play areas, a drama room, two music rooms (with 6 smaller music practice rooms) and multipurpose halls offer your children the chance to develop sporting and creative talents alongside their academic studies.
Our school is kept purposefully small, with a maximum of 72 girls per year group, as we want to know our pupils and to be able to personally focus on their educational needs and individual development.

SCHOOL FOR GIRLS
Sherborne Senior School located in Grand Zone, is a coeducational school for pupils aged 11 to 18.
The Senior School follows the UK based curriculum in all three key stages taught in the school, using the National Curriculum for England as a guide for Key Stage 3 and the options for i/GCSE and AS/A Levels.
In August 2021 Sherborne Senior School moved to a new, purpose built site at the Grand Zone of the Mall of Qatar. The modern and spacious building is built to the highest of standards and is designed to deliver an outstanding, 21st century education, with small class sizes and age-appropriate facilities. The site boasts 74 classrooms; 12 science labs; ICT and robotics suites; specialist drama, art and music facilities; a 250-seat theatre; a large cafeteria; and, multiple sporting areas, including a 100m running track, two sports halls, a large multi-purpose pitch and a 25m swimming pool.
The site also has multiple, and very attractive, shaded outside recreational areas for pupils to enjoy at break times, along with separate safe areas for physical activities.
Another key area of the Senior School is the Sixth Form Centre that has been designed to help Year 12 and 13 Pupils prepare for top universities and enjoy independent learning. The Sixth Form Centre has a very large common room, a large private study area and six break-out study areas.

SENIOR SCHOOLBeyond the classroom, the Senior School offer an extensive range of over 60 exciting enrichment activities every day of the school week. All pupils can succeed and our enrichment programme, in combination with the other opportunities we offer, is an ideal vehicle for this.
In August 2022 our pupils achieved some fantastic A Level, AS Level and i/GCSE results.
