First responders enjoy brunch and camaraderie Saturday at Liberty Court Living Center. The senior living center’s staff held the event to thank the men and women of the fire, police and EMT services for their work. The facility also held a kindergarten and first-grade coloring contest, with the winners receiving a ride to school in a fire truck.

MILLEDGEVILLE – The village is closing in on a deal to sell all 30 acres of its industrial park to a biological agriculture company. Village president Galen Wirth said officials have been negotiating with Wisconsin-based Midwestern BioAg for a year and a half. The target date for finalizing the contract is March 15, but Wirth said it could take until the end of the month. The industrial park, near state Route 40, has been vacant since it was established in 2007. The acreage has been rented out as farmland for several years. “Things haven’t been signed yet, but the holdup is with engineering, so things look very promising,” Wirth said. CLOSING CONTINUED ON A5
About the company The Wisconsin-based group makes environmentally friendly ag chemicals and consults with farmers to implement its products and methods to improve yields. The Milledgeville site could immediately create 15 jobs, according to Village President Galen Wirth.

Tom Demmer, R-Dixon, amends the Illinois Securities Law of 1953 to allow for smaller investments in companies that can’t afford a full public offering. Similar to using a Kickstarter campaign, business owners can solicit money from individuals for smaller
