The third-degree sexual abuse charge against Stoney Avery Stuart — stemming from an incident with a teenage female last July — was dismissed late last month and he’s accepted terms in a plea agreement. In this agreement, Stuart pled guilty to providing alcohol to a person under legal age and, for that charge, will be placed on probation under the supervision of the Department of Correctional Services for one year. “Factual information does not exist to prove a required element of the offense (sexual abuse) and Stuart reasonable doubt exists as to the guilt of the defendant (Stuart) on this offense,” according to court documents signed by Union County Attorney Tim Kenyon. Stuart will be required to pay about $800 in fees/ surcharges. Among other stipulations in the agreement, he will be required to completely abstain from consumption of alcoholic beverages and refrain from entering establishments where alcoholic beverages are consumed.
