Editor’s note: The races listed below were the only ones the BCR was able to confirm by press time. The BCR will publish other races as they become available. In upcoming stories, the BCR will also publish other races like school boards and library boards. The petition filing period for the April 7, 2015, consolidated election ended on Monday, Dec. 22. Below is a list of candidates who the Bureau County Republican was able to confirm had filed to run for a village board/ city council position:
Cherry There will be no changes on the Cherry Village Board as all four incumbents
filed for the seats they currently hold. The four-year terms are held by Ronald Hoscheid, James Hoscheid and Joseph Stefko, and the two-year-term is held by Robert Fonderoli.
Dalzell There are three trustee positions open, which are currently held by Scott Orlandi, Sean L. Orlandi and Sean Thompson. Five candidates will vie for the three positions. Incumbent Sean Thompson filed, along with newcomers Jim Turigliatti, Fran Barry, George Nave and Gary L. Orlandi.
DePue There are three trustee seats open, which are currently held by Terry Libby, Dan Hoffert and Roger

SPRING VALLEY — The Spring Valley City Council briefly discussed an ordinance on Monday that pertains to fire fighting service fees for residents living outside of the city corporate limits. This is a program that has been offered by the Spring Valley Fire Department to these particular residents in the past, however this year, the fire department voted to raise the annual fee from $50 to $100. City attorney Jim Andreoni on Monday explained residents are not forced to pay the fee, however if the Spring Valley Fire Department is called to their property for a fire, they would then be billed for Year 168 No. 155 One Section - 24 Pages

the fire department’s services based upon time and equipment. If residents do pay the $100 fee, it would ensure coverage, and they would not be billed for services. Alderman Dave Pellegrini asked how many residents the ordinance related to, which Spring Valley City Clerk Becky Hansen estimated around 50 residents. “This only applies to those who are not in the city corporate limits,” reminded Andreoni. Pellegrini also asked where the fee monies go, which Hansen confirmed went into the fire department’s account. Alderman Dan McFadden questioned the ordinance and asked about
