istrict 47 serves approximately 7,000 students in PreK through 8th grade from Crystal Lake, Lakewood, and parts of Lake in the Hills, Cary, Woodstock, Huntley, Bull Valley, and McHenry. The District is comprised of an early childhood center, nine elementary schools, and three middle schools, and employs approximately 1,200 licensed and non-licensed staff.

In addition to core curricular areas, District 47 offers dual language and extended curriculum programs, as well as STEM classes, physical education, art, and music. Students are provided a variety of extracurricular opportunities through sports, activities and clubs. District 47 is focused on meeting the academic and social-emotional needs of all students and is dedicated to providing a firm foundation and well-rounded learning experience to support college and career readiness. All District 47 schools are consistently ranked as “commendable” or “exemplary” by the Illinois State Board of Education. The new strategic plan is intended to help shape the District’s focus moving forward, build on existing strengths, and provide opportunities for growth over the next five years. District 47’s new mission statement is Empowering All Students: Learners Today - Leaders Tomorrow.
