Frigid fishing: Ron

Niles of Moravia drills a hole in the ice in search of fish Sunday morning on a lake near Greenfield. The ice was between five and six inches thick Sunday, an increase from three inches Thursday after a bout of rain. The ice thickness and a high temperature of 10 degrees in Greenfield made for a plentiful day of fishing.

When the Panther wrestlers take on Perry and Winterset for their double dual meet Thursday, the competition won’t just be about pins and points. It will also be about helping Iowa families who are going through medical emergencies. That’s because throughout the evening, Creston High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and Panther wrestling team will be partnering to raise awareness and funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Iowa, which provides a low-cost “homeaway-from-home” for families with children in area hospitals during medical emergencies.
