As the 2025 NFL regular season continues to unfold, Week 4 brings the Dallas Cowboys together with the Green Bay Packers at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Sunday, Sept. 28. Kickoff airs live on NBC.
The NFL rarely lacks drama, and Week 4 brings one of this season’s most intriguing storylines, marking the first time Micah Parsons will face his former team, the Cowboys, after a stunning offseason trade that sent the premier defender north to Green Bay.
League-wide, Parsons is considered a premier defender, bringing elite production (28 per cent pass-rush win rate, 251 pressures, 310 pass-rush wins since 2021) to a Packers team that finished only sixth in the league last season in both yards and points allowed.
Since his Packers debut in Week 1 where he recorded a sack, Parsons’ immediate impact has already drawn comparisons to the historic signing of Reggie White in 1993, setting expectations for this season sky high.
Green Bay now boasts one of the NFL’s deepest fronts, pairing Parsons with elite edge rusher Rashan Gary, while the secondary is anchored
by
safety Xavier McKinney, who recorded eight interceptions in what was a breakout season for him in 2024.
Meanwhile, for the Dallas Cowboys, the message is simple: replace their former star while trying to find a way to contain him. Against the Packers, the Cowboys will need to rely heavily on their offensive line in order to allow Dak Prescott to find and exploit quick passing lanes.
While Prescott and the Cowboys have remained steady on offense through four weeks, finding ways to generate and disrupt the team’s opposing quarterbacks without Parsons will be closely watched.

in Chicago: ‘Med,’ ‘Fire’ and ‘P.D.’ return to cable this fall
With approximately 2.6 million Americans calling Chicago home, it makes sense that many a television series would decide to place their focus on the home of the Bears, the Cubs and the White Sox. Some of the most popular television to capture the essence of the Windy City, though, must be Dick Wolf’s (“Law & Order”) iconic One Chicago franchise.
Now several years into each of Wolf’s established series, One Chicago returns to NBC as a whole Wednesday, Oct. 1, as “Chicago Med,” “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago P.D.” make their Season 11, Season 14 and Season 13 premieres, respectively.
The franchise, “which spans 36 seasons and 728 episodes ahead of the fall 2025 premieres” (per ScreenRant), first marks its return with the Season 11 premiere of “Chicago Med,” the last series to join the One Chicago franchise (of those still airing). Having first premiered in 2015, the medical drama currently boasts 201 episodes across its 10 seasons and will be adding an additional 21 episodes to its total count this season, albeit without a few fan-favorite characters.
With regard to Season 11, series showrunner Allen MacDonald (“Body of Proof”) says he plans “to take everything a step further but still be on the same path,” as reported by Parade. “I told the writers that in every episode [of Season 10], I want everyone to cry in every episode, and I want everybody to laugh in every episode. I want to continue that emotional torture for the audience as much as I possibly can, but take the characters in different directions.”
A few characters will be missing from the plot, however, as Marlyne Barrett (“The
Wire”), who played Maggie Lockwood; John Earl Jelks (“New Amsterdam”), who played Dr. Dennis Washington; and Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut (“Star Trek: Picard”), who played Dr. Naomi Howard, are confirmed to be written out of the show. While Lockwood reportedly left the series due to “personal reasons,” very little has been reported as to the reason behind the fictional doctors’ departures.
In addition to the staffing changes at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center, much of the character development in Season 11 will fall upon the shoulders of actress Sarah Ramos (“The Bear”), whose character must now parse with the knowledge that she carries the gene for GSS Prion, the degenerative disease that killed her mother.
Another One Chicago series featuring a major life change is “Chicago Fire,” the franchise’s flagship series starring longest-running cast members Taylor Kinney (“The Forest,” 2016) and Christian Stolte (“Law Abiding Citizen,” 2009), airing immediately following “Chicago Med.”
Kinney’s character, Lt. Kelly Severide, is often a main focus of “Chicago Fire,” but last season’s attention was largely due to his evolving relationship with Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo, “Blood & Oil”), who (spoilers for the Season 13 finale) announced her pregnancy at the end of last season. Although the couple, known to superfans as “Stellaride,” had been planning to adopt, their plans changed when Stella became pregnant.
Otherwise, Station 51 continues to change headed into Season 14 as its mysterious new chief, Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney, “My Best Friend’s Wedding,”
1997), settles into his role as beloved Boden’s (Eamonn Walker, “Oz”) replacement.
Finally, “Chicago P.D.” returns to NBC with perhaps more peril than the rest of Chicago’s first responders. (Season 13 spoilers ahead.)
After Sgt. Voight (Jason Beghe, “Monkey Shines,” 1988) orchestrated an assassination against corrupt deputy chief Reid
(Shawn Hatosy, “Animal Kingdom”), the entire Intelligence Unit is in danger of retaliation and professional reprimand. As the situation gets increasingly dire for Voight himself, rumors have been flying about a possible replacement — perhaps one in the form of Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer, “As the World Turns”), who is reportedly returning this season for a “redemption” (per ScreenRant).

Q: I heard that Nancy Travis is joining “NCIS.” Who will she play?
A: The alum of such series as “Becker” and “Last Man Standing” will be climbing aboard the CBS naval-mystery series when it starts its 23rd season Tuesday, Oct. 14. She’ll play the sister of Alden Parker, Gary Cole’s special-agent character, but the newly arrived sibling will have some impressive professional credentials herself — since she’s a Navy vice admiral who plays by the book, unlike her brother, who has a tendency to make his own rules as he goes along.
While she’s played a wife and/or mom many times, Travis has experience in embodying an authority figure in the working world. Her most recent series role was in Hallmark Channel’s “Ride,” as the matriarch of a ranch-and-rodeo family. (The show had an additional run on The CW afterward.) And in her first major TV-series role, in the mid-1990s CBS sitcom “Almost Perfect,” Travis played the executive producer of a police-themed show.
In the short-lived 1999 CBS show “Work With Me,” Travis played an attorney married to another lawyer (Kevin Pollak). The actress also represented working women when she joined the cast of Ted Danson’s CBS comedy “Becker” full-time for its last two seasons (2002-04), with her character Chris employed at the diner that her doctor neighbor Becker frequented. Travis and Danson already had worked together in the hit film “Three Men and a Baby” (1987) — her movie debut — and its sequel, “Three Men and a Little Lady” (1990).
Travis also had series runs in TBS’ “The Bill Engvall Show,” Audience Network’s “Mr. Mercedes” and Netflix’s “The Kominsky Method.” It will be interesting to see how long her “NCIS” tenure turns out to be, since some “name” actresses have had only relatively short stays (see: Lauren Holly, Jennifer Esposito and Maria Bello).

Q: I just started watching “The Rainmaker” on TV. Will John Grisham be turning any of his other books into TV shows?
A: It certainly seems likely that legal-drama writer extraordinaire John Grisham will do another TV adaptation, maybe regardless of how well the new “Rainmaker” series does.
Grisham currently has multiple projects at some stage of development, as has always been the case since he exploded on the movie scene in 1993 with the hit adaptation of his book “The Firm.”
Several of these potential projects are TV adaptations. For example, he was recently pitched on a series version of his novel “The Boys From Biloxi,” and as recently
as 2021, he was working with HBO on a miniseries adaptation of “A Time for Mercy” (his literary follow-up to “A Time to Kill,” which was made into a hit film in 1996).
If and when any of these projects will hit the screen is unknown, but the Grisham brand is certainly hot.
Early indications say “The Rainmaker,” a new TV adaptation of Grisham’s bestselling novel, is a hit. Indeed, it may end up being more popular than the 1997 film version starring Matt Damon (“Good Will Hunting,” also 1997), which barely earned more than its budget at the box office.
That’s, at least, a little surprising, because historically, Grisham has been less

of a success on the small screen. Several TV versions of his books (including ones that were previously hit movies) got early cancelations over the years, including a version of “The Client” that ran for a season on CBS in 1995 before getting axed and a 2012 series based on “The Firm,” which was similarly only given a season, this time on NBC.
But those were made before the streaming era, and streaming has been a big part of “The Rainmaker’s” success. Episodes air first on broadcast TV, on the USA Network, but are re-released a week later on the Peacock streaming service. They’ve proved very popular there — “The Rainmaker” is reportedly the fourth most popular show on Peacock.

Q: I know about some of the show’s other stars, but is the woman who played Sally on “3rd Rock From the Sun” still acting?
A: NBC’s late-’90s sitcom “3rd Rock From the Sun” is, of course, the show that launched the career of film star Joseph Gordon-Levitt (“Inception,” 2010) and was another entry in the long resume of stageand-screen great John Lithgow (“The World According to Garp,” 1982). But it was an ensemble show, and Kristen Johnston (“The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas,” 2000) was an equally large part of it as security officer Sally.
Unlike her co-stars, she remains a sitcom force to this day, most recently appearing on the Netflix series “Leanne” earlier this year. And news just broke a few weeks ago that she’ll be joining the cast of the Fox sitcom “Going Dutch” in a “heavily recurring role,” according to Deadline.com. She’ll play a high-ranking NATO general on the show — an echo of her “3rd Rock” character’s military roots.
After “3rd Rock’s” demise in 2001, Johnston initially tried her hand on the big screen, with supporting roles in comedies such as “Strangers With Candy” (2005) and “Music and Lyrics” (2007).
