Huntley shooting probe ongoing Police believe brothers’ deadly altercation was result of argument over living arrangements By CHELSEA McDOUGALL cmcdougall@shawmedia.com HUNTLEY – Police in Huntley are still trying to piece together events that led to the shooting death of 48-year-old Robert Grundei, but

they believe the deadly Memorial Day fight began over living arrangements. Grundei was in Huntley from Coral Springs, Florida, to mourn the loss of his youngest brother, Brian, who drowned earlier this month

in Lake County, authorities said. Robert Grundei and his older brother, 50-year-old Mark, on Monday began arguing over living arrangements. Mark Grundei lived with their 81-year-old mother, Alyce, at 11469 Morning Glory Lane

in Sun City. The house recently had sold, and Robert Grundei was going to live with Alyce, and Mark was going to leave, authorities said. “From what it sounds like there was some sort of argument about that,” Huntley Deputy Police Chief

Michael Klunk said. Police said at least five shots were fired. Robert Grundei was shot in the shoulder and head and later died from his injuries.

By JEFF ENGELHARDT jengelhardt@shawmedia.com CRYSTAL LAKE – Adult-onset diabetes isn’t growing up. It is getting younger. According to a recently released study in the Journal of the American Medical Association, Type 2 diabetes increased by more than 30 percent in children between 2000 and 2009, raising the frequency of the disease to 0.46 per 1,000 children. The study showed more than 20,000 people younger than 20 had Type 2 diabetes.

Type 2 diabetes, which occurs when the body does not make sufficient insulin or becomes resistant to it, has historically been linked to overweight and obese adults. But Dr. Laura Buthod, a pediatrician with Centegra Health System, said she is seeing the dangers that lead to the disease more often and earlier in children. “A third of the children that walk through my office now are overweight or obese,” Buthod said. “And we’re starting to see it more and more in
