KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key duties for the Board Treasurer include overseeing financial records, ensuring accurate reporting, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading budget development. The Fundraising Committee Chair is responsible for leading fundraising efforts, setting goals, building relationships with donors, and evaluating fundraising success. American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society’s mission is to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Governing Board members will serve a three-year term Responsibilities include:
1. To know and approve all policies, participate in strategic planning and be familiar with all programs and services offered by ANSWER.
2. I will know what our budget is and take an active part in reviewing, approving and monitoring the budget.
EXPECTATIONS:
• I will give annually a minimum of a $500 financial donation.
• I will actively engage in fund raising for ANSWER. This may include individual solicitations, participating in special events, as well as the cultivation of potential donors. I am making a good faith agreement to do my best and to raise as much money as I can.
• I will actively promote ANSWER and encourage and support its staff. I will be available for consultation by telephone and email.
• I will attend at least 75% of all scheduled board meetings and serve on at least one standing committee.
• I will attend and actively participate in programs as I am able, to include fundraising events, “Mentors For Moms’ programs and other events.

Books with Color, Inc.
Books with Color connects teachers and classrooms with diversitydriven authors in essentially one click for free so children can see book characters and authors like them and be more deeply connected with books. This classroom connection is either in-person or via zoom and is the only product of it’s kind available on the market. Not only do teachers get meaning for authors to visit their classrooms with positive messages of hope and representation, the authors get a platform for their books, giving them the monetary support feedback they need to become widely successful.

We provide access to lifesaving breast health screenings to uninsured and underinsured patients in the Charlotte region.

Family Mankind™
We are a family violence prevention services agency. The mission of Family Mankind™ is to break cycles of generational trauma and violence by providing holistic, trauma-informed care and support by fostering healing, empowerment, and resilience for individuals, families, and communities impacted by domestic violence, mental health challenges, and socioeconomic barriers.
EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
Although experience is a plus, it is not a requirement for any or all positions. We will train and have other committee members develop new and enthused talent.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
These positions support the organization by ensuring effective governance, financial health, program success, and public engagement. Healing Vine Harbor
The mission of Healing Vine Harbor is to reduce the number of women living in shelters or unsafe situations, providing a pathway out of poverty to ensure self-sufficiency. We provide wrap around services to women who are at risk of becoming homeless or who are currently homeless.

Hope Haven, Inc.
Hope Haven is a Therapeutic Community for individuals and families in early recovery from substance use disorder. Most residents of Hope Haven have experienced homelessness or housing insecurity and need time and supportive services to improve their mental health, find jobs, and move to permanent housing.

Mind Body Baby NC
Mind Body Baby works to end the isolation and stigma of maternal mental health struggle because we are in the midst of a maternal mental health crisis affecting one in five birthing people and with multigenerational impacts.

Parkinson Association of the Carolinas
We provide much needed free exercise therapy classes to people with Parkinson’s and their care partners. We also provide free care advising, connection to resources, educational workshops, support groups, etc.

Peoples Private Learning (PPL)
Peoples Private Learning (PPL) provides Intensive Academic Support in Mathematics and English Language Arts (ELA) for K-12 underserved students. Through small group and individual sessions during the school day, PPL works to close achievement gaps and ensure students have the skills needed for college and career readiness. This work is critical in addressing the academic disparities within our community.

Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte
Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte (RTGC) is dedicated to repairing homes, revitalizing communities, and ensuring that every neighbor has a safe and healthy place to live. As a local affiliate of the national Rebuilding Together network, our mission centers on providing critical home repairs and accessibility modifications to low-income homeowners, particularly seniors, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and families facing financial hardship.
POSITION(S) NEEDED:
General board members for year one, then the opportunity for officer positions starting in year two.
EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
Financial/accounting, community development, construction, marketing/communications, strategic planning, government relations.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Oversight: Board members set the long-term strategy and vision for RTGC.

S.T.A.R.S. Math & English Academy
S.T.A.R.S. Math & English Academy began in 2000 as an informal tutoring program, Since then, S.T.A.R.S. (Striving Together Achieving Real Solutions) Math and English Academy continues to provide free one-on-one and group academic enrichment sessions to young people in grades 3-12 who are enrolled in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
S.T.A.R.S. has grown to serve 200 students annually through a network of over 75 certified teachers.
POSITION(S) NEEDED:
Secretary, VP, and Board Governance
EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
Past board experience is encouraged but optional.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide visionary leadership and oversight for the accomplishment of the S.T.A.R.S. Math and English Academy’s (S.T.A.R.S.) mission and purpose. The Board of Directors has the fiduciary responsibility to ensure the S.T.A.R.S. meets it legal, financial, and programmatic responsibilities for all of its activities.
EXPECTATIONS:
Board members are appointed or elected to a two-year term of office. The term is without compensation. The Board is made up of 3 to 15 members. Terms begin in November at our annual meeting and expire at the conclusion of the second annual meeting following board member election or appointment. An Executive Officer can only serve for three consecutive terms. Following completion of a director’s term, he or she is eligible for re-election after a one-year waiting period.

Sanctuary Counseling Group is committed to making mental health care accessible to all by offering scholarships, sliding scale payment options, and accepting Medicaid. By fostering personal growth and resilience, the organization promotes emotional well-being, empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives. We are looking for someone who is willing to work with Sanctuary to build our outreach efforts through networking, attending events, talking about SCG, and being active on Social Media. These are not all required, but helpful!
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• As a Sanctuary Counseling Group board member, you are first and foremost SCG’s biggest supporter and most faithful volunteer. All board members must be vocal advocates and networking ambassadors for SCG.
• SCG’s Board of Directors meets virtually on the third Wednesday of the month from 7:30am to 9:00am.
• All board members should join a committee which meet monthly or as needed.
• Board members are encouraged to attend any events that might be held which are typically once a quarter.
EXPECTATIONS:
Additionally, SCG’s Board participates in an annual “give or get goal”. Each member decides on a personal goal to either fundraise or donate over the entire year. This encourages our board members, SCG’s most loyal supporters to show their commitment to the mission!
She Built This City
She Built This City empowers women, youth, and marginalized communities by providing education, training, and career pathways in skilled trades. Through programs, workshops, and hands-on experiences, we break barriers in traditionally male-dominated industries like construction, plumbing, and electrical work.
Our work is important because it addresses the critical need for diversity and inclusion in the trades, helps close the skills gap, and creates economic mobility for underserved populations. By inspiring the next generation of builders and makers.

We seek board members with expertise in technology and legal fields to support our mission. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Board members in technology and legal roles provide guidance on strategy, compliance, and risk management. Responsibilities include advising on IT, cybersecurity, digital tools, governance policies, contracts, and legal considerations to enhance efficiency, impact, and advocacy efforts.
EXPECTATIONS:
Board members are expected to support She Built This City’s mission, actively participate in meetings and events, provide advisory support, help expand the network, and uphold governance practices. Financially, members are asked to make an annual contribution and participate in fundraising efforts. The time commitment is 4-6 hours per month.
She Dreams In Color Foundation
We raise money to provide funding for mental health therapy for women in Mecklenburg County who live in six health disparity zip codes and live below Federal poverty levels. We also create content and host community events that destigmatize mental health needs and seeking care for all people. Our therapy advisors estimate turning away five people a week on average seeking sliding scale or free services.. Research shows finances and stigma are the top two reasons people don’t seek much needed mental health care. Our funds help both clients and providers in several ways including economic mobility.

EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
Experience in legal and regulatory compliance, public relations, advocacy, human resources, finance, and organizational leadership is needed for various roles. Responsibilities include risk management, media relations, policy advocacy, trauma-informed support, strategic planning, and fostering diversity. Committee roles require expertise in finance, fundraising, operations, and evaluations to support decision-making, growth, and process improvement.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensuring compliance with laws and policies, managing public relations, advocating for vulnerable populations, supporting parents, and overseeing internal operations, budget, and hiring. The Vice President assists with strategic vision and organizational impact. Committee members provide guidance on finance, strategy, fundraising, operations, and evaluations to ensure fiscal health, sustainability, and effective governance.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Board committee members are expected to contribute an average of 2 hours per week, attend meetings, stay informed about goals and tasks, offer insights based on expertise, and support strategies aligned with the organization’s success. Board members are also expected to attend at least four meetings annually, provide advice, share responsibility for the organization’s well-being, advocate in the community, and avoid conflicts of interest. Financial expectations are being updated, with a potential future requirement for contributions to support the organization’s growth.

The Go Jen Go Foundation
The Go Jen Go Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing critical assistance and family support to local individuals facing the financial burden of breast cancer. We provide aid during diagnosis, treatment, and recovery so that individuals can focus on their health and family’s well-being.
Our programming helps cover household expenses including housing, utilities, transportation, and groceries/necessities while a patient undergoes breast cancer treatment. In addition, our Mood Williams Camp Scholarship fund provides camp opportunities for our grantees’ children, while our Operation Spread the Joy Program uplifts families by delivering gifts during the holiday season.
The organization was co-founded by Joe & Jen Pagani, a Charlotte mom who saw an unmet need in our community during her 6 1/2-year battle with breast cancer. With over $1.7 million granted to local patients, Jen’s legacy continues as we help cover the day-to-day finances so families can focus on their fight against breast cancer.

Prior Board Service or Committee experience preferred; strong community connections; passion for breast cancer initiatives.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Budgeting, financial reporting, record keeping, implementing accounting policies and procedures
EXPECTATIONS:
Our board meets quarterly (virtually) and in-person once each year. We’d accept a one-year term but prefer two years for the duties listed above.
