Flash flooding possible this evening The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flood watch until Tuesday morning because of the potential for thunderstorms across southern Iowa tonight. A storm system capable of producing heavy rainfall is expected to pass through southeastern Nebraska and into southern Iowa and northern Missouri tonight through Tuesday morning. Flash flooding may be possible, especially because of the recent heavy rains across the state. Iowa averaged 9.61 inches of rain across the state in June, the thirdwettest June on record. The watch includes Adair, Adams, Appanoose, Cass, Clarke, Davis, Decatur, Lucas, Ringgold, Taylor, Union and Wayne counties. The NWS warns that flooding is especially dangerous at night. Flood water can rise quickly and the depth can be deceptive. Do not drive through water covering the roadway.
