Compensation board to present to CSD board Supervisors at Monday’s meeting approves By JAKE WADDINGHAM

The Union County Board of Supervisors will receive a unanimous raise recommendation by the 2015 compensation board for elected courthouse officials Monday. The board met Dec. 16 and plans to propose a 2 percent wage adjustment and 1.5 percent cost-of-living raise for all elected courthouse officials. This includes Union County Attorney Tim Kenyon, Sheriff Rick Piel, Auditor Sandy Hysell, Recorder Paula White, Treasurer Kelly Busch and Union County Board of Supervisors. A new addition to the board’s recommendation is a comparable salary modification. The modification adds a stipend of $500 for the auditor, recorder, treasurer and supervisors; $2,000 for sheriff; and $3,000 for attorney. The compensation board added the comparable wage adjustment to try to help close

Last year, the board suggested and the supervisors approved a 3.5 percent wage increase for the attorney and sheriff. The auditor, recorder, treasurer and supervisors had a 3 percent wage increase. All elected officials also received a 2 per-

The system, called TimeClock Plus, is a software-based system that will replace the current paper system. Christmas basket fund in need of donations

The 2014 Union County Christmas Basket Fund is receiving gifts. Donations totaling $ 14,626.80 have been received to date. This year’s fund goal is $19,000 and organizers are hoping for another successful campaign. Nominations for Christmas baskets were made using the Christmas basket nominations form appearing in the Creston News Advertiser and Southwest Iowa Advertiser at various times. Nomination deadline was Nov. 25. The pick-up/delivery cards went out Dec. 12 and Christmas baskets may be picked up 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Last year, 222 baskets serving 860 people and 125 nursing home baskets were distributed. Residents of care centers in Creston and Afton received fruit and Kleenex. Baskets include meat, canned goods donated through efforts of Boy Scouts and school and community projects and certificates redeemable at local supermarkets for
