the Chamber
T
he Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce, established in 1945, is a not-for-profit organization of businesses representing industry, retail, service professionals, and agriculture in partnership with tourism and government to further promote economic growth and quality of life in Mendota. The strength of the Chamber lies in the active involvement of its membership. Both large and small businesses are represented and influence the direction of the organization. The Chamber office makes referrals of its members and promotes them through a variety of activities, making the public aware of the goods and services available here in Mendota from its membership. Sponsoring community events and promoting tourism such as Mendota’s Annual Sweet Corn Festival, one of the largest harvest festivals in the Midwest, annually attracting more than 60,000 visitors to Mendota, is also an important role of the Chamber. The Chamber office organizes the hundreds of volunteers necessary for this and other smaller events during the year. The Chamber acts as a community information center, answering a variety of questions daily from the public. The Mendota Chamber is a voice for business and is devoted to strengthening the business community and maintaining the exceptional characteristics of life here in Mendota.
